Truly brilliant about being abysmal.

Truly brilliant about being abysmal.

Monopoly on operating systems on desk tops and lap tops so why whine when you get garbage service when things go wrong. Someone has to speak up for them and give them 5 stars for incompetence.

A wonderful company!

"We're the UK’s leading AI-enabled business process outsourcer, trusted by public and private sector clients to deliver essential services at scale."

Clearly not.Their website is truly dreadful - that's if your anti virus software lets you see it. Given that they have about the lowest score of any organisation on Trustpilot I must give them 5 stars so now they will have 3 !

Smart Meter Installation

I would not recommend Octopus for a smart meter installation. Full details are too many for me to go into. They had no understanding of their contractual obligations, lack of understanding of GDPR (data protection) continually obfuscated and delayed, whilst providing no meaningful information. Their chaotic nonsense lasted from from April until end of December. I had to engage the services of the Energy Ombudsman and only when they quicky found in my favour and issued 4 remedies did Octopus complete the job.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and outline your experience. We appreciate hearing from our customers, as it helps us identify where improvements can be made and your comments have been carefully noted.

Having reviewed the account, I can see that both meters were due for replacement in line with age and regulatory requirements. In particular, the electricity meter relied on the RTS set up which was scheduled to end in 2025 and the gas meter had passed its certification date. Due to the complexity of the metering setup and limited appointment availability in your area at the time, the work was allocated to SMS who are a specialist third party provider that supports complex metering exchanges.

During the visit, SMS identified that the gas meter could not be safely replaced due to the presence of an ECV. The ECV and associated pipework are the responsibility of the District Network Operator (DNO), meaning neither SMS nor Octopus Energy were able to carry out repairs or replacements in that area. For safety reasons, the gas meter exchange could not proceed until the DNO had completed the required work, however I can see that the electricity meter was successfully replaced during this visit, as no safety concerns were identified.

A follow up visit from an Octopus engineer confirmed the issue and the need for the DNO to attend. While the DNO was aware of the required work, their scheduling and availability sit outside of our control and we do not have access to their booking systems. Unfortunately, this meant we were unable to progress with the gas meter installation until their responsibilities had been completed.

During this period, the Ombudsman agreed that a meter exchange was appropriate, which aligned with our own assessment. I can see that the gas meter replacement was successfully completed on 22nd December 2025.

We’re very sorry for the delay in getting the new gas meter installed and understand how frustrating this will have been. It is our priority to ensure the work could be carried out safely and due to the concerns raised with the ECV, we were unable to proceed until the necessary DNO actions had been completed. Thank you for your patience while this was resolved and I'm glad to see everything is now in place.

Kind regards,

Nia

DPR- Excellent Value

Not sure why there are negative reviews re the Disabled Persons Railcard. It's excellent value, easy and quick to obtain if you provide evidence of entitlement and they remind you when it is time to renew. Using it is extremely straightforward and they provide (possibly too many) special offers.

Simply the best for poor advice

As someone wrote some weeks ago they are really good. Their advice is so poor that it gives one a fantastic opportunity to avoid investing in shares or funds that they recommend. Of course their recommendations are not advice and as such should normally be avoided. Remember Neil Woodford once their Golden child! And as for the current messing about with the website what can one say. I suggest going to Fidelity or Morningstar to get real info.

Review of Santander

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I miss the days of yore when we had…

I miss the days of yore when we had competent
small banks/ BS providing proper customer services such as those provided by Abbey National Building Society, Airdrie Savings Bank and so many others that no longer exist. Alas such old fashioned ways had no place in a world which became obsessed with greed and profit at the expense of actually providing any kind of appropriate service to small customers i.e. people like you and me.

Customer Service as such does not exist at Santander. Yes you can go into a bank and usually get the most basic task achieved. Unfortunately sometimes even that is beyond the competence of the Bank. Whether its bank staff, the online chat line or customer enquiries my experiences have been universally ones of surrealistic ineptitude and arrogance.
Today for instance I visited my local branch on Byres Road in Glasgow. I had been advised to after an overlong and tedious online chat conversation with Santander. In essence, I have been trying to activate my Credit Card for about a couple of years. It is a card which is associated with my current account. Every attempt to activate it has been a failure.

