monies debited from elderly dementia patient for cover on appliance that doesn't exist

Appliances Direct sold us the appliance insurance with Pacifica Warranty. This was prior to the appliance being delivered - we set up the cover but the appliance never arrived. This meant that our vulnerable and elderly dad, with dementia, and who uses a wheelchair, was left without a fridge-freezer for a full weekend. We had to purchase from another company. Appliances Direct should have also cancelled the insurance cover on out behalf as, officially, the policy was exempt due to the covered appliance not arriving. Due to this, Pacifica have been charging dad's account every month. I have asked Appliance Direct to cancel the policy with Pacifica Warranty on several occasions but this has not happened - and six insurance premiums have been taken to date. Pacifica state that this can be cancelled at any time - but their help number only deals with claims and is an AI operator. I cannot see any other option to contact, that doesn't deal only with claims. I would ask Pacifica to look into how insurance is being sold by companies they partner with - should a policy be sold on an appliance that never arrived and, if it is sold as a policy that can be cancelled at any point - why is it so hard to find a way to cancel. Our dad is very poorly and the last thing we need to be doing now is trying to do this.

Hidden costs requested to pay after collection ...

I paid around £55 to ship one 8.5kg parcel to the USA, from the UK. This included insurance. The process of getting the package labeled and collected was super great!! My parcel was collected, on schedule, from my home address the next morning. However, i then received an email, which i was not expecting, requesting further costs to be paid. I was not made aware of this upon booking the shipping, or it was most certainly not made clear. The request for further payment was sent after the parcel had already been taken and related to government/custom fees - for a total of $41, which currently exchanges to £30. I do not mind paying what is due - but i think it lacks integrity to hold people to paying undisclosed fees after any other reasonable or fair alternative can be made. In total the shipping has, so far, cost me £85. The whole costs should be made clear at booking...it turns out that i actually had over 50% extra to pay on top of the original quote.

alleged fraud - finance taken out in elderly and severely disabled dad's name

Cold calling and aggressive hard sell to vulnerable elderly and disabled people. Read other similar reviews.

Two men from Warmer Solutions cold called my dad at his home. My dad is severely disabled - at this point, when they called, dad was in immense pain and was housebound and on morphine.

Somehow, someone got a hold of my dad's email address, of which he doesn't even know exists, we set it up on his phone (dad cannot even use a remote control properly) they used a finance broker to apply for finance; the link was sent to the email address. The finance provider needed confirmation that works were carried out and have use the email account to do this - the funds were released to Warmer Solutions and dad left with a debt of over £8,000.

Dad has worked hard all his life and pays for his care, his house is in poor condition - so why would we EVER pay over £8,000 to have a 'water proof' substance painted on his crumbling property. We have to pay £5,000 to get a new roof as his carers cannot safely enter the property - dad had a direct debit being taken out of his account of over £134 a month.

We don't know 'who' completed the finance application but it is not possible that it is dad. I have LPA for dad as he does not have capacity. At least we won't have huge debt being sold on to a debt collector agency, (unlike they did to some vulnerable people whose review is on here) - simply because they got the money.

We have reported this to the police and Action Fraud - the FCA are investigating the finance company. I know that the broker no longer works with Warmer Solutions. Next, is Trading Standards and a television watch-dog programme. We will find the IP address of which device was used to apply for the finance.

The LA are working closely with us as dad has a social worker.

Review of Qlisol

No reply from Qlisol - they do not honour thier refund policy

Qlisol appeared in my Facebook newsfeed - a lot! As soon as i purchased the device, no more ads.

The device arrived, it did not have any benefit for me. In fact, in my experience, it made my neck worse.

On the 4th of March, 12 days after the device was delivered, i emailed Qlisol support to request a refund as per their advertised refund/returns policy.

To date, no replies.

I remember that there were many great reviews on the Facebook ad posts - i am now doubting their authenticity. I also read a review on Reddit, which, again was wonderful, and so am casting the same doubts with regards to this too.

Note that the actual device and packaging has no reference to the brand 'Qlisol'... which, of course, is concerning in, and of, itself. I am wondering if this is someone who bought the devices on mass and are selling as a trusted brand - nothing wrong with that per se, but this can be misleading - it seems as though 'Qlisol' are the manufacturers and have a vested interest in it's design and development.

