I experienced a highly unsatisfactory interaction with a CAA tow truck driver.

had a very disappointing experience with CAA roadside assistance. Two technicians arrived, but instead of helping me, they sat in their truck for about 30 minutes. They then contacted dispatch and reported that I wasn't at the location, even though I was there the entire time. They drove away without assisting me. I took photos of the truck because I was present the whole time. Based on how I was treated, it felt like I was treated differently, and the experience left me feeling disrespected and concerned.”

My car wouldn't start

My car wouldn't start. Jennifer helped me to get a membership and dispatched a tow truck within the hour. Sayed from Frank's Towing was very knowledgeable and tried to get my car going without a tow. Unfortunately, turned out the battery was dead. The parking lot we were in was very tight, but with Sayed's experience, he was able to get our car on the towtruck and safely to Milton Canadian Tire. Sayed even got there before we did - he knew his way around the area. Thank you Sayed and CAA. You made a difficult day easier. Very Grateful for your support!!

CAA is a scam

CAA is a scam. I have a CAA plus membership. I am supposed to get a discount at Enterprise Car rentals.

Enterprise has no ability to apply the CAA discount without a “code” CAA says the code is your membership number. Enterprise denies this.

CAA is supposed to have a second driver free. Enterprise agrees but says CAA must do this.

CAA says it is Enterprise who decides on the second driver. 4 hours wasted.

CAA should be held accountable through a class action for selling a benefit that they do not in reality offer- and jerk you around until you just give up in frustration.

Shame on CAA. Shame on Enterprise for being associated with this scam.

I am writing to formally register my…

I am writing to formally register my extreme dissatisfaction with CAA’s failures regarding my membership account.

To date, I have been completely locked out of your website. Your system rejects my password, and when I attempt to reset it, the required verification code is never sent to me. This technical failure is compounded by a much more serious administrative error: I received an official letter falsely claiming that I had not paid my membership dues—a claim that is entirely untrue, as my payment was processed in full.

To clarify this error, I took time out of my schedule to visit my local CAA store in person. While the staff there acknowledged that this issue is a "known" and recurring problem, they could only offer verbal reassurance. Critically, I have received absolutely zero official follow-up from your corporate office—no apology, no written correction of my billing status, and no assistance in restoring my digital access.

As a long-time, loyal customer, I rarely escalate complaints. However, the combination of a broken digital platform, erroneous billing threats, and a total disregard for basic customer service is utterly unacceptable. I should not have to physically visit a branch to resolve a corporate IT and billing failure.

Refused service when I needed it most

If you expect CAA to care about your safety during an emergency, look elsewhere. My car broke down on the side of the road in the middle of a heatwave. With no A/C and temperatures rising to dangerous levels, I couldn't safely wait with the vehicle without risking heatstroke, so I sought shelter.
I had a friend willing to go to the car equipped with the keys, the ownership, a copy of my membership card, and a copy of my driver's license. I also offered to verify everything over the phone. CAA refused to dispatch the tow. They rigidly cited their terms and conditions, demanding I physically travel two hours back to the sweltering car and wait an unspecified amount of time just to show my card in person, completely disregarding my health and safety.
It is entirely unreasonable to expect customers to put themselves at physical risk over bureaucratic red tape, especially when perfectly verifiable alternatives are provided. I've paid them over $500 a year for peace of mind, only to find out they won't work with you when a real-world emergency doesn't perfectly fit their rulebook. Extremely disappointing service.

I pay for a CAA membership to have…

I pay for a CAA membership to have reliable towing when my vehicle breaks down. That is not what I got. My truck was not running, and I clearly instructed where to drop it. Instead, the tow driver gave my mechanic false information, saying my truck was running. Because of that lie, my mechanic told them to leave it in a spot that created more problems. I then spent over 35 minutes on the phone with CAA, only to be told there was nothing they could do. Indirectly, I was left with one option, pay for another tow company out of pocket to fix their mistake. That's unacceptable for a paying member. I expect professionalism, accountability, and better communication from CAA. I expect a response from a supervisor on your team promptly. I will continue to express my disappointment with your service consistently until I do

CAA’s policies are money grabs

CAA’s policies are money grabs! To be brief our son got his G2 we called to inquire about adding him. The cost was too much so we declined to add him to our policies only to be told he must be insured if living in the same household. I inquired if there was a way to exclude him and was told “no”. I quicky researched and found that there is a 28A exemption form that can be completed to restrict him for driving both vehicles then he would not require insurance and most insurance companies would not be forth coming of this option. On his 18th Bday we decided to add him and his premium were based on the higher premium of the 2 vehicles. When I inquired if we could exempt him from the higher premium vehicle in order to get the lowers premium vehicle rate their response was “we don’t do that”. How does it make sense that he can be exempted from both vehicles but not 1. Simple. It’s a money grab and they don’t care about their customers they just want to get as much money from you as possible.