The CC is connected to my bank account as it is through that account I applied for and received it. However, it has never been possible to activate it. So as advised I went to my local branch today (I had been told they had a number they could call to activate it - I think it must be a magic number).

After spending some time with a member of staff going through my personal details and being provided with reasons why the problem had occurred (basic all human error on the part of the bank) I was told I would have to come back with more forms of ID such as passport etc. No explanation could be provided as to why this was necessary as they had all necessary ID and information in front of them. Indeed the passport would have blown a fuse in the banks CNS as it shows my first name spelt differently from that on my bank account and the CC.
I advised that I was not going to be put to yet further inconvenience by the incompetence of the bank and would simply switch banks (I believe there still is one that provides customer services)

I received the usual bland, inane and insincere response “I am sorry you feel that way”. Often I feel that the staff have been preprogramed in such a fool hardy way so as to infuriate their customers even more.

The bottom line is that time is precious. Santander have wasted days of my life over the years that I have been with them. I was with Abbey for some years before they were taken over by Santander. They wasted none of my time. They provided proper customer service. The question is why , as with other big banks, is the service so lousy.

To Dennis, it's tight call between Virgin and SP. No need to explain the details as all the thousands of others already have. They are excruciating bad when you try to change supplier or any thing else as you have experienced. I am also proceeding with the energy Ombudsman. I an sure they must be totally fed up with major utilities.

I switched to them because they were cheaper than the big companies. Also the reviews were generally much better than their much bigger rivals. However I agree with the recent reviews. I have written to them by email and via their website on numerous occasions over the last month and have not even received an acknowledgement. The house appears to be empty and the lights are off.

NX Rewards need a bigger spade (if one…

NX Rewards need a bigger spade (if one is large enough) to keep digging the hole that they are falling into. They have at no time provided me with any evidence that I signed up to this ridiculous scheme. They have sent me a blank pro forma document but no evidence that I signed it. Even had I done so, the way that it is designed is extremely misleading as has been noted by many others.
What would be helpful would be if NX Rewards could acknowledge my formal complaint of 16th July 2019. If they don't do so within this current working week I will assume that they will not consider it and I will simply proceed to the Ombudsman.
What would also be helpful, and this is simply advice to NX, is for them to accept that they have made a huge dogs breakfast of this scheme as is evidenced by the many recent negative reviews.

Everyone on this part of Trust Pilot…

Everyone on this part of Trust Pilot should look at the most recent reviews. That is the last month or so. I submitted a complaint.

"Dear sir madam,

As I clearly indicated in my Trust Pilot Review I was not interested in the pro forma response which your company makes to the numerous negative reviews on the same issue. In addition it failed to address the underlying issues relating to the scheme, Indeed people are now becoming so enraged that there now seems to be a stream of negative reviews arriving on Trust Pilot which you are seeking to stop, as your company considers that they contain "accusatory", offensive, false or defamatory language. Is that now going to be your standard practice to try and stop the continuous stream of negative reviews?.

No evidence whatsoever has been provided that I signed up to this scheme. In any event even if I had, the sign up procedure, if it actually exists, would seem to be appallingly misleading and in need of a radical rethink.

My Trust Pilot Review:

"Like the last few posters I have no knowledge of ever having signed up to this scam. Only found out today that they had been taking £15 per month from my credit card account for last 4 months. However I phoned someone in customer services who said I would be refunded. She did also eventually provide me with an email to initiate the complaints procedure. She did also mention the complete nonsense about the sign up procedure which so many others seem to have known nothing about. As such I have no interest in hearing the same bogus details again as I will take the matter through the complaints procedure and ultimately the appropriate ombudsman."

Please treat this as a formal complaint.

Marcus Parham"

I will no doubt wait forever for a response.
