Company backtracked on its own exchange policy + a written promise to me
I had a very frustrating international order and exchange experience with Skolyx, and I believe its handling of the situation was unfair and misleading. I would strongly caution potential customers.
Before ordering the Yanko Opera Pumps, I asked about buying multiple sizes and returning the ones that did not fit. The CEO and founder himself advised me not to do so because return shipping would be expensive, and instead offered to help with sizing. I provided measurements and photos of my foot next to a ruler, and Skolyx measured my foot at 293 mm before advising that US 12.5 was its best recommendation for a snug fit, with US 13 for a little more space. It is also worth noting that I own three different pairs of boots from Thursday Boot Company, all in size 12.5, and Skolyx’s website specifically states that its shoes are sized similarly to Thursday Boot Company.
I ordered US 12.5 based on that guidance, but the shoes were too small. I exchanged them for US 13, paying the requested exchange and return costs. Skolyx charged me $55, which it confirmed consisted of $35 for U.S. return shipping plus $20 toward the additional cost of shipping the replacement pair to Japan instead of the original U.S. address.
This brings me to the first issue: I should not have been charged the additional $20. Skolyx’s own website states, “The cost for the new shipment out to you is paid by us.” Skolyx nevertheless required me to pay part of the outbound exchange shipment cost, leaving me with no practical choice but to accept it if I wanted the exchange to move forward. In other words, Skolyx went back on the written exchange policy published on its own website.
The US 13 pair also arrived too small. I asked for one final exchange. Skolyx first confirmed in writing that I would cover the return shipping and that Skolyx would cover the outbound shipment for the next exchange, stating that this followed its normal shipping policy. I accepted those terms and asked for the next steps. Skolyx then abruptly reversed its written position, saying that the 14-day return period had expired, even though this had been an ongoing exchange case for nearly a month and no one had previously indicated that the 14-day period was an issue.
This led me to believe that Skolyx realized it would lose money on the transaction and then backtracked on its written exchange terms on a technicality. That is unacceptable and customer-unfriendly.
After further back-and-forth, Skolyx’s final position was that I could either return the shoes for a refund, with return shipping deducted, or complete one final exchange, with no further return, refund, or exchange possible if the next size still did not fit.
My complaint is not simply that the shoes did not fit. I understand that sizing cannot be guaranteed. The issue is that I relied on Skolyx’s sizing assistance after being advised not to order multiple sizes, paid substantial shipping, customs, and exchange-related costs, was charged an additional $20 that I should not have had to pay (and goes against Skolyx's stated exchange policy), and then saw Skolyx change its written exchange terms after the case had already been actively handled for weeks. I dealt directly with the CEO, and I found his tone rude, hostile, and unreasonable.
All in all, I lost $129 and ended up with no shoes from Skolyx.
Overall, I found the process inconsistent, expensive, and not customer-friendly.

Soles turn milky white after 8 mounths.
I purchased a pair of premium dark brown suede sneakers. The shoe appears to be well constructed and of generally good quality. Unfortunately, the sole has started to lose its color and turn milky white after only 8 months of use. Please see the photos.
Skolyx (Anton) responded to my warranty claim by stating that it is to be expected that the sole will lose its color and turn white over time. They rejected my claim and instead attempted to sell me a rubber care product.
I bought these as a premium sneaker for more formal use, but they now look worn and have lost their premium appearance.
This is the first review I have ever written, and I generally believe that people are often too quick to criticize businesses. I am also aware of how damaging negative reviews can be for companies, which is why I would have preferred to avoid writing this review.
The sole purpose of this review is to make future customers aware that it is Skolyx's official position that the rubber soles on these sneakers are expected to lose their color and turn white over time.
EDIT.
They first offered to sell med the rubber product. When i withheld my claim, they then offered it for free.
But that is not the point. I dont want to maintain my soles all the time to avoid them going milky.
If you are fine with that - go for it. Otherwise stay away and get your maintenence free skeakers somewhere else.

The unworn belt that i ordered keeps staining on light fabric.
I always pull a new dark belt through a white dry washcloth to see if it would stain my light trousers.
The Skolyx belt kept staining.
Sadly the return cost are 19 euro's for an items that is not up to par.
I should have read the terms and conditions, because i would not have ordered under these conditions.

Over priced and sole coming away after only 3 months.
Purchased a set of the premium sneaker boots at over £180 and after only 3 months of wearing them the heel is coming away from the boot. I had a back and forth email chat and after sending them photos of the damage they tipped the blame onto how I take the shoes off apparently. I’ve had trainers at a quarter of the cost that have last much longer than these. I won’t ever purchase from this company again, over priced and poor quality!!!

I have bought 2 pairs of loafers from Skolyx. The shoes are of great quality and look great, however, the sizes are drastically different. I bought the same size loafers and it look more than a size different from each other despite being the same size.
I exchanged a pair, and the cost of return shipping + double the import tax is roughly the cost of the shoes. Simply a hefty fine, and I have no trust in their sizing, which is very disappointing. Such a shame because I would have loved to have bought more shoe from them in the future...

