Feels like a scam. I prepaid for my 2026 service, but was still charged for applications this year. When I called to cancel, she applied coupons instead of canceling, so I had to reiterate I was cance... See more

The TruGreen, in homewood, alabama. WORSE MANAGERS EVER!!! They treat their employees like they aren't good enough. Mike and Kyle do not know how to give fair opportunities to the ones who deserve it. They do not show appreciation to the employees who have been there the longest and work the hardest. LARRY IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF AN EMPLOYEE THAT GOES THE DISTANCE FOR HIS CUSTOMERS. BEING ONE MYSELF. He has been doing my yard for a year now and always makes it better and very informative about everything I ask.
But His equipment always seems to break down and he ends up walking the massive yards that we have down here in Tuscaloosa. YOU need to give him a raise for dealing with a company who doesn't seem to care about there employee or his wellbeing!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had TruGreen out here several times now, my Lawn is still full of weeds, the grass is thinning. It looks horrible like they did not put any product under the grass to make it get better.
I am very disappointed with them. They used to be fantastic.
We have them for last few years and every year effect of their treatments gets worse .grass get moore weed and trees are dying.I tired to complain with photo by email and got cold reply.surprised to see email reply by different person each time .so far i had 6 different people responding and no one replied with reassurance or apology or what they can do to help.
Horrible! We had beautiful grass but no time to care for it so we hired TruGreen and in less than two years, they have now ruined our grass. And, to make matters worse, they tell you they have new hires that don’t yet know how to care for grass, the local Manager is a liar and unresponsive, and you cannot reach the Corporate Office. Not recommended!
Very very bad they killed my grass.I spend a lot of money for nothing.
They show up at 6am, never get out of the vehicle and claim to have serviced the yard. My neighbor has blink cameras that verified this for me. When a complaint was made my mother was told that the service had been performed, basically that she was lying. They said that they would send someone out to do a redo, my mom pointed out to them that you cannot redo what you never did. Also they are supposed to call before entering because of the dog, which would not allow them into the property without being put up. 🙄 more proof that the service was never completed. Currently I have avoided all the weeds and allowed them to grow so that they can tell the difference between the grass and the weeds!

I had TruGreen last year and tried to cancel because they killed the grass in my backyard. It is nothing but dirt and weeds all the grass is gone. They wouldn't listen they just kept sending a person out and then sent me a huge bill for services that I had canceled. I was also getting mosquito and flea treatment but was constantly getting bite. When I called she said well he is only spraying the backyard. Why? Then I had to start watching them because my neighbor said that there had been a few times that the person that came out just walked to the backyard fence and then left without treating.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! We have 2 acres of SODDED tall fescue, irrigated with an automatic sprinkler system. Subsequent to hiring TruGreen to take care of the grass, now 1/2 of our grass is dead. They do not do a soil test or visual inspection to see what the grass needs. 1) They over fertilized and burnt the grass, 2) Once they ran over and broke the back-flow
and left without informing us, 3) The applied pre-emergence & weed control along with fertilizer which caused the Dallas grass and weeds to grow rampant. They are a national company and treat all climates and soil the same. THEY KILLED OUR GRASS … DON’T LET THEM KILL YOURS.

We have been with TruGreen for around five years. We complained last year, and we have complained repeatedly throughout this year. Our lawn has never looked worse. We currently have crabgrass, nutsedge, and broadleaf weeds throughout the lawn.
Each time we complain, they provide a “free service,” but none of these treatments has corrected the problems. At this point, I honestly feel like they are only spraying water.
On one occasion, we actually witnessed the technician sitting in his truck and then driving away without doing anything. We, of course, reported this to TruGreen.
At this point, I’m going to discontinue their service and find another, more reputable lawn-care company.

Horrible company. Harassing, poor service and will charge you for services not requested.
Employees never showed up, I was charge for service and never received it. The employees even texted me saying they were on the property doing work and I was standing in my front yard seeing nobody. They even gave me a text that they were complete and nothing was done, they never showed. Each time I called them they said someone will be coming out to address the problem. Nobody showed up but they sure was going to keep my money and not return a dime. Save your money and get anyone but them. A monkey could have done a better job with one banana in his hand.

