We recently purchased three personalised hardcover story books for our grandchildren, and every single one exceeded our expectations in quality, presentation and how beautifully they were received.

The Nursery Rhymes Personalised Story Book for our baby granddaughter (just 2 months old) was a joy to give. The personalised nursery rhymes were such a lovely touch — her parents and siblings were delighted, and it’s already become a sweet part of their reading time together.

The Space Tour Classic Personalised Story Book was perfect for our 6‑year‑old grandson, who adores anything to do with space. Seeing his name woven into the adventure made it extra special, and he was completely absorbed from the moment he opened it.

The Super Hero Classic Personalised Story Book was exceptionally well received by our 7‑year‑old grandson, who has autism. He immediately connected with the personalised superhero character, and it was wonderful to see how much he resonated with the story.

All three books were produced in excellent hardcover quality, beautifully printed and thoughtfully personalised. The finishing touch was being able to add “with love from Grandma and Grandad” to each book — making them truly meaningful keepsakes that will be treasured for years.

We recently visited Arnold Clark in Inverness with no intention of buying a car that day — we were simply browsing. Product Consultant Dylan Wilson approached us promptly, listened carefully to what we were looking for, and guided us through our options without any pressure. After showing us a few models, he introduced us to the BMW M240i, which turned out to be the perfect fit in terms of size, spec, and style.

Living on the Isle of Lewis can make vehicle collection tricky, but Dylan went above and beyond by personally delivering the car to the Ullapool ferry for us. This extra level of service made the whole experience incredibly smooth, and the car arrived in excellent condition.

Living on the Isle of Lewis means deliveries and installations can be a challenge, so I was genuinely impressed by how smoothly Domestic & General handled my replacement cooker. Delivery was arranged through a third‑party courier and installation carried out by a local company, which made all the difference.

It was reassuring to learn that we now have a Hotpoint‑registered engineer who understands the realities of rural living and the limitations around product replacement. From the moment the cooker arrived to the moment it was fully installed took just one hour — and this was only three working days before Christmas.

Being able to liaise directly with both traders was a real bonus and helped everything run efficiently. A very positive experience overall.

My phone consultation was delayed, and it turned out my appointment hadn’t been marked correctly. Thankfully, the receptionist was proactive and kind, and the Consultant was genuinely apologetic and took time to listen. I’d sent all my notes ahead, so it was frustrating they weren’t available—but I appreciated the care shown once the mix-up was discovered. With a few system tweaks, this could’ve been a seamless experience.

I had been looking for at least 10 weeks for the best price available for the Barbie Dreamhouse for our Granddaughter’s 6th birthday and found it on Very at less than half the RRP. But the magic didn’t stop there. It was delivered direct to our daughter’s house on time and in packaging that did not reveal what was inside, therefore, lessening the chance of the surprise being spoilt. Something not experienced with some other retailers!
Barbie’s Dreamhouse was put together with little effort and the first words out of our Granddaughter’s mouth were It’s MAGICAL and it truly is, and worth every penny!!

The P&O Iona ship is beautiful and the staff attentive. We did the Norwegian Ffords cruise. The excursions cater more to the outdoor person who may enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding and hiking. As we can do these activities at home in the Outer Hebrides, my husband and I used the cruise as a SPA break and we were not disappointed. If you choose to do the same, you can pre-book SPA treatments before cruising but I recommend doing the free SPA tour on the day of boarding as we benefited from discounts on treatments up to 30% and also negotiated a free treatment.

I had an issue with an order received part missing and damaged in the post. Ancestry cancelled the kits immediate and issued a replacement.

The transaction was undertaken entirely online and our sales advisor (Paul) delivered the car to our nearest Harry Fairbairn, a 400 mile round trip for him. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend.

I was originally looking for a teddy bear for my granddaughter and fell in love with the Supersize Ballerina Rag Doll instead. It reminded me of one my daughter had when she was a little girl that she called Sally Ann. This is the name that I had personalised on the rag doll. My daughter was totally blown away with this gift for her own little girl. The presentation box will make an excellent ‘My 1st Years’ memory box too.

I use the fast track service as it is more convenient for nipping in and out at lunch time. Staff are always polite, courteous and efficient on the fast track counter. Would definitely recommend, at the Stornoway branch anyway.
