Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 66 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently reported that the medical sensors are unreliable, frequently falling off after a few days or failing before their expected lifespan, while providing inaccurate glucose readings compared against traditional manual testing methods. Consumers additionally struggled significantly with unhelpful support teams, excessively long phone wait times, and rigid company policies regarding product replacements for defective items. Some reviewers were happy with the customer service interactions, noting that representatives were very helpful, polite, and sent necessary product replacements promptly free of charge. A few other people also felt that the monitoring devices are quite convenient for daily health management when they happen to function properly.

Since I moved to the Libre 3 Plus…

Since I moved to the Libre 3 Plus sensor about half of my sensors have failed. Granted Abbott has replaced them but they have a serious QC problem or maybe design problem.
Abbott have been good to replaced failed units but that seems so ineffective. It does not appear their competitors are doing much better.

Been on hold now for 45 minutes to get help with sensor problem. Go anywhere but here, as they say "your call is important to us" but it is not true.

Abbott pase makers STINKS

Abbott pase maker that my wife had DID NOT work , it NEVER went off when it was needed and she died because the company produced a POOR unit . To make it even worse the unit never sent any signal and about a little more than a month later the company called us to setup an appointment,I told them she died over month ago . I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone not even an ENEMY. They had a recall and I BELIEVE they knew they had and have PROBLEMS long before the recall.PLEASE DO NOT buy there junk,I would look at MEDTRONIC, BOSTON SCIENTIFIC or BIOTTONIK . REMEMBER YOU ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE and getting there piece of SH _ _ is it worth the risk NO NO NO .IF I had millions of dollars I would buy the company and fire the management and send them to a third world country. I HOPE THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS REAL REAL REAL SOON. AGAIN REMEMBER you have only ONE LIFE.

Very unaccommodating customer service!

What a terrible company. I have diabetes type two and I’m always looking for a way to check my sugar level and A1c. So when I came to the UK, my new friend showed me the FreeStyle Libre system made by Abbott. He said it was easy and recommended it.

So I went out and bought it for 67 pounds (US$90) because I am not a member of NHS. Of course, the packaging didn’t say, nor did the pharmacist tell me, that buying a sensor in the UK would be incompatible with my American phone number. Nor did I know until I opened the package that there was only one sensor there, and it was only good for 15 days, making me realize immediately that I would not be buying a new sensor every two weeks for $90 a pop.

So the product was useless for me. I called customer support and after they told me that the freestyle system was country specific they still reused to refund me the money.

Apparently, they deserve every bad review that they get.

How Does Abbot Do Customer Service???

How Does Abbot Do Customer Service???? I called on Friday about the fact my reader is not working. The rep told me I was having problems with the reader but because it was replaced 30 days ago, I can not get it replaced because policy says only one replacement a year. Asked for a supervisor, got transferred to the Resolution Team. Talked to Tyesha and after 30 minute conversation she agreed to escalate the complaint above her and I would hear something in a couple business days. Today is now Tuesday, a couple of business days. I call back and talk to Dacker, he now tells me that it could be up to another week before a decision is made. Both Tyesha and Dacker tell me that they are the highest in the company I can talk to when I ask to speak to someone above them. So, I call 224667-6100, corporate number and connect with corporate switchboard rep, explain the above and ask for CE0 Robert Ford, she says just a minute, transfer me back to the customer service department. Call corporate again, explain the above and am told to wait a minute and then transfered back to the department that can do nothing. Call corporate again, explain the above and am told to wait a minute and after being put on hold for a lengthy time a recording comes on and tells me to call back later. Call corporate again, explain the above and am told to wait a minute and then transfered back to the department that can do nothing. Call corporate again, explain the above and am told to wait a minute and disconnected. Call corporate again, someone pick up the call and immediately disconnects. Call corporate again, someone pick up the call and immediately disconnects. So, I now sit here without a working meter and because policy is more important than customer service, I don't have a meter that works.

When my sugar level goes down very…

When my sugar level goes down very fast, it is NOT possible to get a result from the Frestyle Libre 2. WHY NOT, WHY WAIT 10 MINUTES WHY WHY WHY, affraid someone will sue Abbot and ask for financial compensation.
After 9 minutes the frestyle libre will ask to wait again for TEN minutes! Why not 1 minute??? so you need to wait exactly for TEN minutes, or more. Then you see that even in the 10minutes period there are RESULTS. WHEN YOU ARE IN A HYPO, THEN YOU WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOUR SUGAR LEVEL IS IMMEDIATLY, SO YOU DONT HAVE TIME TO GET RESULT WITH A NEEDLE AND BLOOD, SURELY WHEN THE BATTERY OF THE METER IS TOO LOW.!!!! Libre Freestyle inaccurate. I have been on Libre Freestyle 2 ( and…

I have been on Libre Freestyle 2 ( and now 2+) for several years and had no indication about how inaccurate they are until I started questioning why my HbA1c from Libre was 20 points lower than my actual blood tests over the last couple of years. Going back to finger-pricking testing and comparing with Libre shows Libre to be up to 50% inaccurate showing lower glucose readings than is true. This is a serious concern since it must be causing long term detriment to my health.
Shocking indifference from Abbott!

I would like to allow people to hear my…

I would like to allow people to hear my story before they decide on this product. About two years ago I was referred to long term pain mgmt for a supposed failed back surgery syndrome diagnosis. I started my monthly visits and they talked me into this stimulator. Extremely uncomfortable doing the temporary one, having temporary pulled out in office, going through a therapist visit, cardio clearance etc. Just to have it implanted in my back for pain.

