Shocking service for essential prescription glasses

If I could give Oakley zero stars, I would.

My prescription glasses developed a defective coating after only around 60 days. Oakley’s own optician confirmed that this was a warranty defect, yet resolving the issue has been an exhausting mess of misinformation, contradictory promises and unnecessary delays.

I was initially told by Kimberley that the issue could be resolved in store. I travelled to the Covent Garden branch, only to be told they could do nothing because the glasses had been purchased online. That incorrect information wasted my time and directly delayed the resolution.

After further chasing, Oakley confirmed in writing that my warranty claim had been approved and that a replacement would be sent before I needed to return the faulty glasses. I immediately provided the requested prescription, model information and delivery details.

Less than 24 hours later, Oakley completely reversed its position. I was told that a replacement was suddenly impossible because of a “system limitation”. Instead, I must return my glasses, wait for them to reach the distribution centre and then potentially wait another 15 business days for a refund.

These are prescription glasses, not a fashion accessory. I need them to see. Oakley expects me to surrender my essential glasses and remain visually impaired while waiting several weeks for my own money back, despite previously confirming that a replacement would be sent first.

To make matters worse, Oakley has also said it will not refund the express delivery charge. I paid for the prompt delivery of a usable product. Oakley supplied defective prescription glasses, so refusing to refund the full amount is disgraceful.

Their internal system limitations are not my responsibility. Neither are their contradictory communications, broken promises or slow internal processes.

For a supposedly premium eyewear brand, the product quality and customer service have been appalling. Oakley has shown absolutely no understanding of the seriousness of leaving someone without the prescription glasses they rely on for sight.

Defective glasses. Misleading information. A wasted journey. A confirmed replacement withdrawn within 24 hours. Weeks potentially left without suitable glasses. Shocking from start to finish.

Extremely poor product quality and even worse customer service

Extremely poor product quality and even worse customer service.

My prescription Oakley glasses are only around 60 days old, yet the coating on the lenses has already become defective. I called Oakley and spoke to Kimberley, who told me the issue could be resolved in store.

Based on that advice, I travelled to the Covent Garden store, only to be told that because the glasses were purchased online, they could not do anything until the online team authorised them. The information I was given was completely incorrect and unnecessarily delayed the entire process.

The Oakley optician inspected the glasses and confirmed that the defective coating was a warranty issue. Despite this, customer support still refused to authorise an in store repair and said the online team needed to carry out their own due diligence.

These are prescription glasses, not a fashion accessory. I have now been left without suitable vision correction for an indefinite period because Oakley’s departments cannot communicate with each other or take ownership of a clear warranty defect.

For glasses of this price and only 60 days old, this is completely unacceptable. Poor product quality, false information and appalling customer service.

1 Star – Shambolic Service, Constant Excuses and Zero Accountability

My experience with Octopus EV has been nothing short of shambolic.
For a service costing me in excess of £20,000 per year, I expected professionalism, accountability and competent customer service. Instead, I have experienced months of excuses, contradictory information, broken promises and an astonishing lack of ownership.

The latest example perfectly sums up my experience.

On 5th June, Tania Stewart explicitly advised me that my account had already been paused to prevent automated payment requests, that Octopus would ensure my employer's payroll deductions were updated accordingly, and that any processing errors would be rectified immediately.

Weeks later, I have now been informed by another member of the Octopus EV team that none of this could actually be finalised because a collection date had not been confirmed. I am now being told that my employer may still process a full month's salary sacrifice deduction because no finalised billing information has been issued.

So why was I told otherwise?

This has been a recurring theme throughout my dealings with Octopus EV. Information provided one week is contradicted the next. Matters described as resolved suddenly become unresolved. Every delay is accompanied by another explanation, another excuse and another reason why something couldn't be done.

What makes this even more disappointing is that I escalated my concerns directly to CEO Gurjeet. Despite raising the matter at the highest level, nothing meaningful changed. The issue was simply passed down the chain and I never received any meaningful follow up. When a customer feels compelled to contact the CEO because normal channels have failed, they should expect more than a delegation email and silence thereafter.

To make matters worse, I have previously been asked by Tania to amend earlier reviews despite the underlying issues remaining unresolved.

I found this particularly disappointing. Customers should not be encouraged to improve reviews while the service itself continues to fall far below an acceptable standard. The focus should be on fixing the problems, not managing public perception.

The reality is that I have spent months chasing updates, correcting inaccuracies, seeking clarification and trying to obtain answers that should have been readily available from the outset. The burden has consistently fallen on me as the customer.
The most damaging aspect is the complete erosion of trust. When a company repeatedly provides information that later turns out to be inaccurate or incomplete, customers naturally lose confidence in everything they are told.

