Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 365 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people reported dissatisfaction with the subscription model, citing issues like unintended subscriptions, unexpected charges, and unclear credit systems. Customers frequently encountered non-existent or unhelpful customer service, often finding only AI chatbots that provided scripted responses. The service itself deteriorated, with users experiencing usage limits, declining quality, and some found the artificial intelligence inaccurate. Conversely, a small portion of people felt the AI was powerful, useful for research, and provided clear, structured answers, often finding it an improvement over other tools.

Try another AI- the pricing of this one is misleading

You can buy a Perplexity Pro subscription for $20/month. With that you get a one-time gift of 4000 'credits' that you could use for advanced searches. You can set your credit card up for automatic payment and then it is cheaper per month. After 15 days of using it in the 'computer' mode [the only option] I received an email that I had less than 1000 credits left and if I wanted to set up automatic payments when the ‘credit’ dropped below 500. I was puzzled. What was going on, what did I pay $20 per month for? I had not used any advanced features. I asked this question twice to the AI.
Here is one of the answers, literally copied “Your $20/month Pro plan gets you a lot that does not touch credits at all: Unlimited Pro searches on the regular Perplexity answer engine — normal searches and Pro Searches do not cost credits. So if you only used regular Perplexity search and Pro Search, your $20 would give you unlimited use and you'd never spend a single credit. The credits only started draining because you were using Computer."
This is blatant nonsense. There is no other option besides “Computer” to do a search. When I asked what a credit costs it turns out to be $1 per 100. In other words, this service, if you would be a light user like myself, would cost you $20 + 8000 credits = about $100 per month and if you give the ok to automatically charge your card you could be spending a lot of money without being aware of it.

Why can't they just have a phone to call and speak pathetic

Absolute SCAM…

I paid for an annual Pro subscription upfront and needed the Max account for 1 month. After I canceled the Max account, Perplexity would not give me my Pro account access back. They kept telling me that they are busy. That's absolutely unfair. I've already paid for the subscription. They should hire more people if they aren't able to keep up with basic admin. Worst AI subscription I've ever paid for.

I have a perplexity…

I have a perplexity subscription/cancellation issue that requires a human touch. Been chasing them for weeks now.

Their support is absolutely shite. It's bot based and when asked for human support they give you the run around and finally state that they "are currently experiencing a very high volume of support tickets. As a result, our response times may be considerably longer than usual. We appreciate your patience as our team works through each request and will follow up once we've had an opportunity to review your ticket. Thank you for your understanding." And they never do follow up.
It's a real shame because I actually really like their product in general.

Sheer garbage

Sheer garbage. Pure waste of time and money. The name of Perplexity AI's CEO is Aravind Srinivas. What else could be expected?

TERRIBLE

TERRIBLE - I pay $200 a month and use multiple Ai and this is the worse by far. NOT EVEN CLOSE. I only keep now to get transcripts live which they outsource from Quartr (Quartr overpriced with little extra value). There Ai is very bad. I actually take their results plug into other Ai to see how wrong they are with stale/non thinking/gerneric/ instructions ignored answers. Will drop once I can replace live transcripts elsewhere at a similar or slightly even more cost

Title: Pure extortion. Locked me out of my data in a critical period to force a $200/mo upgrade.

I have never experienced such atrocious, predatory behaviour from a software company in my life. I was in the middle of a critical, time-sensitive market research program when Perplexity suddenly cut off my ability to add tokens or extend my usage. When I desperately reached out to buy more capacity to finish my project, I was met with zero human help—just their useless AI chatbot "Sam" running me in circles. The only "solution" their broken system offered was a flat-out shakedown: they blocked me from buying standard tokens and told me the only way to get the usage I needed was to force-upgrade to their $200-a-month "Max" subscription plan.It felt like pure blackmail. They held my active project hostage, knowing I was in a critical window, to squeeze a 10x price increase out of me. To make matters worse, their customer service is an absolute ghost town. There is no way to reach a human, no accountability, and zero care for the professionals who rely on their platform for real work. If you are running a real business or doing professional research where deadlines matter, DO NOT rely on Perplexity. They will happily rug-pull your limits and extort you for hundreds of dollars when you are at your most vulnerable. Absolutely disgraceful.

Premium Pricing, Substandard Results.

Plexplexity is significantly overpriced for the value it delivers. Routine project edits can consume 3,000+ credits while still producing inaccurate, fabricated, or misleading content that requires extensive manual correction. Rather than following explicit user instructions, the platform frequently invents information, makes unsupported assumptions, and generates irrelevant or nonsensical output, resulting in unnecessary credit depletion and reduced productivity.

The credit model incentivizes repeated regeneration to correct errors, making even simple tasks inefficient and costly. Equally concerning, customer support appears to be limited to an AI chatbot loop, with no effective path to meaningful human assistance or resolution. This leaves users unable to address technical issues, billing concerns, or platform failures.