Shady business practices
Shady business practices. They do not include total cost upon checkout so expect to have FedEx or another carrier start hounding you for import charges. You can find same quality at a lesser cost.
After response from Skolyx below my review is still the same. It is not listed anywhere upon checkout about extra charges. If they included this information upfront I would understand, and potentially not purchase based off added costs. Be upfront and do not hide these policies on other Q&A pages. Simple as that.
There are plenty of great companies out there that include the final price upon checkout. Regardless of who is charging them. Clearly Skolyx is not one of them.

Support is useless
Support is useless. Wanting to order a size as their size guide is really whacky. It scales in a strange way, sometimes within a style, depending on your size, it will either be true to size, half a size small, half a size big or a full size too large.
I contacted support to verify. I provided a reference for my current Suitsupply dress shoes as well as what I wear in Nike.
I’m a size 12 in every shoe I own. Support told me that Nike’s size varies too wildly (I doesn’t, I’ve had 40 pairs of various models and always been a 12) and that they weren’t familiar with suit supple sizing and instead provided me with some obscure, hand made Italians brands that if they knew my size in them they could help me.
To not be able to give support in sizing for expensive dress shoes is insane. Especially when they want you to pay a return shipping fee if they don’t fit.
Get better at customer care.

Awesome
Awesome is the word here! Fantastic service and support. Super friendly without any hassle! And all this although I did not end up buying anything because the last of the loafers weren‘t meant to be my fit. Super well made shoes as far as I can say in my experience.

If you live in Switzerland, READ THIS
I live in Switzerland. Skolyx courier of choice, and you can't change it, is FedEx. You'll obviously have to pay the VAT 8.1% of Switzerland. But the problem comes when FedEx pays it for you and charges you a disbursement fee.
For you to have any idea:
- Switzerland VAT 8.1% = CHF 1.80
- Original VAT = CHF 15,70
- Disbursement Fee (From FedEx) = CHF 22,00
It's unbelievable the amount you have to pay to FedEx. Last time I'm ordering anything from Skolyx. And obviously Skolyx doesn't give a __ to these type of charges. They just remove the VAT in their home country and ship it. The rest you have to deal with.
——- Additional Comments 01
One solution would be to at least let the customer choose between FedEx or DHL. DHL is normally cheaper and normally doesn’t have these shenanigans of FedEx.
——- Additional Comments Latest
You mentioned that DHL is twice as expensive as FedEx. Here is the analysis:
• Shipping cost to Switzerland on your website (FedEx): 17 EUR
• Shipping cost with DHL (based on your comment): 34 EUR (100% more according to you)
• Disbursement fee charged by FedEx (****which I was never informed about and never requested****): 22 EUR
• Total cost with FedEx: 39 EUR
Based on this, DHL is actually cheaper than FedEx. Also, I strongly dislike receiving unexpected bills at home.
Please make sure to inform yourselves and your customers more clearly about these hidden fees — especially the additional charges imposed by FedEx.
FedEx is a scam!

The boots are magnificent leather and sole quality are amazing. I feel a confidence in every my step. I definitely recommend the store and products they sell. Good service with good product quality for good money.

Firstly you pay for a made to order product. Your money is taken quickly. Then you decide what exactly and if you want to buy the product, as you can't choose anything until after you pay. What kind of business is that? Is that a way to run a business?

The shoes are excellent!
The shoes are excellent!
I ordered the chelsea boots in dark brown. The welt stitching and last stitching are very good. I saw no loose threads. The boots fit well once you get your size dialed in. The leather is very supple and almost no imperfections were apparent to my eyes.
The city rubber soles were the big attraction here. It's very difficult to find a made in western Europe or USA good year welted shoe with rubber soles that aren't lugs or otherwise very heavy and bulky. The leather quality and general attention to detail is far in excess of US brand Allen Edmonds, my general benchmark for entry level goodyear welted dress shoes.
I noticed a few small dye imperfections around the lip of the shoe. We're talking nearly microscopic. A few stiches were thrown in the toe welt of one boot that are slightly out of center. Some heel wheeling or fudge wheeling would help bring a little flair to the boots, but they are otherwise straightforward and beautiful.
Customer service at Skolyx was top notch in that they got back to me quickly and they were very fluent in English. My only knock against the experience was a return for a different size: Skolyx offers shipping labels, but they weren't very clear on exactly where to find them on their website which ended up costing me around $100 US in shipping and another $30 US in customs handling charges to get an exchange. I am told they are working on a new website and a better return process which is great to hear! Customer service was very helpful throughout the process, but a little extra attention on the return would have saved me money and their team some aggravation, I'm sure.
As far as I'm concerned, if you live in a wet climate and want your footwear to be as water resistant while remaining beautiful as possible, there isn't a replacement for Skolyx. Now that I have the hang of the sizing and the return process, I'll be a return customer again and again.

Horrible customer service and no shame in sending out defective sneakers. I bought a pair of sneakers with multiple defects. The response I received was a discount or I could pay $37 to return them. For an item that was received defective, I have to pay $37 to return?
This is a disgraceful business practice.
