I am extremely dissatisfied with AA…

I am extremely dissatisfied with AA Warranty, my car broke down 2 days ago and it’s at a workshop to be repaired. A claim was submitted 2 days ago there has been no feedback or whatsoever.

It’s very hard to even reach them on the phone, i use my car daily for work and now i have to request an Uber which is costing me.

Awful experience

I am extremely disappointed with the service provided under this warranty and would not recommend it based on our experience.

After our vehicle broke down on 16 August, we were initially directed to a garage by the warranty provider. When we arrived, we discovered that the garage had not even been informed that we were coming. To be fair to them, they were kind enough to take a look at the vehicle anyway, but they were unable to carry out the repair due to being understaffed. This raises serious questions about the warranty company's processes and the suitability of the repair network they are directing customers to.

From there, things only got worse. We spent hours on the phone speaking to multiple different people, being passed from one department to another, with nobody taking ownership of the issue or providing any meaningful assistance.

The nearest appointment the warranty company could then offer was 3 September, despite the vehicle breaking down on 16 August. To make matters worse, the garage was approximately 45 minutes away, and we were advised not to drive the vehicle as doing so could potentially turn what was thought to be around a £1,000 repair into a bill of up to £9,000 if further damage occurred.

As a result, we had no choice but to find our own garage. Even then, communication from the warranty company was painfully slow, with responses taking several days at a time. By this point, we had already been without a car for two weeks.

What makes this even more frustrating is that this all came immediately after an awful breakdown experience with the AA, where we were left stranded for over four hours on a Sunday night, more than 2.5 hours from home, with virtually no communication, no nearby facilities, and very little support. After going through all of that stress, the way this warranty claim has been handled has felt like a real kick in the teeth.

Despite paying almost £1,000 per year for the warranty, they have offered just £427 towards a wet belt replacement. Their reasoning is that our chosen garage's labour estimate is too high and that the parts are too expensive. However, wet belt replacements are well known for being costly repairs, and quotes commonly range from £600 to £1,000+. Expecting this work to be completed for £427 is simply unrealistic.

The whole point of taking out a PCP agreement and warranty cover is peace of mind. You pay a substantial amount every year with the expectation that, if something goes wrong, you will be properly supported. Instead, we have endured weeks of delays, poor communication, a garage that wasn't even expecting us, having to find our own repairer, and then being offered a contribution that falls well short of the actual repair costs.

At this stage, it feels like we have done all the legwork ourselves while still being expected to pay the majority of the bill. If the warranty provider cannot provide access to garages that are able to carry out repairs within a reasonable timeframe, and cannot adequately cover the repairs they authorise, then they should seriously reconsider offering this level of warranty cover in the first place.

We are genuinely extremely unhappy with how this claim has been handled. The service has been stressful, disappointing and, ultimately, has provided very little reassurance when we needed it most.

⭐ 1 Star

⭐ 1 Star – Think very carefully before buying

My experience with the AA Extended Warranty has been extremely disappointing. In my opinion, it has turned out to be little more than an expensive piece of paper when it actually came time to make a claim.

The warranty is sold as protection against mechanical and electrical breakdown, but when I needed to use it, the focus quickly shifted to finding a reason why the repair should not be covered.

The most frustrating part is the contradiction in their decision. They have accepted one side of the repair as a sudden and unexpected failure, while claiming that the corresponding component on the other side is gradual deterioration. Apparently, the fact that both sides require repair is being used as evidence that the failure was gradual.

If a warranty provider can accept a component failure as sudden on one side but then use the same circumstances to reject the other side, it seriously makes you question what exactly you are paying for.

I have repeatedly asked for a clear explanation of the technical evidence supporting their decision. Instead, I have been given policy definitions and general statements about driving style, vehicle load and driving conditions.

Frankly, this has left me feeling that the warranty is designed to look reassuring when you buy it, but provide plenty of reasons not to pay when you actually need it.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend the AA Extended Warranty. If you're considering buying one, read the exclusions extremely carefully and don't assume that paying for warranty cover means your mechanical failure will necessarily be covered.

1 star. Extremely disappointing and, in my experience, a complete waste of money.