The local True Green scheduled a repeat of a lawn reseeding without asking my permission. In addition, they frequently missed areas of my lawn for both fertilizer and weed control applications.

Your tech Eric from the Cutler Ridge, MiamiFlorida was professional courteous and very knowledgeable. Please recognize Eric.

My wife and I interviewed several lawn companies before choosing TG. We did our homework, got a glowing recommendation from a neighbor, and signed up for what we thought was a straightforward 1-year package—aeration, overseeding, fertilization, and weed/grub control—for $725. We signed in September 2025 with a start date of October 2025.
The first few visits were promising. We received timely text reminders, the technicians were courteous, and we appreciated their use of technology. So far, so good.
Then came the 1st aeration. We got the usual text, unlocked our gate, and left to run errands. When we returned, we were shocked. The lawn looked worse than before—deep ruts and plugs everywhere, but especially on our driveway and sidewalks. I called immediately. To their credit, TG was apologetic, sent a rep the next day to repair and reseed the damage, and subtracted the cost from our bill. We felt heard.
After that, the upselling began. First came warnings of a "nasty mosquito season," then an "enormous Japanese beetle cloud" was heading our way. They wanted to sell us an insecticide/ pesticide treatment. It felt less like care and more like a sales pitch.
From November 2025 through July 2026, we had no issues. But this month (August 2026) left us dumbfounded. A rep arrived for the 2nd aeration/seeding visit—this time done flawlessly, no damage—but we were suddenly charged $186 for the service? Keep in mind: our 1-year package hadn't even ended yet!
When I called to question it, I was told that our $725 was never actually a "package." It was simply a prepaid balance, and we had run out of funds. According to TG, their sales reps should never have described it as a yearly plan.
We paid the $186 to close things out, then immediately cancelled our "package." The operator then tried to offer us discounts on remaining treatments—after we had just been told none existed.
Bottom line: The field team is professional, and when mistakes happen, they do try to make it right. But the billing is misleading at best, and the constant upselling wears thin. Just be absolutely sure you understand what you're actually paying for—because what they sell and what they deliver on paper may not be the same thing.
* UPDATE: TruGreen has called me no less than 3x to find out why we cancelled and how they could make it right. Plus 3 days after posting this review, they posted the canned response below. Being curious, I visited the address they gave and landed on their website which has absolutely no tabs or links to post a review, only a phone number to to start this whole, whorling vortex of deception again. Don’t fall for it.

Total waste of time and money. When I hired them they told me it would take a season to get my lawn in shape. No problem. Well, that didn't happen. My lawn got worse. The guys that come out, just do what they're told to do. Regardless of what your lawn looks like. A guy named Alex in the Atlanta market told me to be patient. "By end of summer it'll look much better". I've been with them a year and my lawn looks awful. Weeds keep coming with no slowing down. Total rip off. Save your money.

I had some weeds that were springing up and I call to get them treated. It was taking awhile for them to get there so I called Adam Thompson who got it immediately resolved and they arrived the next day. Adam is always polite and responsive. Phil Schock came out and did an excellent job treating the area. Phil took time to explain what to expect and what was going to happen. Phil also explained I had bent grass and what needed to be done to treat it. Phil was very knowledgeable in lawn care.

I've had Trugreen for years and when I first had them everything was great. The service though has gone down every year. This year they kept fertilizing my lawn and burned it. The lawn looks worse than it did in the first year I started. Holes in the grass everywhere, crabgrass growing all over. I told technician after technician about the problems and no one ever got back to me, no one ever addressed the problems.
Do not give them your money, do not trust them with your lawn!