For professional IT, engineering, and technical documentation workflows, where accuracy, instruction compliance, and accountability are critical, Plexplexity demonstrates poor reliability, poor cost efficiency, and an unacceptable return on investment.

Perplexity Has Gone Downhill – Frustrating and Constantly Begging for Upgrades

I have been a loyal Perplexity user, but the service has severely deteriorated over time. Despite paying $20 a month for a premium subscription, I am constantly running out of tokens and limits. It is incredibly frustrating to pay a monthly fee only to be bombarded with prompts asking me to upgrade to an even higher tier just to finish my work.
I recently tried Google Gemini, and it is a much better experience for the exact same price. Gemini gives me the performance I need without putting constant pressure on me to spend more money. Perplexity just doesn't feel worth the subscription anymore.

An AI with no intelligence

The ai is going very non-smart (too many words I want to say), glitches the whole time, does not have access to other chats under the same profile, is not able to read nor access to Perplexity links even though the privacy is "shareable" and is set to be seen by anyone, keep assuming,... Etc

Nothing but issues

Nothing but issues. Unable to most basic things that a free public access AI is easily capable of. Don’t waste your money. Pick your favorite model and just stick with that. If I could give less than 1 star, I would.

I would get it at a zero if I could……

I would get it at a zero if I could… It’s way too expensive. it wants to charge you to do extra things in addition to the annual pro account that I have.to make matters worse there’s no option for a refund even though I try to get it same day it is worth zero dollars. Gemini is way better and even Claude’s free service is better than Perplexity.

Service 👍 support 👎

When it comes to perplexity, I find the search results fairly accurate. And helping me to correct grammar and tone in documents. I will be transparent I received this as a one year subscription gift from Bell Canada. I am now in a position to decide whether or not I want to pay the $250 for a one year subscription.

I've reached out to support twice to request information and have not received a response either time. Despite the iterations that pro-support was actually very timely.

My other challenge is accidentally using computer credits when I don't mean to. The app both desktop and mobile make it somewhat difficult to understand what model you're using in intuitively. Thus you may use credits for computer tasks that you do not intend to.

Thus, I am torn about whether or not this is a good use of my money or not. But when it comes to the actual service itself, I think it is pretty reasonable hence the three stars.

Absolutely garbage

Absolutely garbage. Will not generate any pictures. Says not available in my region, which is utter bs. Or it says can't generate image. Once in a 100 times it does work. I'm on the pro plan via Revolut. Both customer services are ai and non existant. I really don't get the AI hype.

Absolutely disgraceful

There needs to be a panel in all perplexity's pages showing `Today's Limits` . The amount of rug pulls that is absurd. Every week we have a smaller and smaller usage limit. Annual Pro subscriber here, and i can tell with certainty that today's product is NOTHING compared to the service offered at January/February when I first registered. You're better off with any other subscription, avoid perplexity at all costs.

Garbage.

Garbage.
Got it for the AI that navigates sites, for testing porpouses.
Initially it kinda worked.
Now it's completly dumb, it keeps missing the buttons and then ask "Seems like the button isnt working, what should i do?.
Also Expensive computer is even worst, and you cant't even see what's the mistake it's making...
And the Deep Research keeps giving me dead links or like 13yo posts like wtf.
When looking for a product, for example, it says "here costs 230Euro", you click and you either see page not found, out of stock or 999euro pricetag.
0 chances I will renew.

Doesn't listen

I'm constantly put off with the subscription plan, and only gives a small amount of credits each day. Additionally, most of the credits that I spend are just wasted on frustratedly telling it to make the maths questions more difficult, and it eventually ends up getting back to square one. Not recommended for daily tasks

I used a Perplexity Pro subscription…

I used a Perplexity Pro subscription from May 27th to June 27th, 2026. My auto-renewal for the next subscription period was declined on June 27th due to insufficient funds, after which my Perplexity Pro access was disabled. I then canceled further subscription renewal in my Perplexity account. Despite canceling the auto-renewal, on July 1st, 2026, at 12:00 AM, $10 was charged to my bank card (the number ending in 6783), and my Perplexity Pro subscription was extended for another month, until July 27th, 2026. I believe this charge was unauthorized, as I had previously canceled the renewal. On July 2, 2026, between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM, I contacted Perplexity support via Google email asking to cancel my subscription and refund my payment, citing your own policies, which stipulate that monthly subscriptions can be refunded within 24 hours of payment. In response, I received an email stating that my subscription was already scheduled to end on July 27, 2026, that there would be no further charges, and that the $10 charged on July 1st was supposedly for the period from June 27th to July 27th, and therefore was not refundable. I disagree with this response, as I should not have been charged for the new period if I canceled my auto-renewal on time. Furthermore, I requested a refund within the 24-hour period specified in your policies. After I resubmitted my request citing these policies, you stopped responding. Please cancel my Perplexity Pro subscription and refund the $10 charged on July 1, 2026, in accordance with the stated refund terms within 24 hours of payment.
