Scam
I’ve booked, and paid for, a Dodge Ram to be picked up at the airport. When I got to the counter the lady said that my credit card did not allow to rent such a big car. She also wanted to know why I wanted such a big car. Furthermore she added extra insurance, not asking, just telling me that the cost was 9 dollars per day (it was 10 dollars per day plus tax) and that I had ti leave a 500 dollar deposit (it’s supposed to be 200 dollars) and finished by telling me that they only had cars that cost 25 dollars more per day available (I was renting the car for 9 days). At that time I had been traveling, and awake, for 26 hours so I was blindsided by this information and I felt trapped. She said she couldn’t see how much I had paid already but she knew that it would cost 25 dollars more per day. The result: 900 dollars left my bank account and I left in a Nissan… out of these 900 dollars was around 700 dollars that I was supposed to spend on food and gas (it was supposed to be 200 dollars in deposit). Just stay away from Dollar!
Price kept changing
Price kept changing. Initial quote was $473.97, then at pick up I was quoted $482.50, at return I had to pay $508.82.
I chose them because of the low quote. Will not use them again.
Not honouring bookings
I turned up with a valid booking made by Booking.com to be told that they would not honour the booking as " the price was too good ". I have never experienced that before even after booking 100's cars . The rep , Jose , who is horrendous and should not be in a client facing role then made me pay 5x what I originally had paid . I think the office ( Hertz/dollar ) at Kings cross is a rogue office and you need to avoid it
I would give a 0 stars
I would give a 0 stars. Was told I would get my refund back when I dropped off the car and never got it back. Poor poor poor service. Was told $300 security deposit and when I picked up car they needed $500
I would NOT book from them.
DO NOT RENT HERE EVER!!!!
Renting a car through this company was the worst mistake I ever made. Trying to save money on the rental ended up costing me more than my trip. DO NOT RENT THROUGH THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE BROKE AND LIVING IN REGRET. ENTERPRISE is a million times better than this trashy, lying, stealing company. I have never been so angry with a business and so powerless in my life. TRASH, TRASH, TRASH.
Don't trust your money to them
Don't trust your money to them, they will charge you 10x times for a small scratch!
Reserved online
Reserved online, checked in online then waited in line when I got there a total of 60 minutes. The staff customers service skills are atrocious!! I only rented for one day return 3 hours early to wait another hour to return the car. While the staff keep saying to others waiting even though you reserved over a month ago doesn’t mean we have cars available. Horrible experience.

Unhelpful and just want to rip you off
Extremely disappointing experience with…
Extremely disappointing experience with Dollar Rent A Car.
During our rental in Oman, a tire suddenly burst at highway speed while my family and two small children were in the vehicle. It was an extremely dangerous and frightening situation.
Despite roadside assistance being contractually included, no on-site help was provided. I was left on the side of the highway in extreme heat having to organize the tire change myself with the help of a local passerby.
What is even more disappointing is how the situation was handled afterwards. After weeks of emails, repeated follow-ups, and escalation to the company’s Country Manager, the only “resolution” offered was reimbursement of 10 OMR — even described as a “gesture of goodwill” — despite the fact that this amount did not even fully cover the direct costs we incurred as a result of the incident.
At no point did I feel that the seriousness of the situation or the potential risk to my family was genuinely acknowledged. The overall handling of this case fell far below what one would expect from an international car rental company.
I cannot recommend this company based on this experience.
Extremely high pressure sales at pick…
Extremely high pressure sales at pick up to add the extra insurances .....then after return was complete....I get a message there was damage to car ....3 small rock chips which I never noticed during the rental .....they are just trying to stick renters with extra fees. Avoid dollar rental car
I rented a car for seven days at…
I rented a car for seven days at Edinburgh airport through Dollar, which is just a few minutes walk from the main terminal. Kevin Wong handled my reservation in a few minutes and gave me a new Toyota AV automatic which is part petrol part electric and it gave me no problems and was very easy to use. On returning the car I was met by a man from the Ukraine who was very polite and I was on my way to the airport in a couple on minutes.
Keep away!!
Limerick, Ireland. Partnered with Herzt. Booked a Nissan Quasqui SUV and after waiting 40mins was told they were very busy and all they had was a 7 seater van!! No apology in fact told me it was new and a 7 seater! Hired for a week and I’m embarrassed to
be seen in it. Secondly id purchased excess insurance elsewhere but they made it impossible not to buy their insurance IN ADDITION to this. I would have walked out and gone elsewhere but need to travel right then so had to agree. I have contacted complaints dept I will update if & when I hear from them.
Over charged
After very long flights from South Africa to Orlando International Airport, we stood very long before being attended to by a very rude, unhelpful staff member. The que was long and although many desks available, only two staff members received clients. We were not properly informed about toll fees and charges. When we finally received the car, it was out of order and had to be replaced, which took even longer. The return process was okey. We were overcharged by 150USD. I am unable to retrieve an invoice online using license details, credit-card details and booking number, which are the options given on the Dollar web site. Not user-friendly or contactable at all.
Dollar in terminal A at Orlando added…
Dollar in terminal A at Orlando added additional charges that were not requested and did not explain they were being put on the rental
Presented the screen to sign very underhanded way to get extra cash out of you check really carefully before signing
Dodgy unhanded outfit
The experience at Dollar at Baton Rouge…
The experience at Dollar at Baton Rouge airport was absolutely the worst. We rented a car that immediately broke down, and when we contacted customer service, they directed us to the airport for a replacement. Dennis D. at the front desk was the most rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional individual I have encountered. Dollar, Hertz, and National Rent-A-Car should reconsider employing someone like Dennis, as he damages their reputation significantly. I will never rent from them again.
Beware of predatory tactics
Beware of predatory tactics! Reserved via Orbitz, but Dollar Rent A Car in Atlanta International Airport forced an insurance upsell by claiming my Allstate policy wasn't valid there. It was a clear attempt to squeeze more money out of a customer under false pretenses. Very disappointed in these shady business practices. Is Dollar Rent A Car really unable to make a profit through clean business practices?
Stranded at 1:30 AM
Stranded at 1:30 AM – Dollar & Priceline Failed Me
I had the absolute worst rental experience of my life with Dollar at Boston Logan (BOS). I booked a mid-size SUV through Priceline for a 1:30 AM pickup. When I arrived at the counter, exhausted from travel, Dollar was completely closed, while competitors like Avis and Budget remained open.
Priceline and Dollar allowed a reservation to be made and paid for during hours the facility wasn't even open. I was forced to pay for an expensive Uber to my destination and another Uber back the next morning at 10:00 AM just to get the car I had already paid for. To make matters worse, despite the 'non-refundable' nature of the booking, there was no support available for this error.
When I finally returned the next morning, I was met with a 40-minute queue just to speak to an agent. This level of incompetence, scheduling pickups during closed hours and then providing zero support, is unacceptable. If you value your time and don't want to be stranded at an airport in the middle of the night, avoid Dollar and be very wary of booking them through Priceline.
Looooong wait time. Don’t use them
Such a long wait time upon check in . Only 3 staff working at a snails pace . If I’d have known would never have booked with them!