My Porsche Macan EV has spent a significant amount of time off the road with faults, yet dealing with Octopus EV has often been more frustrating than dealing with the vehicle issues themselves. Every stage of this process has felt reactive, disjointed and poorly managed.

For a company taking over £20,000 per year from a customer, the service I have received has been wholly unacceptable. Premium pricing should come with premium service. Instead, I have experienced constant excuses, poor communication, contradictory information and a complete lack of accountability.

I cannot recommend Octopus EV based on my experience.

Avoid, Extremely Disappointing,

I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from Octopus Electric Vehicles throughout what has already been an incredibly frustrating experience.

I purchased a very expensive Porsche Macan EV through Octopus EV at a cost of over £2,000 per month. Over a year later, the vehicle is STILL not fixed, yet I continue paying full price every single month. While the ongoing vehicle issues are unacceptable in themselves, the biggest failure here has been the shockingly poor customer service from Octopus EV.

After previously leaving a negative review, communication suddenly improved. I genuinely thought things were finally being taken seriously. However, shortly afterwards, Tania asked me to amend my previous review due to the “improved communication.” Unfortunately, the moment that review was changed, the communication completely fell off a cliff again. That says everything.

Dealing with Tania has been exhausting. The service is like a swing, you never know what you are going to get. It is either 5 star attention or complete silence, nothing in between. I was specifically promised the last time that I would not find myself in another communication blackout. Yet here we are again.

I was promised a callback over a week ago, which never happened. Then I was told Friday. Then yesterday. Still nothing. Excuses around workload and caseloads are repeatedly mentioned, but as a paying customer spending over £2,000 per month, that is frankly not my problem. Right now, I genuinely feel like I am being taken for a ride.

To make matters worse, I was also told nearly a month ago that someone named Emma would be getting in contact. That has also never happened.

The lack of accountability, lack of follow through, broken promises, and inconsistent communication have completely destroyed any confidence I had in Octopus EV. Paying premium money should come with premium service. Instead, I have received delay after delay, excuse after excuse, and some of the worst customer service I have experienced.

I would strongly advise others to think very carefully before using Octopus Electric Vehicles. Based on my experience, once the contract is signed, customer care appears to become an afterthought.

Shocking Service, But Ongoing Vehicle Issues

Another Update:
I previously amended my review following what appeared to be an improvement in service from Octopus EV. I did so in good faith. Unfortunately, that improvement was short-lived, and I now find myself back in the same position, or worse.

I purchased a Porsche Macan EV through Octopus EV at a cost of over £2,000 per month. Over a year later, the vehicle remains unresolved and unfixed, yet I continue paying full price every single month. The ongoing vehicle issues are unacceptable in themselves, but the biggest failure throughout this entire process has been the inconsistency and lack of accountability from Octopus EV.

After my original negative review, communication improved noticeably. I was then asked by Tania to amend my review based on that improvement. I agreed. Shortly afterwards, communication fell off a cliff again. That sequence of events says everything.

Dealing with Tania has been an exhausting experience. The service swings between 5-star attention and complete silence, with nothing in between. I was explicitly promised I would not find myself in another communication blackout. Yet here we are again.

I was promised a callback over a week ago. Then Friday. Then yesterday. Still nothing. Repeated mentions of workload and caseload pressures may be genuine, but as a customer paying over £2,000 per month, that is not my problem. I was also told nearly a month ago that someone named Emma would be in contact. That has never happened either.

Broken promises, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent communication have completely destroyed any confidence I had in this company. To be fair, there have been moments where Tania has been proactive and responsive, and I acknowledge that. But those moments have been undermined by the pattern of behaviour that surrounds them.

We are now at the stage of formally rejecting the vehicle, a step I did not take lightly after months of time, effort, and disruption. I remain hopeful this will be handled efficiently. Based on the overall experience to date, however, that hope is fragile.

Premium pricing should come with premium service. Based on my experience, once the contract is signed, customer care becomes an afterthought. I would strongly advise others to consider that carefully before proceeding with Octopus Electric Vehicles.

Update:
I previously raised serious concerns regarding the level of service I received from Octopus EV following the collection of my vehicle from Porsche Centre Silverstone in May.

To provide a fair and updated position, I must acknowledge that the level of service from Octopus EV has improved significantly in recent months. Communication is now more consistent, and there has been a clear effort to take ownership of the situation. In particular, Tania has been proactive, responsive, and has done her best to support and progress matters, which has made a noticeable difference to the overall experience.

However, despite these improvements in service, the underlying issue with the vehicle remains unresolved. The car has now spent a considerable amount of time in the garage, and unfortunately, Porsche has been unable to fully rectify the faults that have been present since the early stages of ownership.