I am please to see that someone else has started a Trustpilot page for 'Qlisol'. I will, posting the Trustpilot link to their Facebook page.

The email address i used to submit this Trustpilot review, is not the same as the one used to purchase the device.

UPDATE: just been to the Qlisol Facebook page and commented with the link to the Trustpilot reviews. The tried to submit a Facebook review, to find: 'something went wrong' - with any searches of 'Qlisol' returning no results.

Review of Octopus Energy

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Wow, amazing!

Wow, just wow, credit where credit is due, we are amazed by Octopus.

After what can only be described as a nightmare with other energy suppliers, Octopus is a superhero! They act with incredible integrity - well done to everyone at Octopus. They are fair and incredibly transparent. Their communication and customer care is easy, speedy and convenient; including talking to a real person by text!

I switched my dad over to Octopus, he'd been on pre-payment for over 30 years (sticking to what he knew). Unfortunately, in retirement he's developed a condition that has rendered him housebound and he needs carers four times a day (which is costly if you have worked hard all your life, like dad has); he'd been heating just one room in the house.

I was expecting it to be a nightmare to switch - however, it was the smoothest, most effortless transfer ever - doing practically nothing ourselves - apart from making the decision and its been one of the best decisions we've made; we only wish we had made it much earlier. Dad obviously didn't have a standard meter showing units used and Octopus had engineers come out and install almost instantly.

Both myself and dad were credited with a £50 on our accounts, via the referral scheme, which was a really nice surprise, and we've both chose a fixed tariff.

It's such peace of mind for us all - even if the wholesale prices go up, and our costs inevitably rise, we feel assured that Octopus will continue to offer us the best terms possible.

Big thank you to Danny in particular, who provided excellent customer care - and to all at Octopus, you are all revolutionising how energy is supplied in a transparent and equitable manner.

Review of Aviva

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Utterly Disgraceful Service and Experience

Took out medical insurance with Aviva. Worst experience ever. Took out in May 2017, rang to claim in Sept of same year. I closed my policy with them in April 2018 after a disgraceful experience. From putting my claim in in September to closing the policy in May 2018,i never received any treatment for my condition. I took the policy out as a self employed person so I wouldn't have to wait on the nhs and lose pay-how wrong could I be. From the moment you make a claim, you become their enemy and they pursue you as though you're in a high court during every phone call. This when you are ill and at your most vulnerable is terrible. They told me that they were making enquiries because the policy was new, trying to state that this was a pre-existing condition, which it absolutely was not. I was not informed, upon taking the policy out, that I would be subject to additional scrutiny and that there would be a shift in integrity at every cost that was stacked up against me purely because I had just taken the policy out. Even in the case of no evidence that the illness was pre existing... that was still taken to mean that it was....the accountability laid with me to prove that it wasn't. All of this was despite having my consent to have cassess to my medical records from my GP - because nothing showed up pre existing there, they were unhappy, almost furious. They granted me with an appointment with a specialist who carried out a test. They then decided to send me the bill for the test stating that would not cover it. All of this is four months post having made my claim to them. The consultant made broad but non-determining statement about how long I'd had the symptoms for, which I asked him to be more specific about for the purpose of establishing that my condition was definitely not pre existing - which he kindly did. However, despite the original statement being indiscriminate of a start date of symptoms, Aviva seemed to jump for joy, immediately threw my claim out and sent me even more bills. The only time I ever had a decent phone call with a member of staff from aviva was when their manager called me to virtually beg me not to cancel my policy with them in May 2018. How vile that she was on the cusp of overturning the fundamentals of the claim complaint if it wasn't for the fact that she knew full well that at least one of us knew what values were. I would never EVER take out ANY insurance with Aviva again.

Aviva.... Look at all of your disgraceful trust pilot reviews.... What does this say. After having my complaint 'dealt' with by your 'impartial' team - Financial Ombudsman here I come!

Review of Direct Wood Flooring

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great experience...exceptional quality...competative prices

Great experience...delivery was faultless, got a text with delivery time and flooring arrived when it should. Pleasant delivery driver brought the flooring to where i needed it. The flooring itself is the solid wood parquet and is of exceptional quality and i am so very pleased with it - the cost is extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend this company. I will be back as i am replacing my living room floor too. Many thanks :) Lyndsey
