Evaluating 3,322 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people frequently complained about exceptionally rude staff members, unprofessional behavior, and unhelpful customer service teams that completely failed to resolve booking issues and refund requests. Travelers also encountered frustrating flight delays, dirty cabins, and sudden extra charges for luggage, airport check-in procedures, and seat selections. Some reviewers were satisfied with the service, explicitly noting friendly personnel, efficient check-in processes, and genuinely helpful assistance throughout their journey. These consumers appreciated smooth flights and straightforward solutions when managing their travel plans without experiencing unexpected complications, delays, or hidden fees.

Boycott them

Hopefully never fly with Ryanair again 2 years running they have cancelled my winter flights to Malta they don't give a toss about what there putting customers through trying to arrange flights this year it looks like more airports are affected from November to January why are the powers that be allowing them to keep selling winter flights and then cancelling them all tour operators should boycott them as it greatly affects them having to arrange flights or holidays
Maybe cheap but not reliable at least there are more companies flying out of Birmingham in the winter now

Ryanair put my family at risk and abandoned vulnerable passengers.

On 5 September, my family and I travelled overnight from Bacau to Otopeni to catch our Ryanair flight to Edinburgh at 12:10. We arrived at 9am,plenty of time, and immediately went to check in our luggage. We waited until 11am just for the check‑in desk to appear on the board, and even then only one desk was operating, creating an enormous queue. A second desk finally opened at 11:39.

Because my 72‑year‑old mum has mobility issues, I took her through security while my husband and brother stayed behind to finish checking in the luggage. We had paid extra for legroom seats for all four of us.

When I boarded with my mum, I found someone already sitting in my husband’s seat,an extremely large passenger who was also covering half of my seat. Before I could even address that, I received a message from my husband saying that he and my brother had been denied boarding. Their luggage was checked in, they were at the airport in time, and yet Ryanair refused to let them on the plane.

Later, my husband told me that 23 other passengers were also left behind. Ryanair had clearly overbooked the flight, yet on board I counted only three empty seats.

The most dangerous part:
My husband’s insulin was in my backpack on the plane.
He has type 1 diabetes. Ryanair left him stranded without his medication.

As I write this on 6 Septemberat 19:10 my husband and brother are still not home.

This was not just poor service, it was negligence. Ryanair showed no care for vulnerable passengers, no responsibility for their own overbooking, and no concern for the medical risk they created. I will never trust them again.

Joke of an airline

If I could rate this pathetic airline zero stars, it still wouldn’t be sufficient.

Myself, my partner and our one-year-old son flew from Manchester to Alicante last Sunday. We had no issues during check-in; the lady in Manchester who helped us was beyond amazing. It was the contracted wannabes in Alicante, however, who need to be trained—not only in customer service but also in the airline’s policies and how to address people.

We got to Alicante Airport the morning of our flight and, because the airline doesn’t want to pay THEIR own staff to do the job they get paid for, we had to check in our bags ourselves. This isn’t an issue in itself—the world is going this way, and you serve yourself in supermarkets, etc.—but when they have a pathetic system that explains nothing and is just a pure guessing game, things just get passed off onto you for the blame.

We checked in our bags and got labels for our son’s pram and bag. The bag, which I may add, is a baby bag that is FREE, apparently up to 5kg, that we could take on board with us.

The rude, arrogant lady by the name of Camilla at the gate was about as much use as the letter G in the word “lasagne.” The wannabe—or should I say nobody—walked up and down like she was patrolling a prison, demanding boarding passes. We happily showed them to her, at which point she rudely pointed to our son’s bag and said, “This isn’t going on board unless you pay.”

The FREE bag was not going on board because she said so and seemed to be making up her own rules and regulations as she went along. After a dispute about Ryanair themselves confirming via email prior to the flight that the bag was allowed, she proceeded to tell us it was too big according to the metal barrier she placed in front of us, which had incorrect dimensions on it because Ryanair’s website says completely different dimensions.

After my partner going back and forth with her about the bag not being too big, she said we weren’t allowed to board until the final call. Bearing in mind we have a one-year-old, she had no empathy whatsoever. She just wanted money for the bag before we could get on. Clearly, her commissions were a bit low last month, so she wanted to make up for some losses.

By this point, everybody was nearly boarded, and we needed to get home with our son, so we paid for the FREE bag to get past her bank-vault-style security.

I asked her if I could pay by card, to which she said yes, but, “I don’t have a card machine. I need your card.”

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m no expert, but surely this is some form of GDPR violation? She now had my card and was taking down the card number, expiry date and security code. Clearly, she wanted to treat herself on me for being a b!tch

100% will not be travelling with this company again. I know it’s a budget airline and you get what you pay for, but some empathy and somebody who can tell their arse from their head would be better for the customer and the company.

These third-party people, who don’t even know what day of the week it is, need to be replaced because they think they know best when they don’t.

This company is the absolute pits

This company is the absolute pits. I can’t think of anything good to say about them. Extortionate excess baggage charges for the same carry on luggage we took out of Birmingham Airport. At Faro it wasn’t accepted! Airplane seating is desperately uncomfortable. Staff don’t seem to care about paying customers at all. This company is purely in it to make as much money as they can. I CERTAINLY WILL NOT BE FLYING RYANAIR EVER AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND.

We were deliberately seated far apart…

We were deliberately seated far apart even though we bought two tickets. I'm seated with an empty seat on either side of me, and my wife is seated at the opposite end of the plane. The aim is to force us to pay to sit together. It's legal, yes, but it's really dishonest.