As a result, and quite disappointingly, we are now left with no option but to begin the process of rejecting the vehicle. This is not a step taken lightly, particularly after months of time, effort, and disruption in attempting to resolve the issues.

I remain hopeful that this next stage will be handled efficiently and professionally, with minimal further disruption. Given the improvements already seen from Octopus EV, I am optimistic that this process will be managed more effectively and brought to a timely resolution.

Avoid Road Angel at all costs

Avoid Road Angel at all costs, the worst aftercare I have ever experienced

I spent just under £1000 with Road Angel for what I thought would be a premium setup, the Halo Elite front and rear dash cams, the Pure Sync device, an external battery pack and a full professional hard wire installation, all supplied and arranged by Road Angel.

Things started off well enough. Delivery was prompt, the installation was booked quickly and their third party installer seemed to do a good job. Unfortunately, everything fell apart the moment I actually started using the products.

The Halo Elite Dash Cam
The front camera has decent picture quality, but the rear camera is completely useless at night unless there happens to be a very bright external light source. For a camera marketed as premium, this is unacceptable.

There is also no manual emergency recording mode on any of the buttons. Recently I had a near miss and the only way I could save the footage was by trying to remember the exact time. My previous dash cams, Thinkware and Nextbase, both had a simple button that would immediately protect the footage from 30 seconds before and 2 minutes after. Road Angel, nothing. Poor design and even poorer usability.

The biggest disaster, the Pure Sync
This device was professionally hard wired into the Road Angel external battery. Despite this, it requires me to physically unplug and reconnect the cable every single journey just to power up. Even when using the magnetic base, it refuses to start without manual intervention. A completely pointless device that defeats the purpose of hard wiring in the first place.

It freezes constantly, displays 0 mph when I am doing 70 mph and generally behaves like a faulty prototype rather than a finished product. I have video evidence of this happening.

The support, absolutely shocking
I contacted Road Angel support and dealt with Gopal Kendapadi. He was entirely unhelpful. He did not listen to the issue at all and simply insisted there was a hard wire mode I needed to activate. When I explained I could not find this setting and even sent him a screenshot, he said he would escalate and get back to me within 24 hours.

That was seven days ago. No reply, no update, nothing.

His explanation, that both products are new and will have “issues”, has to be the most disappointing and unprofessional statement I have heard from a tech support advisor. At this price point, and from a company positioning itself as a premium brand, this is unacceptable.

In summary
What started as a five star experience quickly deteriorated into a zero star disaster. Faulty devices, poor design, constant freezing, unreliable hardware and abysmal aftercare. Road Angel has completely failed to deliver even the basics, let alone the premium experience I paid for.

If you value your money, your car or your peace of mind, avoid Road Angel entirely. I wish I had.

A Complete Shambles of a Service

I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from Tech Pack. I lost my phone on the 3rd of October (a Friday) and submitted a claim straight away. I was then asked to provide documentation, which I promptly obtained from my network provider and submitted. I was told the review would take two days.

After waiting, I was suddenly asked for different documentation, which would take another two days to review. Then, to make matters worse, the original documentation I was first asked for was rejected entirely. I was then told to provide the original email chain for both pieces of documentation, which I did. One was accepted, and the other was rejected again — with no clear explanation as to why.

When I called customer services, they admitted they had no idea why one document had been accepted and the other rejected. I was told it would have to go back to the validation team and that I’d need to wait yet another two days.

To add to the saga, 48 hours after the Proof of Usage was rejected (falsely), I found out that the agent I spoke to on Monday never actually forwarded my email to the validations team as he said he would. I spoke to two more agents today, who assured me I would receive a response by 5:30 p.m. When that time came and went with no update, I called again — only to be told that the agents hadn’t done what they promised. The person I spoke to then said he would forward my email to validations and escalations, which would take another 48 hours. When I insisted on speaking to a manager, I was told it would now be “fast-tracked,” meaning yet another 24 hours.

This entire experience has been nothing short of abysmal. I have been a Tech Pack customer for over eight years and have only ever made one previous claim for accidental damage. It now feels like they are deliberately dragging things out and finding excuses not to fulfil a legitimate claim.

It has been well over ten days since I lost my phone, and I am still without a replacement. The service is completely unacceptable. Shambles of a company — avoid like the plague.

Update to reply: Hi Anne Marie, just to let you know I replied to your request for information around two hours ago.

Update to Anne Marie 2: Hi Anne Marie,

It seems the incompetence at Tech Pack continues. I sent in the full email trail on 9 October, which your agents confirmed receipt of on Monday 13 October. I was assured at that time it had been a mistake and would be resent to validations, with a response expected within 48 hours — by 15 October.

