Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 86 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently complained about extremely long queues, severe delays at passport control, and understaffed security check areas that caused many travelers to rush or miss their flights. Customers also noted that the terminal facilities felt dirty, overcrowded, and consistently lacked adequate seating, working power outlets, or proper directional signage. Though some reviewers were satisfied with specific helpful staff members providing great assistance at the luggage check-in desks. Some people mentioned that certain parts of the building appeared clean and that general hospitality options met expectations during smoother visits.

Huge queue at arrival passport control

Huge queue at arrival passport control. No point in having a new system in EES if it makes things worse.

Take heed CPH passport control is part of the airport experience and ruins everyones arrival.

1hr 40 minutes to get through then carousel bag is on not listed.

Utter chaos- long queues

Utter chaos- long queues, no announcements, gate changes. A passport control where everyone lines in a line that barely moves until their plane is almost going, and then you get rushed to the front. Priority seems to be to subject you to shopping experiences.

Get it together Copenhagen airport

2.5 hour queue at midday to get through passport control coming in to Copenhagen. Hundreds of people frustrated and stressed. 2 booths opens for All Passports line processing 1 person / 3 minutes (i timed it) on average each booth. Sometime longer.
I could see the leaving Copenhagen passport control line - at least 100 people.
Get it together like most other EU airports have.

The line for international passport…

The line for international passport check is terribly inefficient and long. It stresses all international passengers out. Very unprofessional system of calling out flights for people to jump the line when their flight about to board. Absolutely terrible and not worth the airport fees we are paying as per of our ticket.

Passport control is a disaster

Passport control is a disaster, you have to stay in a long queue and it's very likely to miss your flight if you are changing to another flight. I had really worse experience at the airport I missed my flight because of unnecessary wait at the passport control queue despite showing my departure time. When I complained to the changes control centre, all I got as a compensation was a new boarding pass with five hours wait to departure.

The poor poor poor passport controlwait time at departure passport…

The wait time at departure passport control for a non EU citizen is disgraceful. The elderly and families with children suffer with a queue wait time of about one hour. The Danish government needs to rapidly change the airport passport control procedures. I personally would discourage people from visiting Denmark because of this dreadful experience.

Filthy and unwelcoming

Airport is revolting, dirty and grimy everywhere. A real shock, as Denmark is generally a lovely, clean country. Far too few seats which were invariably covered in crumbs, stains all over flooring and pigeon excrement through the hallways. Shops extremely pricy and passport control was farcical. An hour to process one flights' worth of passengers, with staff shouting all the time? An utterly miserable experience.

On the way out of the country, check-in and security were fast. But the gate is announced only one hour before departure, and then you have to rush to passport control, where the line is extremely long.

They say it’s due to understaffing. It isn’t. Every booth was open and staffed. There was no air conditioning, and the air was hot, humid and stifling.

I had no time to buy a bottle of water after passport control because it was already 20 minutes past boarding time.

Worst airport experience ever. Even poorer countries have better-designed airports.

Dirty airport

Dirty airport, dust everywhere, dirty and terriible smelly toilets. This is a shame and seems that the owners do not do much to improve this.
I would rank Copenhagen airport among the filthiest airports in Europe.
Unfortunatly, this is my home airport so I do not have any choice than passing through here every month.

Long queues, understaffed passport and security.

I am a fairly frequent traveller through the airport and it has taken a sharp decline over the last 18-24 months. Gates are announced one hour pre departure but after that you have to queue for passport control. Last time I left CPH none of the passport control staff were on duty so the queue started to form pretty quickly. Kastrup is understaffed and badly organised. Frustrating for every passenger. The only way round it is to arrive somewhere else and take the train, drive, or go at wildly unpopular times when the airport is not so busy. Avoid CPH if you can.

Inefficient, badly managed with staff who are rude and uninformed

If i could give this airport less than one star i would. I recently missed my flight back to Edinburgh, we arrived at the airport 3 hours before take off. As soon as the gate went up we headed to the gate stopping to buy a take away coffee. We had just under an hour to take off, the queue was around 300 people, i asked 3 times if we would get through on time and said where i was flying. The staff were useless and practically dismissed me saying they will call. Apparently the called a number of times, but none of our party of four heard. They are a silent airport so dont put out calls. There were also no screens in the passport gate so you can not see updates. I made a complaint and its taken 3 weeks for a response basically saying thanks fir letting us know, it was very busy that day, with no resolution. They had 3 non EU flights at one gate at the same time, the place is so badly managed. All the staff said this is happening all the time. I have been through 2 other airports since the new controls, both were efficient and quick. So no idea how having a silent airport with no signs is actually perceived as ok. Avoid if possible.

EES has disrupted travel at CPH airport

I have resided in Denmark for several years and until recently generally found the airport to be organized and efficient. However, the introduction of EES photos and fingerprinting has caused profound delays for both departures and arrivals, even for those not subject to EES. The queues are long in many places, making walking around them difficult. There are insufficient passport control lanes in general, and at times the lanes for EES-exempt travelers are closed, meaning everyone goes thru the slow and long EES queues. And because passport control is so slow, baggage claim is a wreck, with baggage from multiple flights stacked up on the conveyor belts and in the aisles waiting for their owners to get through passport control. Given the volume of travelers thru CPH, I don’t see the situation improving until they have more passport control police on duty and build more passport control lanes. I don’t know whether EES has made the Schengen Zone safer, but it has certainly made CPH airport far less efficient.

I recently traveled through Copenhagen…

I recently traveled through Copenhagen Airport, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.

The biggest problem was passport control. The waiting time was far too long, and the queue management was poor. I have traveled through airports in developing countries where passport control was much faster and better organized.

To make matters worse, several people tried to cut in line, which led to arguments between passengers. At one point, the situation almost turned into a physical fight because there was no effective control of the queue.

Copenhagen Airport is an important international gateway, and I expected a much higher standard. The airport management should take this issue seriously, improve staffing, and organize passport control more efficiently to prevent unnecessary delays and conflicts.

I hope the management addresses these problems soon, as the current experience does not reflect the quality expected from one of Scandinavia's major airports.
