DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE. They claimed the 9 seater we had rented via'Do you Italy" was unavailable because we only had a voucher, they then said it was broken. Our rental agreement was for a charge of just over 600 euros. We had taken out insurance with Do you Italy. Maggiore claimed they would give us two cars instead of a 9 seater, we had no choice but to take this. We had an elderly person with wheelchair and walker plus 6 other people and all suitcases etc to take. It meant we had double fuel costs. They told us the second car was free then when we got back charged us for the insurance despite already having insurance. Instead of paying just over 600 euros we were charged over 1300. In my opinion "do you italy" and Maggiore provide a terrible service, costs lack transparency and this feels on purpose. Avoid at all costs.

Absolute scammers do not use

Absolute scammers do not use, rented through auto Europe , paid in advance, they told me that they needed a holding deposit which I was fine with, returned home to find I have been charged the full deposit holding fee when the car was returned in the same condition as when I collected. Advise for others please do not use, I travel to Sicily, trapani airport and use hire cars every year but will never go with this company again they are a disgrace. I have had to raise it through my credit card company to try and recover the money as no one from maggiore is interested.

We rented the car

We rented the car, pre paid, by arrival no car in our category available, we had to pay extra to have at least some car, after return, one month later stolen from my bank account exact the same amount for rentals. After 1 month of lies and escalation still no refund, already contacted police to go visit the rental office with me.

MAGGIORE is a scam company!

I booked a car with MAGGIORE in January this year to be collected at Venice airport on June 6 but in May I had to change the pick-up location to Milan because Qatar Airways stopped flying to Venice. I managed to speak to MAGGIORE staff and was told that MAGGIORE was unable to change the location so MAGGIORE suggested me to cancel the booking which I did. MAGGIORE did sent me the email cancellation confirmation on May 31 but MAGGIORE never refunded the rental fee of about Euro596.92. I sent many emails for weeks which were only replied by auto-messages. Finally I received an email confirmation on July 31 that they will repay within 15 days however to date still no refund. MAGGIORE is owned by AVIS so I tried contacting AVIS in the hope they can assist and push for payment but no success to date. Do NOT use MAGGIORE is clearly a scam company!

DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY!!!! They do not return deposit!

DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY!!!!
They are scammers!
They charged me a deposit of 200 eur on Alghero airport on car pick up. They explained it's security deposit and will be return 5-7 days after car drop of. It's been more than month and they still didn't return the deposit. I tried many times to contact them via email and the contact form the agency web site but they do not reply. Also I've contacted AVIS, no reply. I've tried to call them but no one answered, you are put on wait and after few minutes they close the line.
AVIS, how can you allow to work with the scammers like this?

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Hidden fees and insurance scams! Avoid at all costs!

An absolute disaster and pure scam! When picking up the car, they rush you to sign documents while claiming it's just a standard security deposit, but instead, they trick you into buying expensive additional insurance that cannot be canceled later.
Naturally, nobody reads every single line of the fine print under pressure at the counter, and they ruthlessly exploit this to rip people off. On top of that, they charge absurd fees for the smallest time differences – if you are 30 minutes early or 30 minutes late, they charge you for a full extra day with crazy rates.
This is outright fraud and manipulation. I will never use this car rental company again, and I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of them. Watch out and read every single piece of paper before signing anything!

Dangerous tyre fitted on car

The first car supplied had a dangerous tyre bulge which could have lead to a blow out. Refused the car and given different car that had not been prepared properly but was okay. On returning to the UK I received a €30 charge on my credit card with no explanation and not showing on my invoice. The company will not respond.

All smiles at the desk.

All smiles at the desk.
1. Not the car we booked, in fact they don't rent that model....why is it on the website then?
We got a SHED on wheels, far too wide for Tuscan roads.

2. No SATNAV......its been disabled.
Work around....use the phone.

In an ideal world the person behind the desk ought to offer 'advise'...."ah you're going to Southern Tuscany, I advise a smaller vehicle, etc, etc".
No pride in their role...a good example of AI robot replacement.
3. You get a registration number and the car lot reference. How about a person on the parking lot directing you to your car, show you the basics.
Is it too much to ask?

4. Courtesy should be standard, not sarcasm and rudeness.

MAGGIORE and AVIS are the same company.

Dreadful experience.
1 star....its got 4 wheels!!!

disappointment!