I can't recommend this company at all. From the sales rep to application technician all they did was misrepresent their services, payment plan, treatment area, square foot estimate, days they would do the application work, etc.
The Sales Rep quoted one price with discounts and still charged another. He promised I wouldn't be charged until after the application. I was despite the fact I told them in writing not to do so. I notified Corp Manager it was the wrong sq ft estimate, wrong payment plan, received nothing in writing from the Sales Rep, wasn't shown the tablet he wrote on, and he was physically here misrepresenting and misquoting services to me. The sod is dead because builder put in wrong kind of grass. Huge weeds grew up. I only wanted weeds killed so that area could be reseeded. I don't know if it would come back. They said nothing about weed whacking them down before any treatment. The grass doesn't need to be mowed. Three times in three weeks they were scheduled to spray the weeds and never did. They had a variety of excuses for not showing up incl going to wrong property, not telling me they were even here, grass too high and needs mowing before treating (it's dead), and there's a lot of dirt so not mowing just killing weeds, those other areas needing to be mowed are crabgrass and not treating to grow.
I had one very small area to be done in front of house to do now. The whole yard is a mess from Builder. I needed it done to look nice for renting tenants. They wasted three weeks of my time where I needed the weeds dead plus charged me for nothing but stress of waiting. There are tree stumps thrown everywhere from builder (who ripped them out without permission and left them and branches laying around.) The grass grew up around it so you can't really mow before totally removing stumps. I told them this.
I was charged full price for 3900 sq ft despite the fact they never measured the area to be done in each single treatment. Corp manager said one thing and local manager said something different. The application guy never spoke to me in person and got info wrong. They never measured area to get the proper sq ft which was about 200 sq ft v. the 3900 sq ft they had quoted me I didnt know about. The price was for that without promised discount but never told me. I didn't know this which was probably the whole property I specifically said didn't want done.
I cancelled them and am filing fraud charges with the NC DOJ. They were told repeatedly not to charge me. It's against NC law to deceive and defraud a disabled senior person in a business relationship. It's a $20,000 criminal penalty. I am not prosecuting them just notifying government of this company defrauding seniors and disabled. It will take 3-5 days to get my money refunded to me they weren't supposed to take out in the first place, which their sales rep told me they wouldn't until after application. Ad they never did ANY application. I never received a "Welcome" letter from Sales Rep or anything in writing after tablet stuff, nor did he show me what he wrote on the tablet. He and the treatment person should be terminated or at very least reprimanded. I have no idea how many people they bilk this way in my area misrepresenting this company. The NC local application person said he didn't have to do what the Corp Manager said. I only talked to him on phone. He was rude and defensive. He also couldn't seem to grasp that what he kept saying had to be mowed couldn't be mowed due to tree stumps, and I didnt want it treated to begin with.
I finally bought a non-toxic weed killer from Lowes and have a weed whacker I'll have somebody do for me. Honestly, this is the worst landscaping company I've ever dealt with. It's truly ridiculous.
Even Customer Support is bad. Wrote several emails with picture of my house, and explained it. When you call in about problems they said they'd send a link via text so you could chat with agent and not wait for them to answer phone. It didn't work. The link sent by text just kept saying "Hi' without ever having an agent come on. Despite emails denying permission to charge me they did so anyway knowing no treatment done. Then told me too bad I had to wait 3-5 days to get my refund for services they never provided.
They should pay ME for MY wasted time. I needed it done to rent rooms out by certain time. I may still sue them for losing me potential tenants due to their fraud, misrepresentation, and lost time. If I could give Zero stars I would.

You made my lawn look like crap. I have about 20 squares 4 foot by 10 foot that are dead, my lawn looks like a checker board. I have a lot of pics and l will put them all over the web. I need you to do more than just a little bit. John S

This is the second year I have used Trugreen. I should have stopped last year. Both years they didn’t apply pre-emergent until mid to late March which is too late. When I did my lawn myself I applied it in mid to late February. So I have crabgrass everywhere. I complained after the last treatment about clover everywhere. It’s not even half gone, And supposedly they sprayed for nutsedge but I have nutsedge everywhere. I’ll never use them again after this year.
