Early morning flight
Early morning flight, you could hardly move once into the main part of the airport. Not a seat available anywhere, huge queues in shops and outlets so no food or drinks. There were 42 departures booked between 06:00 and 08:00. This airport has increased everything beyond a joke, excluding the passenger experience which is hell.
If I could give this airport 0 stars I…
If I could give this airport 0 stars I would. Staff are terrible, constantly screaming and shouting at baggage control and they insist you walk in zig zags for miles even if it’s empty. I tried to duck under the tape as for once it was quiet and there was literally no que for baggage control. Suddenly, I was screamed at and had to go back and walk the zig zag line. I was trying to save energy as I knew that the walk the other side would be horrific. Got through, even though the baggage control was clear, the airport was packed. Most disgusting and dirty place. Unfortunately I use this airport a lot and disgusting is putting it mildly. The staff are generally awful and you see posters everywhere reminding you to be nice to the staff. Whole thing is a joke.
Won’t even mention the return journey where no buses are available and you have to walk miles. Literally miles. I’ve seen many an elderly person or an u fit person nearly having heart attacks as they struggle with the walk. No escalators or travelstors.
If you can, fly elsewhere until the place has been sorted out.
Whoever came up with the design is a joke! Th ey make you leave the airport now and you have to enter another building to exit but no cover so I got soaked when leaving the airport to get my taxi as there was a storm. 🤨 enough now! I could write so much more 🤓
Travelled from Bristol for many years…
Travelled from Bristol for many years and each time you see a decline. The staff are some of the rudest and obnoxious you can come across. Ironically there are signs everywhere telling you to be kind to staff when perhaps they should use their own advice when it comes to being kind and having patience! Overcrowding is ridiculous the airport is too small to hold the amount of travellers no matter what time you fly. Delayed by over three hours on the way out with no clear explanation - with two small children and no room to sit, atrocious prices for food and drink, it's ridiculous. Coming home you have to walk about two miles back to airport security where again queues are unbearable barely any desks open and staff are miserable and slow. Assisted travel most were kind but one gentleman was very rude to family members commenting about the amount of people needing help then moaning to another member of staff in front of disabled people. Honestly I'd rather travel further and go to another airport. Terrible experience.
Security checks - mixed messages
The Bristol Airport website advises that “There’s a 2-litre max rule for each liquid container you take in your hand luggage”. What it doesn’t say is that certain everyday products are not allowed.
My brand new, unopened £26 bottle of P20 sun lotion, identical to those sold in the airside shop, was confiscated by security due to it “registering as explosive” - although they did say I could return to bag drop and put it in the hold!
I was also told I’d be able to collect it after disembarking my return flight, but their outlet had closed for the day by the time I got there.
Following extensive dialogue with their Customer Relations department, over a 2.5-month period, they refunded my £26, as the original bottle (of explosive?) had leaked!
A shocking lack of information and abysmal customer service.
Since Macquarie has become involved…
Since Macquarie has become involved (Thames water asset strippers) the Bristol airport passenger experience is deteriorating daily as the squeeze every last cent out of the travelling public.
Shouty, rude, ill mannered security staff. Embarrassing.
Staff at security appear to enjoy shouting. Demands & having some authority for the first time. Rude, sarcastic & patronising. Training is either ineffective or recruitment for these people is not working.
Customer facing roles require manners, patience & an ability to communicate. It seems these people haven’t the awareness or experience for the role. Abrupt & ill mannered best describes too many of these fish out of water.
Good luck finding a seat on early morning flights
There’s a common theme with Bristol airport reviews. I commute to Newcastle weekly and the summer months are carnage. Early morning flights are such a miserable experience. The airport is too small for the volume of activity. You can’t sit anywhere. People with kids sat on the floor. Queues for shops and coffee etc are ludicrous and simply unacceptable.
It always feels like you’re being rinsed as the airport experience is so bad. Given the choice, I’d never fly from here. Just awful
Poor experience 26 August, and getting worse
As an avid supporter of Bristol airport sadly I do not feel I can continue the support
Insufficient seating, journey from plane to security was far too long (thought I was walking to Wales), 7 E-desks out of action and only families with under 8 year olds could use the manned desks. Just not good enough, keep seeing sorry for inconvenience however every visit (5 times since April) the walk is longer and experience worse
The travel hub toilets at 7pm 26/8 were absolutely disgusting, queue for silver zone parking bigger than I have ever seen
The only reason 2 stars are awarded instead of one is suitcase cane off quickly
Bristol you have to do better to warrant the extortionate £8.50 drop off charge
Recent departures (2026)
We’ve departed twice from Bristol Airport this year, once in May and last week (23/07/26). Unfortunately, for the time, we will be giving it a miss travelling further to Heathrow.