Worst start to the policy ever

Worst start to the policy ever! Purchased a new car with a 3 year policy. Unfortunately needed help the day after.
Number to claim closes at 13:00 on a Saturday. The activation link did not come through so had to call the number provided. Well over an hour spent trying to get through to an advisor, only to be told my roadside assistance could not be activated. Would need to call back on Monday to see if the membership team could help.
Only alternative was to pay again!!
Policy definitely feels like a waste of time at the moment!!😡

False advertising :-(

I brought a BMW Z4 3.5i on a 59 plate I had been wanting another for a long time I traded my much loved Jag xf in so at Lakeview Dealership in Bedford it’s add on Auto Traders was very good stating it had Full 128 AA Warranty Check - this was what sold it to me so I brought it from this dealer.
When I got home I couldn’t even remove the wheel bolts let alone get the wheels off to put a set of 19 inch Alpina wheels on then I popped off the lid on the air filter and to my amazement found a filter that was full of black crap and all manner of grime in it alarm bells went off by then about it’s service that I was told it had been done. I had my local mechanic check the car over and found nothing had been done at all .So on dropping the old oil and filter found it was like thick black treacle and that was putting it mildly the filter was clogged with thick black carbon residue all 6 spark plugs were all carbonated in black soot the mechanic stated the service lights and service was reset easy enough to do with a cheap obd reader and reset tool off eBay.
So the AA warranty inspection could never been done at least wise all these issues would have been fixed before purchasing this car: never again will I believe in the AA warranty check. I have breakdown cover with the AA & thought it very good but the warranty check isn’t being done at least not in my experience and thus far has cost me dearly sadly buying a car should be a breeze not a storm.

Terrible experience with AA warranty - UK Performance Cars

Terrible experience with AA warranty. Part of the reason I took the risk to purchase the car was because the dealer had the AA warranty and supposedly adhered to the AA standards.
From start to end I had a terrible time. Multiple issues with the car, most of which weren't covered by the AA warranty. Then I had an issue with the car which meant the air con/blowers wouldn't turn off, so would run until the car battery died. Obviously not my fault, the AA agreed to fix the problem, but then refused to replce the dead vehicle battery! I had only had the car 4 weeks and had barely driven it because of multiple issues. Then the AA left me with a car with the problem fixed, but the knock on effect of what that issue had done to the battery. It was so dead I couldn't even drive to the shop and turn it off, it wouldn't start again. Even if I drove for an hour the battery wouldn't charge enough to start again once turned off.
I understandably expected a new battery, none of this was my fault, and if the issue wasn't there the battery would have been fine. But the AA refused to replace the battery. Disgraceful.
To make it worse I had serious problems with the dealer, who lied and cheated his way through the multiple problems. Told me the car was freshly imported but then I found a load of english people's contacts stored in the system, and Northern radio stations saved to the radio. Everything was a lie
I complained to the AA about everything happening to me, and went through each of the AA standards that he was supposed to adhere to - which if he didn't it meant he was not allowed to be part of the warranty scheme. He had failed on every nearly every AA standard, and I had full evidence. But the AA weren't interested. They were no help at all, totally on the side of the rogue dealer. I made a formal complaint showing how he had not adhered to a single one of the AA standards, they didn't even have the common decency to respond to my complaint
I've been left seriously out of pocket, with an unsafe car. I can't trust, I;'m just waiting for the next problem.
I have learned that a dealer being part of the AA standards scheme means nothing.
Please, if you are buying a used car, be sure that the dealer is registered as part of the Retail Motor Industry Federation - not just the AA or some other poor quality warranty scheme
The RMIF get involved and prevent /solve problems like I had, and ensure a fair outcome. I will never trust a used car dealer again. The dealer I had the issue with is UK Performance cars, in Sittingbourne

Absolute joke of a company

Absolute joke of a company. Do not purchase this warranty cover. My car has now been gone since 16th April (its June now ) to their approved service centre and then moved to another garage. The repairs still haven't been authorised and despite the fact I have the gold cover I still have to pay half of a 10 grand repair job. They constantly seem to want to delay the claim by asking for more and more information despite 2 garages (including their service centre ) telling them the faults. No hire car provided and no escalation to anyone who can do anything. If this review helps even one person avoid this sham of a company its been worth my time writing it.

AA Warranty were excellent from the start

We had a poor experience of car warranty provider (Motoreasy). We gave them a review on Trustpilot.

We tried AA Warranty not expecting to have to claim again. But we did.

Right from the start of the claim their communications was excellent.

Yes they wanted every piece of information.

But once they got it, they quickly made a decision.

Work was carried out and they sent the funds within a week.

A breath of fresh air compared to the utterly terrible “MotorEasy”.

Thank you AA Warranty.