Avoid Ryanair if you need to be treated with care and compassion …

We needed to change the passenger name on a ticket to fly a close friend home from Podgorica to London Stansted on Friday 4th September. Our friend is in her 80s and was fit to fly but needed to get back to the UK for urgent medical treatment. Ryanair staff could not have been more unhelpful. We had to book new tickets for the next day with BA. Meanwhile our friend was in pain, with a worsening condition. We know that there are many hidden costs attached to Ryanair flights - it’s shameful that they think it is fine for older people in need of care to pay these, and be treated this way. Never flying Ryanair again!!

Ryanair charged me £55 for airport…

Ryanair charged me £55 for airport check-in after their own app failed.

I tried repeatedly to check in online using the Ryanair app before my flight, but it would not allow me to complete the check-in process. When I arrived at the airport and explained that I had been unable to check in because of the app issue, I was told I had to pay a £55 airport check-in fee or I would not be allowed to board my flight.

I had no real choice but to pay, as refusing would have meant missing my flight. I find it unacceptable that passengers can be penalised and forced to pay additional fees when the problem appears to be caused by Ryanair’s own technology.

Customer service at the airport showed no flexibility and made no effort to investigate the issue before demanding payment. Being charged £55 for something that was outside my control felt unfair and unreasonable.

I have submitted a complaint and requested a refund. Until Ryanair takes responsibility for app failures and treats customers more fairly in situations like this, I cannot recommend their service.

Ryanair

Ryanair — absolutely unacceptable.

I was denied boarding with my child. I even agreed to pay an additional €60 to resolve the issue, but Ryanair could not process the payment from either my card or my husband’s card.

We were left at the airport and did not take the flight. The tickets were completely unused.

Yet Ryanair refuses to refund our money.

How is it acceptable to keep money for a service that was never provided?

No flight. No solution. No refund. Just excuses.

I will not let this go.

Awful from start to finish

Awful from start to finish. All the airport self service check-ins were not yet logged in when we arrived at 10am. One operator on the desk and the baggage carousel not working so nobody could put luggage in. Eventually someone came and set the self-service check-ins to operate.

Despite buying a specifically labelled ‘Ryanair approved cabin bag’ and measuring several times to ensure it was exactly within the free cabin bag allowance size’, was told at the gate that it wasn’t and indeed it would not fit in sideways to their (smaller than advertised) measured box. Aggressive bag handler, forced to pay £60 there and then. The woman beside us who had the same experience was forced to pay £75, and neither of us got a receipt. This happened again and again so clearly some way to make more money. Plane late and dirty with chewing gum stuck to the pull down tray table on the seat.

Terrible experience and very glad we’ve booked with a different airline for our return flights. Never again.

Terrible company and never flying with them again.
Onboard payment was taken twice and I am now 3 weeks on and still not refunded. Every time I raise a query to get this resolved it gets closed saying “resolved” even though it hasn’t.
Very budget airline with very budget after sales/customer service. Jet2 and Easyjet are so much better

Don’t book don’t use it’s a scam

0/5 — Absolutely unacceptable. Never again.

If I could give Ryanair ZERO stars, I would.

Our flight from Tirana to London has been delayed repeatedly since yesterday. Every couple of hours, we are given another delay, another departure time, and different information. Delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed — with no clear or reliable explanation of what is actually happening.

This is now the SECOND time we have had to leave the airport and book another hotel ourselves because the information we were given turned out to be inaccurate or misleading. We have had to pay for accommodation and transportation out of our own pockets, not once, but twice.

We are simply being told to pay for everything ourselves and “claim it back.” But that does not solve the situation passengers are being put through. People may not have hundreds of pounds available to keep paying for hotels, taxis, food and other expenses while an airline repeatedly changes its flight information.

The stress and uncertainty this has caused are unbelievable. We make arrangements based on the information Ryanair gives us, only to have that information change again a couple of hours later. We then have to start all over again — finding another hotel, arranging transport, paying again, and trying to work out what we are supposed to do.

There has also been practically no one at Tirana Airport to properly help, guide or assist us. We have felt completely abandoned and left to deal with everything ourselves.

What upset me even more was seeing how this affected other passengers. There were elderly people, families with children, and disabled passengers who were also stuck in this situation. I was fortunate enough to have internet access and be able to search for hotels, make bookings and arrange things myself. Not everybody has the ability, internet access, money or confidence to do that. What are those passengers supposed to do?

Passengers should not be left stranded for more than a day, repeatedly given changing information, and expected to arrange and pay for everything themselves with little or no assistance.

This has been one of the worst and most stressful airline experiences I have ever had. I have completely lost trust in Ryanair.

I will NEVER fly with Ryanair again, and based on what we have experienced, I cannot recommend this airline to anyone.

A cheap ticket is absolutely not worth this level of stress, uncertainty, additional expense and lack of customer care.

ZERO STARS. Never again.

Ryanair are the biggest RIP OFFS

Ryanair are the biggest RIP OFFS. I would give them 0 stars if I could. They charged my daughter and I £75 each because our cabin bags would not fit in their tiny luggage measurer. Times are hard as it is for people. This was Manchester airport. I wont be travelling with this crap airline ever again. I believe they get commission for each bag🤬🤬🤬

Absolutely awful airline

Absolutely awful airline, customer service is shocking. We paid for 1 cabin bag when booking tickets from Barcelona to London, Luton. Despite showing our e tickets & boarding cards to a physical man at check in, we were shocked when they asked us to pay for cabin bag (already paid for when buying tickets ) at boarding gate. They make their money of baggage - these thieves!!! Same airline, money paid, baggage on same plane. Making money twice & extortionate!!
The staff are so rude! Telling us it is your fault because u self checked in when in reality a physical man told us where to put the check in bag (20 kg) on the belt!! A poor lady with 3 children wasn’t allowed the pushchair and she was in tears!!! Absolutely disgraceful behaviour and really cheapest airline!! Pure trash!!!