We decided to try it as I’m not one to take pain medications other than over the counter items. We had it implanted and I saw my rep twice in the office to adjust it. Not really given the relief I was hoping for. My rep checked in on me once maybe twice in two year’s. Anywho I had an MRI planned earlier this year because said pain management that closed said something was wrong with my fusion. Nothing happens quick in my twin so it’s two months out for surgeon. My very first MRI since the implant. Oh btw if you get this implanted and you’re not good in small places you no longer can use the open MRI you are stuck with the tight enclosed old ones!!!

I contacted my rep, she was on leave. They referred me to customer care which always takes a day to return your call. They sent me to a rep that literally treated me like she was put out answering my concerning questions. Very disappointed in the customer service I received and I made it through because the MRI tech was knowledgeable!!
About a month later I showed up to my pain management office and all the doctor’s offices were locked and shut down. Just my luck!!! Found new doctors started a new journey with new doctors and I still have not been contacted by my original rep from Abbott. No ideas if she returned to work, if I was given another rep, just no idea!!!
Now here we are this week, I travelled last weekend and during travels my phone has decided to delete the app for my stimulator. I have tried for two days to contact customer service and they return calls from unlisted numbers, go figure. I don’t answer unlisted phone calls. I saved the 800 in my phone list hopefully they call again today.

Do NOT get this stimulator implanted, they offer no support, no customer service, no empathy for people going through chronic pain.
Their reps are inconsiderate and they do not check in on their implanted patients after the stimulator is implanted!!! Here’s the implant your on your own!!!

That’s this companies motto!!!

Sincerely,

An Abbott patient that is getting this stimulator taken out asap for lack of concern to the patient!! Mrs. Cook.

FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus — two sensors, neither lasted its 15 daysI bought this as a non-diabetic wanting…

I bought this as a non-diabetic wanting to understand my glucose patterns over a few weeks. I got useful data, but not from either sensor lasting as advertised.

Sensor 1 shut itself down on day 4 of 15, after an hour of "Sensor Error — readings paused" followed by "Replace Sensor."

Sensor 2 failed worse. On day 8 it displayed "LO (out of range)" — meaning below 40 mg/dL. My calibrated Contour Next meter read 128 at the same moment. That is not drift; that is a sensor giving a critically wrong reading rather than failing safe. For me it was an annoyance. For someone on insulin who trusted that number and treated a hypoglycemia that wasn't happening, it could be dangerous. That is my main concern with this product.

On durability. The 15-day claim doesn't match what I experienced. After one or two showers the adhesive begins lifting at the edges. Once that happens the sensor moves slightly with normal activity and pressure, and my impression is that the filament gets disturbed — after which readings become erratic and eventually unusable. It behaves like a device designed for a shorter life than it's sold for.

On wearability. It's genuinely difficult to sleep with. There's no comfortable position on the side where it's fitted, and pressure on it produces false low readings ("compression lows") that look alarming until you learn to recognise them. Alternating arms helps but doesn't solve it.

On support. My first replacement request was rejected outright, with no reason given. It was approved only after I escalated by email. The replacement itself arrived promptly once approved, but the process shouldn't require pushing.

Verdict. The technology is genuinely interesting and I learned real things from the days it worked. But paying roughly €98 per sensor for something that failed twice inside a month — once with a dangerously wrong reading — is poor value and, more importantly, a reliability problem in a device people make medical decisions with.

Customer service 5☆

They had a free trial on the 2 plus,so I thought I'd try it out. Readings are accurate as the finger pricks.
When it ran out I ordered one off a certified pharmacy and it wasn't scanning for set up well. Customer service were great and sent out a new one within 2 days. The guy was really helpful and no money lost thankfully.

The people on the phone are fine. Whoever decided policy that a conference call originating from the customer's insurance company with the customer also on the line to make sure an every year Cologuard is approved instead of every 3 needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. YOU call my insurance company directly and stop wasting my time please! Wish Abbott hadn't been allowed to buy Exact Sciences.

Libre 3 Plus…

I have been using Libre 3 Plus for about a year. About half the time, the sensor does not make it through the full 15 days without malfunctioning. They are extremely unreliable. When they are working, there is often a 40 to 50 point difference between the sensor reading and a manual reading. I have received several replacement sensors when requested. But now they are saying that I cannot receive any more replacements because I have reached a limit. So they are expecting me to pay for the sensors, knowing that about half the time it will be defective and I cannot get a replacement. I don't think so. I'm done with this company that refuses to replace the defective product they're producing.

Not Good

Unfortunately I wish I had read these reviews before I purchased. The sensor fell off within hours of use even though I attached it as per instructions. The sensor glue is clearly not fit for purpose.

Quick/Responsive customer service

I can't comment on the accuracy of the sensor as unfortunately the sensor failed after 1 day of use, but the customer service was excellent.

Unlike some of the other reviews I have seen here they were responsive and a replacement sensor has been approved within 5 minutes.

Obviously it has not arrived yet, so there is still scope for things to go wrong, but so far and based on recent experience with other companies the speed of resolution was appreciated.

All issues seem to have been resolved. …

I've had all the problems cited by others and myself on here BUT..... Last 8 sensors all Libre 2 issues have been resolved - in my experience. Sensors remained firmly stuck to my skin, needing some effort to remove so they've cured the falling off problem. Readings have been checked every 2 days against finger prick meters (2 of good quality). Close correlation observed. Allowing for the time lag, completely accurate over the previous four months. I continue to use the Libre 2 because they're so convenient and frequent readings help tight blood sugar control. The App is outstanding in terms of range of reports available. This sensor system is now so superior that I'd hate to go back to 'Stone Age' finger pricking all the time but that's useful for checking sensor accuracy. Using both systems is prudent.