I booked a car in advance and even paid online after a previous successful attempt. I arrived to pick up the car and the lady at the front desk told me that they don't accept my card, they weren't willing to accept any of my cards, including an immediate bank transfer from my business which is in Italy. I should point out that the same lady had rented me a car a few months earlier and had accepted the same credit card that she now refused to accept. While I was desperate, the lady said that I should go look for a car with another company, and promised that through the website I could get a refund for the 550 euros I had already paid. I picked up a car from another company. The next day I contacted the company for a refund and was told that they were not willing to give me a refund, not even after a penalty because I hadn't canceled the order 24 hours in advance. I have never encountered such appalling service in my life. And charging a customer the full price without a refund is exploitation, it is extremely disappointing. Don't go near this company! If I could give 0 stars, that's what they would get from me. I feel taken advantage of, and I was after a long flight experiencing this feeling, It was helplessness and despair.

Had no official letterbox to return the key. I put it though they letterbox on their shutter and they lost the key on their premises. Are looking for me to pay the key. Returned the key early Sunday morning and only today on Tuesday when I made the claim they say they lost the key.

Low tyre pressure, alleged damage

Initially when we picked up the car, we refused to buy additional insurance. The man serving us was rude about this. When we got to the car, the tyre pressure light was on so despite it being late at night, we had to spend time blowing up the tyres before we could drive anywhere. When dropping the car off, they alleged additional scrapes had been added while we had the car. Thankfully, we had a video showing the damage to the car when we picked it up, so they could not follow through with this claim. I would urge anyone who uses this company to document all scratches/damage to the vehicle when you pick it up, to minimise the risk of additional claims.

Illegal and discriminatory actions by agent

I rented a car in Torino Italy and was refused the car due to providing documentation such as ID and Driving license from one EU country and Bank card from another EU country where I also live.
They don’t have anything like that specified in their Terms and Conditions that different documents issued in other countries are not accepted. I will seek legal action.

Maggiore Bergamo Beware

Vehicle hired via EasyCar from Bergamo Italy and after attempting to sell more insurance to us we got a very good vehicle.
We dropped the car off out of hours and a few weeks later received a recorded letter alleging damage to the vehicle. A scrape definitely not done during my hire period. Emails were repeatedly ignored and the phone number provided was a dead phone line.
Nearly £1000 was taken from my credit card. Numerous requests for a repair invoice from me and the insurer over 3 months were ignored. This invoice is required for the insurer to pay out.
This company are scammers, I’m convinced the damage images were faked or AI, and that is why there is no invoice.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES NEVER!!!!!!!

DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES NEVER!!!!!!!
I am very dissatisfied with my experience.

The service did not fully match what was initially presented and agreed upon. After the service was completed, an additional charge was applied for alleged vehicle damage without any evidence, photos, or official inspection report being provided.

Despite multiple attempts to contact the company via email and phone, I did not receive any clear response or explanation.

I find the lack of transparency and communication very concerning. I believe such situations should always be supported by clear documentation and proper customer communication.

Unauthorised £188.84 deposit

Unauthorised £188.84 deposit — still not refunded after a month
★☆☆☆☆
I rented a compact car from Maggiore at Turin Airport Caselle in March 2026, booked and fully prepaid through Holiday Autos. On collection, Maggiore charged an additional £188.84 to my debit card as a “deposit” — no clear warning this would happen, and no option to decline.
I returned the car a day early in perfect condition. No acknowledgement of the return. No receipt. Nothing. I had to chase them myself.
What followed was weeks of evasive emails. First they told me it was just a temporary hold and would be released “within a few days.” Then they said it could take up to 28 days. Then they confirmed the rental was closed and the deposit “successfully processed.” It is now well past 28 days. The money is still gone from my account.
At no point has anyone at Maggiore taken ownership of this. Every response reads like a cut-and-paste script designed to run down the clock. They tell you to contact your bank — conveniently shifting the burden to you for a problem they created.
Avoid. Especially avoid paying by debit card, unless you’re comfortable lending them nearly £200 of your money indefinitely with no accountability.

Lost expensive glasses in rental car.

I contacted this office multiple times by email and also contacted head office – no response at all.

I am hearing impaired and cannot call, so email is my only way to communicate.

This is extremely poor and unacceptable customer service.

If I do not receive a response, I will escalate this further.

Please contact me immediately

WARNING- Double charging for Full Tank of Fuel

WARNING- On booking your car you will have been charged a fee of E58 to cover the cost of returning the car with a full tank of fuel.
HOWEVER, when you collect your car you are told that you MUST return the car with a full tank, and also upon return. THAT is double accounting. You have bought the fuel in the agreement, and now they are ALSO asking you to top up.

ENSURE you double check the invoice/contract they give you when you collect the car and raise it then.

I have been raising with Maggori over the past 3 months, and they have confirmed but have gone quiet now that I ask for a refund and that they correct this in their systems. I have now raised with the tradings standards in Italy and the UK-ECC