When I did not receive any response, I spoke to three agents yesterday, including Nicole and Tiffany, who both confirmed I would receive an update by 17:30. This did not happen. When I called again at 17:30, the agent I spoke to said he had resent the email to validations, as the agent on Monday had apparently failed to do so.

For clarity, the claim number was included in the email body, so please do not ask again for information that was already provided seven days ago.

Update 3: Do you think it is appropriate that after providing all the information requested for validations and waiting five business days, I am now being asked to wait a further 48 hours for a call back?

The agent I spoke to on Monday advised that validations had not received the email, and the same was said by the agent I spoke to yesterday. How are key documents repeatedly being missed when I have already sent everything that was requested?

I raised a support ticket via your website three days ago and have not received any response to date. This level of service is unacceptable, particularly as I am unable to take phone calls during working hours and require written updates.

Your customer service is practically non-existent. The overall service has been terrible, with broadband speeds that are abysmal, even when connected directly by wire. In fact, the performance is worse than a non-fibre BT connection.

Initial Disappointment Offset by Honest Customer Service Response

Update:

Following my original review, I did proceed with the 200-mile round trip, uncertain if the funds had been transferred and fully aware I might be turned away. Fortunately, upon arrival, the vehicle was ready and the funds had been received.

Dani, a Customer Care Executive at Octopus, reached out to acknowledge that the situation was far from ideal. She has been transparent about the shortcomings, confirmed that learnings have been taken from this incident, and has genuinely tried to make things right retrospectively. While the experience was undeniably frustrating, Dani’s response has prompted me to update my overall score to reflect the effort made post-incident.

Original Review:
Less than 12 hours before the scheduled collection of my new vehicle, I was informed that Octopus had still not paid the dealer—despite the delivery date being confirmed over two weeks ago. I’m now faced with the prospect of making a 200-mile round trip to potentially be turned away. This is for a vehicle worth over £100,000, with a substantial monthly lease payment attached.

To make matters worse, I was cleared to sell my existing vehicle in anticipation of the new one, and I am now left without any transport at all.

The entire process has been riddled with poor communication. My leasing handler, Hargun, has regularly failed to respond to emails—only engaging after I’ve had to call the helpline and escalate my concerns.

This experience has completely taken the joy out of what should have been an exciting and memorable milestone. What I expected was a smooth, premium-level service. What I received was disorganised, stressful, and frustrating.

Given the size of the financial commitment, the lack of professionalism and coordination has been nothing short of unacceptable. I cannot recommend Octopus based on this experience.

AVOID. POOR COMMUNICATION. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY

This company advertises false delivery dates. I ordered a product last year and after over 60 days with the item not dispatching I had to go through a charge back to get my money back as they kept telling me to wait.

This year I though inwould give them another chance as I really like the pieces they advertise. Yet again I am experiencing the same issue. All delivery times on they website are false. They do not respond to emails enquiries. Communication is abysmally.

Not worth the hassle avoid at all cost.

Gak awful experience on the whole started well ended sour. But its delivery partner Fedex was abysmal and the way Gak handled it was bot not the best. I ordered a product for next day delivery. I received a text saying i had till midnight to make changes to delivery address. O request the product be delivered to a fedex pick up point. In the morning i was told it would be delivered via tracking/email. When the parcel was not delivered by 6pm i contacted Gak who apologised and said it would be delivered the next day. This was confirmed by a follow up email from Gak. But once again i was let down. When queried i was made to feel i was the problem. I supplied evidence in full and only then did gak get fedex to call me who admitted it was an error in there system. What I'm getting at is i used gak not fed ex i should not have tondo the Chasing. I'm really sorry for all the trouble this caused you, Sharjeel. We have been speaking to FedEx about this and the issue has been raised with our account manager. I totally agree with you and it's not the kind of service we expect from our couriers. Last year FedEx suspended all customer depot collections and collections from drop off points. They have only recently rolled out the customer collection service once more, and unfortunately as you experienced they are having a few teething issues. We are led to believe that the service is now running properly so we shouldn't have any more cases such as this, but I am really sorry for all the hassle this caused you and I apologise that you had to spend time chasing this. We really understand how important the delivery is to the shopping experience as a whole. We use a number of different couriers in order to offer our customers maximum coverage and flexibility. I'm so sorry that the service from FedEx fell short this time. I will of course flag this again with our account manager at our next meeting to make sure the error on their system has now since been identified and corrected. FedEx let us down on this one and I'm sorry if we could have handled this a little better and kept you more informed.
