This company is a scam. It signed me up for a subscription without my permission. It charged $199.00. When I saw the charge on my bank account less than 24 hours later. I cancelled the subscription and requested a refund within the 72 hour window.
I never got a refund and I can't use the system unless I buy more credits.
A US government official needs to investigate this dishonest and immoral company.

Perplexity advertised an “Upgrade to Max” offer on my account page (in June 2026), showing “+$450 – LIMITED TIME” in free Computer Credits. Based on that, I renewed/upgraded my Max subscription for $167. I would NOT have renewed it without this offer because it is NOT WORTH IT! You run out of credits pretty quickly and, although it can do a rather good job on straightforward tasks, you do not get much done if you want to code apps.
The page did NOT clearly say the $450 credit offer was one-time only, unavailable for renewals/resubscriptions, or already used on my account. The “LIMITED TIME” wording made it look like an active offer tied to my upgrade.
After paying, not only I did not receive the advertised $450 / 35,000 Computer Credits but I also noticed I was charged $33.92 more than the expected $167 + tax total of $171.43.
Support told me the bonus had already been granted in February 2026, was used/expired, and would not be reissued. They also refused to refund the June charge because of a 24-hour refund policy.
My issue is simple: if the offer was not available to me, it should NOT have appeared as a live “LIMITED TIME” upgrade incentive, period. That promotion influenced my decision to pay.
I also asked Perplexity to honor the advertised offer but they refused. Thug tactics!

If I could give it 0 I would. This is incredibly useless. Charged me over $200 and wouldn't even offer prorate when I went to cancel after learning it has NO MEMORY even within conversation threads. DO NOT USE.

They started hustling and soliciting for money after 5 minutes of downloading and using the app. Just use Gemini it's free and doesn't get stupid when you don't pay

By far the biggest systemic fraud of ever experienced. This thing free version will try to upgrade you every chance it gets. The free version isn't that bad but every time you have to walk away all the work you did and the questions you asked are gone and it continuously say upgrade to pro and I can save all the work. What it doesn't tell you is that the paid subscription is impossible to cancel it within 72 hours in every way you can try imaginable then it never tells you that it comes with a lifetime only of 4000 credits you learn that right after you paid the money and 1 hour of simple free questions that Google or any other platform can answer for free we'll take a quarter of your credits away instantly so my calculation is that this platform that locks up on every other question making this the biggest waste of time I've ever experienced would cost about $400 a month just for simple Google usage that is free everyday. This is systemic fraud at its worst. Do not fall for the 72 hour window lie. I just spent 8 hours trying to cancel only a few hours after being robbed and everything you trying to cancel with the app, with the Google Play store, even your credit card because it hasn't been charged yet has to go through a waiting process that takes you past 72 hours. Again systemic fraud do not get caught for this scam

in this garbage platform there are no multimodal bots to choose from, but only their stupid assistant! money down the drain from subscriptions

At the begining all was fine I found perplexity pro useful. When you get serious w AI and want to do a bit more than just a research once a day totally useless. The ammount of bugs lately is astonishing, one would think that if they run claude to fix them they could get rid off half of their staff.

I've been a user for many years and while in the beginning it was an awesome tool: search an explain with AI, deep search for more reliable information about more complex topics, they changed to be a very annoying and inconsistent provider. They add and remove AI models anytime they choose to. I'm more interested in open weights models, well they add Kimi for a while and then suddenly they remove it at some point. Besides that, the Android app has been working and not working at the same time. Their web interface nowadays forces the "auto" model which is a very bad one, giving bad and incomplete or wrong answers. Probably due to cost savings. The amount of tokens included for other models seem VERY low these days, again showing how they can just change anything at any time. Oh and their customer support is the worst in the world, as it's fully automated with AI and totally useless for the majority of the issues. I would suggest to avoid spending your money here, and it even doesn't make sense to use the Pro version for free via a Revolut benefit tbh.

Perplexity is incredibly woke, even by AI standards. It will refuse to get into any discussion about contemporary social issues. In fact, further than that it will gaslight the user, by trying to make them believe these issues do not exist.

If you want quotidian advice that is outdated, otiose advice, and responses that are based on nonsensical assumptions, this is your tool. It will often leave you enervated. If you want relevance, and responses that are informative, you would be better off with a google search. Quick example; I asked how I could enquire with Perplexity Staff about improvement of their product. I was sent to an AI agent if that gives an idea of the conversation flow.

WOW, WOW, WOW!! VANGUARD is all I can say! I'm your average person when it comes to computers. I studied and built a personalized GPTs, and 3 Gemini Gems to help run our plumbing company. After watching a show on YouTube of the top 10 AI apps people don't know about, I discoverd Perplexity. I'm currently subscribed to Perplexity Pro.... and all I can say is that whoever is behind this has ABSOLUTELY DONE IT RIGHT! It is definitely is several steps above Chat GPT and Gemini too! and I hate to say that because I love my Gemini but I have to give credit where credit is due and Perplexity has knocked it out of the water!! Keep on keeping on whoever is behind this because you are doing a fantastic job!!!

I am quite happy with perplexity's paid monthly pro subscription. Less hallucinating that other AI's. The only thing that stops me from buying a year plan, is the amont of oploads you are allowed to do. Not much. That is really annoying. Also the way they pull you out of the chat if you hit your limit.

perplexity computer mode is great. What is not great is their charges and usage. Model makes mistakes, burn a crap ton of tokens and then either autobills you or prompts you to pay for more tokens after it screws up (IE: mis-renders video generations, images, projects, etc)...then you pay 2-3 times. Paid extra $60 just to finish my video generation since i was already $20 in plus my main PRO subscription of $200 was burned!!! and all it was was a 40 second youtube video cut up and edited from google drive clips.

Just use claude...

Signed up for a year in the pro plan and suddenly perplexity have restricted access to the pro models so it's no better than any other free model but I'm paying a premium for it

I love AI and am an advocate (apart from the disastrous roll-out in the West), but Perplexity is the only AI I find obnoxious, inaccurate, stupid, hallucinatory, and argumentative when wrong. It also sits between you and the frontier models, making it nothing more than a downgrade wrapper. Just avoid - they'll be gone soon anyway.

When I purchased the Pro plan, the 4000 bonus credits that were supposed to come with it didn’t arrive, and on top of that, my previous computer projects (for which I had spent my own money on credits) were deleted on their own, and the support team has been stalling me for months. I absolutely do not recommend it.

I upgraded to Perplexity Pro with an annual membership thinking id gotten a bargain.

its kinda good for basic text chat, questions and answers. Its also good with code when using the Claude model.

But one thing it sucks on is with image generation. It tends to add stuff to images that you dont ask, false claims, logos etc...

The worse thing is that when you ask it to change an image (which works fine in competitor services like ChatGPT) in a chat it will take time, then reply "Generated Image. See Above" - but nothing was attached, no new image, you keep asking it again and it wont attached it, you cant download or view it, then it tells you to generate it elsewhere and gives you the text prompt for it.... why? If it can generate one image, why cant it generate another based on it.

Customer service, gave advice, it didnt work.