I contacted CAA at approximately 11:06…

I contacted CAA at approximately 11:06 p.m. requesting assistance with a flat tire. A driver arrived at approximately 11:45 p.m., but refused to change the tire, stating that my vehicle was not parked on a sufficiently flat surface.
The vehicle was parked in an employee parking lot. While the surface may not have been perfectly smooth, I did not believe the location was unsafe. I offered to pull the vehicle forward to a flatter area, but the driver stated that he would not enter the parking lot because it was "too rocky."
I then asked him to put enough air in the tire so that I could move the vehicle forward myself. Initially, he refused, saying that because his truck was parked on the road it was unsafe to do so. This was confusing, particularly since his truck had its emergency/flashing lights activated. He eventually did inflate the tire.
The driver then told me that he could have a tow truck come immediately to move my vehicle forward onto flatter ground, at which point he returned to his truck and drove away.
When I contacted CAA again, however, I was told that no such tow-truck request had been made.
I was then left waiting until approximately 3:40 a.m. for another CAA vehicle to arrive — roughly 4½ hours after my original call. To make matters worse, CAA sent me a text advising that the second driver was expected to arrive by approximately 2:30 a.m., yet I was left waiting for more than another hour beyond that time.
What I find particularly troubling is that when the second driver finally arrived, he changed my tire in the exact location where the first driver had refused to do so. There had been no change whatsoever to the location or positioning of my vehicle.
During the lengthy wait, I also attempted to call CAA for an update and accidentally reached the first driver. From the background noise, it appeared that he was at a party or social gathering. Combined with the fact that CAA confirmed that he had never arranged the tow truck he told me was coming, this left me seriously questioning whether his refusal to provide service was actually based on safety concerns.
I understand and respect that CAA drivers must make safety decisions and should never be expected to work in genuinely unsafe conditions. However, the fact that the second CAA driver changed the tire in precisely the same location, without issue, makes the first driver's explanation very difficult to understand.
More concerning is that I was specifically told that a tow truck would be arranged immediately, only to later discover that no request had been made at all. As a result, I was left waiting in the middle of the night for hours under the impression that assistance was on its way.
This was my first experience using CAA Roadside Assistance, and unfortunately it has completely undermined my confidence in the service. A roadside assistance membership is supposed to provide reassurance that when you are stranded — particularly late at night — someone will actually help you.
Instead, I was left waiting from shortly after 11:00 p.m. until approximately 3:40 a.m. for something that the second driver was ultimately able to resolve by simply changing the tire where the vehicle had been parked all along.
I would like CAA to investigate this incident, including the actions of the first driver, whether he properly documented his refusal of service, and why I was told a tow truck was being arranged when apparently no request was ever submitted.
I would also appreciate an explanation as to why the estimated 2:30 a.m. arrival time provided by CAA was missed by more than an hour.
Based on this experience, I currently have no intention of renewing my CAA membership. I would appreciate a formal response explaining what occurred and what action CAA intends to take regarding this complaint.
Sincerely,
Nicole

Do NOT use CAA inless you want to be treated BADLY

I discovered when the made errors, statements etc, and when I would reply in a proffessional maaner, even discounting their mistake they would still respond in a Condesending fashion. They lost the first set of claim data, apologies never came from them. Things were not filled out correctl, so I started requesting them to confirm receipt and that everything was completed correctly. Even this did not stop the rude fashion we were treated with. They then closed the file, which we were never told. The explaination given that a signature was missing from the first form they sent, and the doctor never replied to them with information. This apparently was our fault, even though we were never informed. I asked why would you even start a claim if a intial signature was missing - No reply but apparently this was our fault. Have submitted info against requested sign confirm that everything was included, and this time I did not appreciate the unprofessional manner we had been treated. Lost data, rude treatment, delay after delay. The rates may be could, BUT if you ever need help forget it. Would never reccommend CAA insurance. Pay a little more to be treated with respect, at a time you will need it

Their customer service sucks

Their customer service sucks. We have been in contact over the flood with a basement covered and sewage, and there's been no more correspondence.
Their coverage is disgusting. They hide things when you're talking to them. They are not upfront with their policies for Home insurance.. we will be changing insurance companies, and I will continue to badmouth them and pass it on for everyone to check their policies with them. Shame on you, Caa we depend on you when disasters hit us.

We have had caa for years and use it here and there. Can be great.

However, we got the rv package for a road trip and it has been a complete disaster. Why offer an rv package when they can't coordinate towing at all?

To make it worse, you give them all the details and the tow truck company calls thinking something completely different. No follow up, no care, no service.

I write this as I sit on the side of the road about 2 hours deep to get the tire changed (we realized they won't tow, so managed to source a spare without any update at all.

I will probably be cancelling after this trip....

Unwilling to suspend subscription for deployed Canadian Military Memeber

Very disappointed to learn that CAA was unwilling to suspend the subscription of a family member who has deployed for the next 6 months with the Canadian Military. Didn't ask for money back, just wanted to have the subscription held. It doesn't seem fair when, our Military members are off serving, that a Canadian company is unwilling to accommodate.

We had a great experience with CAA…

We had a great experience with CAA towing today! It was a lifesaver, ran out of gas ( though my car said i had 12 km) on the 403 W right before Branford in the worst spot couldn't get out of the car so we called CAA 1st time ever and they sent the best Tow Truck Driver LEO VALMIR, he was friendly, knowledgeable, did a great job, we felt much safer in his truck while he courageously dodged traffic while hooking our car up and drove us to the gas station, made sure it was only out of gas before on hooking it smart. Luckily it was just gas, Best part he got to us within 20 minutes of us calling on Sunday afternoon. Thank you again for everything you do LEO VALMIR, STAY SAFE!
DRIVERS SLOW DOWN WHEN YOU SEE THE CONES AND THE TOW TRUCKS... THEY ARE HUMANS!!
