I have used Tado for about 10 years now and found it very good, easy to use and, it is reliable, provided the Internet is up and running. Unfortunately, if that goes down, no control as it is a server... See more

Very good
Very good, easy to set up. Saves money in the long run as only heating rooms when required
Moving from Google was straightforward and added function.
We moved from Google Nest and the instructions provided made the move simple. Adding the radiators as well also went smoothly. Our heating engineers had not installed Tado before but they also found it straight forward and were impressed.

I have been using Tado for last 2.5 year and has worked was worked well but sometime ago they introduced some limits which broke the home assistant integration and my automation do not working. Now I can only control it via its official app but not via HA set up.
I'm using Tado X products.
I'm using Tado X products.
So the APP is great! You put a huge smile on my face with Santa Claus appearing on the radar near Christmas. The service is rock solid. The TRV-s are beautiful. The thermostat LCD is bit blury. :/
Tado support team are great
Tado support team are great at explaining what to do when you're confused.
Incredible that its so difficult to add…
Incredible that its so difficult to add a heater device. None of what they are writing works. QR codes dont work. So what now Tado?? Ive already spent half an hour trying to use your "guide"..... That's clearly outdated....come on!!!
DIY install is not easy
DIY install is not easy. Still had to pay a trained heating engineer to understand the wiring.
Day to day usage though is great. Being able to put the thermostat in any room is useful, and the app is easy to program. It never forgets settings or time and date after a power cut either.
Firm follows function
Great technology, fully supported by excellent customer service. Truly a winning combination
An amazingly easy smart thermostat

The system all works great apart from if my wifi goes down, even if it’s been preprogrammed, the heating doesn’t come on.
Easy to control
Easy to control on my phone once I had worked out how to use it. Maybe a video on how to get going would be good.
Good and reliable equipment, good experience
Great experience, good quality, reliable equipment
Avoid
Changed all my valves to tado hoping to reduce my heating bill.
A few months later, they released a "patch" that forced me to pay a subscription. Then they removed features (you need to pay to continue using them - e.g. integration to alexa).
I ignored this. Then I saw that tado seem to be asking trustpilot to remove negative reviews. So I post this review as that is really shady.
I still have my amazon receipts - so can prove purchase.
In operation the TADO x controller…
In operation the TADO x controller bridge and radiator valves work very well with the ability to set schedules room by room when coupled with hot water control it does all that I expected. Better integration with smart home standards would be very useful e.g. Homekit or Home Assistant.
The granular control I have has certainly allowed me to minimize my gas costs for heating and hot water

We had an old boiler that we had to climb into a small space to change timings and temperature manually, with Tado it is easy to do on our phone
Great app
Really good being able to control my heating via the app outside of home. Great app and info provided.
Long-term tado user - Now Tado is dead to me!!!
Long-term tado user - know exactly what you're buying with the current Smart AC Control.
I owned an earlier Smart AC Control V3+ in a previous apartment. It had Thermostat mode: the device used its own built-in temperature sensor to decide when to switch the AC off, holding the room at the set temperature. It worked well, because the temperature sensor was in the used part of the room not high up on an external wall with the AC unit, which is why I bought the same product again (April 2026) after moving.
The current V3+ cannot do this. tado support confirmed to me in writing that Thermostat mode has been removed from newer units, replaced by "Synthetic mode", which simply passes settings through to the AC and relies on the AC's own internal sensor. They also confirmed it is not possible to enable Thermostat mode or downgrade the firmware. So the device contains a temperature sensor, displays readings from it, but will not regulate from it.
Nothing on the product page tells you this. It still advertises "Perfect temperature, always". The name is still "Smart AC Control". If you owned an older unit, there is no indication that the defining feature has been removed from hardware that looks identical.
When I raised this, tado refused any remedy - no refund, no return label - on the basis that I was outside their 30-day return window, and suggested I sell the unit second-hand. Their Head of Customer Support declared the case closed.
If you want an app-based replacement for your IR remote with schedules and geofencing, it does that. If you expect it to hold a set temperature using its own sensor - as older tado units did - it will not, and tado will not help you if you find out after 30 days.
It is probably dumbest Smart AC controller on the market with the meanest support on earth.
Not satisfied with product
Not satisfied with product, connecting is nkt worming , support is cheeky and not willing to help.
BTW. Tado flagged all bad revies as fake, to prove your review is true, you need to provide all sort of documents or it gets removed and a lot bad revies did. Because nobody has time for that.