Perhaps it’s because we take early AM flights, but you can’t move, let alone get a table for food. In May we paid for the Lounge (just got in). Last week we got a take-away drink and sat on the floor.
They seem to be upgrading, but this should have been in place before vastly increasing the flights.
The car parks and security are good.
Not going to comment about flight…
Not going to comment about flight delays we had that’s to be expected some of the time. But the airport is filthy! Not just not recently been cleaned really really dirty. Honestly if I’d seen a rat I wouldn’t have been surprised.
Not enough seating, space, not enough staff and the ones they had were miserable.
Toilets were worse than festival toilets and restaurants had almost no food.
And that’s before we start on prices…
Bare minimum Bristol get some deep cleaners in and sort it out. It is disgusting.
I honestly feel like I have been ripped…
I honestly feel like I have been ripped off when I book parking at Bristol Airport. The reality is, it is a small provincial airport, that is charging its customers big boy Heathrow prices for no reason other than we are all hostages that have little or no other choice. Shame on you. No wonder the overall rating of the airport is shocking.
Arrived from Marseille Thurs 27
Arrived from Marseille Thurs 27
Plane was guided to furthest point on the tarmac. 20 mins sat on bus. 20 mins walking through a building site and around the whole airport to passports. 20 mins in queue at passports. So many passports failing at the biometric machines. 47 mins waiting for bags
27 min so waiting in queue for silver zone bus and further 15 mins sat on bus waiting for it to leave. Got to car park and the bay they told me my car was in was wrong. My car was somewhere else. They had to send out a patrol to find it. Further 20 mins
How can you justify 2.5 hours from landing to getting in car?
You are expanding to further your own profits . Customers are suffering because you cannot look after them now. With more flights it will be even worse
ANC on top of that you charge £8.50 minimum to get dropped off???
Awful experience and awful parking standards
Awful experience. 3 planes baggage going to one bagged collection point, waited 45 minutes for baggage when other baggage claims were available.
Bus to silver parking was overcrowded and instead of the bus driver grabbing passengers for a half full bus and going, he waited 15 mins for 2 more people to wander on, instead of just going and shuttling like it should do.
Got to my car to find the bumper touching another car! Silver parking. Awful.
It's supposed to be drop and go
It's supposed to be drop and go. I have used this service many times in other airports with no problem. Your directions for the short stay carpark were confusing. As much so that I drove around the terminal again as I could not believe that I was in the right place as it was so far from the terminal. This cost me. £10.50. Then I had to pay another £10.50. You took so long to come. I would have missed my flight if it hadn't been delayed. Will never use this service again.
Jumped up little nobodies
Why are the security staff still in 9/11 mode? Aggressive and shouting in your face. I had left a hanky in my pocket and was confronted by a woman less than one pace from me shouting and sarcastic. Bunch of jumped up little nobodies.
The so called duty free zone is a joke.
The Bristol travel experience is deliberately made miserable and unpleasant.
Shame I can't give less than 1 star.
Shame I can't give less than 1 star.
I am a frequent flyer/ traveller, and literally every single time I fly to or from Bristol airport, there is always a delay, cancellation or redirection!! It is not acceptable as it costs a lot of money which I will never see again.
This semi functional airport needs to operate less flights, as it clearly cannot cope or deal with the amount of flights it already has!!
They never learn
Nowhere to sit, essence lounge overbooked and customers who had paid couldn’t get in, I received a text from the airline saying flight was delayed, departure boards say gate nr soon, WiFi is very poor and customer service/ information non existent. The place never learns or improves
Noisy beyond belief.
Daparture gate so noisy staff could not get passengers attentionso gave up.
Design showed utter lack of acoustic awareness....pretty shocking for an international airport receiving jet aircraft!
Without doubt the worst airport…
Without doubt the worst airport anywhere. Ridiculously expensive to park, if you have more than one bag very difficult to navigate because of all the narrow lanes they force you to walk through. Takes an eternity to get your bags delivered when you arrive. And the staff all seem to have a complete power trip in their yellow vests. If you can, fly from somewhere else
Frankly it sucks
First of all, an astonishing £8.50 drop-off cost! Not the way to welcome people, there should be a 10 minute window for free.
Next, the staff at security were downright rude, condescending and patronising. No need to make you feel like an idiot or criminal, if you don't like to do this job with the right attitude (happy and welcoming!!) don't do it!
After our flight was indefinitely delayed due to tech problems, we have to spend a lot of money for a drink or snack to tie us over as everything is ridiculously overpriced.
Finally, it is interesting how airlines cover themselves with 'extraordinary reasons' not to be able to claim a compensation... the fact that our airplane supposedly is at the wrong airport is surely the airlines fault?!
