While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

Attempted to open an account and was invited to chat with someone that looked like 12 years old asking me all these indept company questions in a very informal way. Questions that did not make any sense, or at least it was not explained why this information was necessary. And I was then denied an account without an explanation as to why or a chance for myself to explain whatever they found was wrong.
Just wish you could upload your own pdf invoices, otherwise not bad
Mettle (NatWest) claims 4 identity verification methods, but only offers one—selfie camera—which I said was broken. Support was useless: trained to repeat 5 scripted lines, unable to offer alternatives. I was told my issue would be escalated and I'd be contacted in 'a couple of days with alternative method.'
After 10 days of silence, I followed up via email: no response, no apology, no accountability again the exact same scripted line ‘I will raise this further with our onboarding team to see if there is an alternative method you could use.’ You guessed it 10 days passed again and no onboarding team in sight . Despite advertising multiple verification options, they refuse to implement any. Basic account, even worse support.
The worst application process - 1 month+ and still getting asked a MILLION questions about stupid trivial things, constant back and forth and still not getting access. What is this sham of a bank?
I’ve been a Mettle customer for 2 years. Excellent account and so easy to use.
I had some fraudulent transactions this morning - naturally a very worrying thing to happen - Mettle live chat resolved it super quickly and made sure I know what was happening and how my account was protected.
I am extremely disappointed with Mettle's handling of my dispute.
I raised a dispute over an unauthorised payment, and while the investigation has been ongoing, the merchant has continued taking money from my account through Direct Debit. I was told the merchant has until 22 August to respond, but that should not mean they are allowed to keep collecting payments in the meantime.
I contacted Mettle to explain that another payment had already been taken after I reported the issue, yet all I received were generic responses saying they were waiting for the merchant or that someone was "looking into it." There has been no clear explanation as to why these payments were allowed to continue or what action was being taken to stop them.
As a customer, I expected my bank to protect my account and provide timely, proactive support. Instead, I have had to chase updates while money continues leaving my account.
The communication has been slow, the support has lacked urgency, and the overall experience has left me with very little confidence in Mettle's ability to handle disputes effectively. I would not recommend Mettle based on my experience.
Unfortunately incredibly slow to open the bank account, despite rapidly providing info requested. We are well over 2 weeks now despite the suggested "3 day" opening period and despite me chasing, no sign of it opening any time soon, nor has any indication of progress been provided.
It was smooth experience and staff is very friendly and supportive. Would recommend others.

Could do with a option to place paid across an invoice - rather than have to screenshot it to create a receipted invoice for clients tax purposes

I was she was in Metel Bank for quite a few years which was quite great for that but recently over three weeks I have had six blocks on my account and they cannot tell me why apart from it’s the system flag in something so each of those times to happen within 24 hours every time I put money into the account it book it 24 hours later the money clears. I try and move it out of the account to buy something pay for something, whatever it blocks it six times.

Mettle is very simple and spam free. The app is very basic but does everything you need and is well designed. I’ve needed to contact Mettle a couple of times and it’s been easy and successful each time. Very good service.

They charge for fraud chargebacks (£100) when most other banks don't charge that. It is an optional charge to the customers and they inforce it- other banks waive this fee. Imagine getting scammed and charged £100 for them to investigate and reimburse? Terrible!
I was recommended Mettle by a business friend & I’ve been thoroughly pleased with all of my interactions so far. The set up process went smoothly & now I’m using the app it just makes business banking so much easier. 10/10 Recommend!
