Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 139 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. People frequently encounter poor customer service, unhelpful support teams, and dismissive attitudes when attempting to resolve ongoing vehicle problems. Customers also experience frustrating delays, poor communication, and extended periods without courtesy vehicles during maintenance, repairs, and warranty claims. Some reviewers were happy with specific staff members who provided attentive, polite, and knowledgeable assistance during showroom visits. A few consumers also mentioned that the vehicles deliver a surprisingly smooth ride, excellent design, and comfortable performance when functioning properly. However, these positive moments are often overshadowed by widespread mechanical faults and difficulties with aftercare services.

I brought a Hyundai kona 2 years ago

I brought a Hyundai kona 2 years ago, the paint work is flaking off so I went into Hyundai hoping they would help but spoke to a very rude after sales girl called Evie who was vey unpleasant and unhelpful who said because I didn’t use Hyundai to service my car it invalidated my warranty amd they are not responsible for the repair,
So if anyone is looking to buy a new car that lasts longer than 2 years DO NOT buy a Hyundai

Complaint against Hyundai Finance…

My complaint is against Hyundai Finance specifically. On 4 August 2026 a payment was made to settle the outstanding finance on a vehicle. Unfortunately an overpayment of nearly £500 was made. Hyundai Finance refused to accept that the payment had been made until they "found" the money on 14th August. I have now received a settlement letter but I am battling to get my overpayment refunded. I have spoken to Customer Services and Customer Relations who can only say it is with the Finance Department who are not Customer facing so I cannot talk to them. I have raised a complaint but they say it can take 8 weeks to get a response, this is on top of the 4 weeks it took them to acknowledge the overpayment. Not only that but within days they were threatening to add interest charges to any unpaid direct debit that I had cancelled because the settlement had been paid in full. I find this very stressful and flies in the face of the excellent customer relationship built by the sales team (I bought 2 cars). Although I'm happy with the vehicles this experience has soured my views on Hyundai and I won't be buying any further cars from them as a result.

Never get finance or buy a car with Hyundai!

Very disappointed with Hyundai. I’ve had a PCP with them since 2022 and have had ongoing issues with the car repeatedly going into “limp mode”. Despite taking it back to the garage numerous times and providing video evidence, I was repeatedly told there was “no fault” showing on their system. I was even questioned about whether it was my driving or whether I “brake too much”, which I found extremely dismissive.

I raised a formal complaint, but again nothing was done. I was later told they couldn’t even access the videos I had provided. I’ve been left with a car I don’t feel is fit or reliable to drive, with no meaningful solution offered and no option to hand it back early.

I’ve put a lot of money into this car intending to purchase it at the end of the PCP, but due to the lack of support and ongoing issues, I now feel forced to return it. Extremely disappointing customer service and a complete lack of support.

Very efficient

Ordered a lawnmower at 11.30am, arrived the next day at the same time and they were able to beat all other sellers of the machine.

Bad after sales service

Now, don't get me wrong, I love my car and would buy another Hyundai, but the service I have received since purchasing has been terrible.
I have a list of things that did not happen that should have done and how, in less than 3 weeks, my car had to go back in twice - once was a problem when changing the number plates and the other was an engine issue (unpredictable). What has annoyed me is the lack of clarity and customer service.
I have huge issues with Hyundai Southampton

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic tool for refreshing…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic tool for refreshing artificial grass!I am incredibly impressed with this artificial grass brush. It does an amazing job of lifting up flattened turf and making the lawn look brand new again. It is powerful, easy to steer, and saves so much time compared to manual sweeping. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to keep their artificial grass looking pristine!

Hyundai in Holiday

Hyundai in Holiday, FL, or New Port Richey installed all-new window switches, including a new master switch. You can imagine, with those commission-hungry salesmen, how much I had to pay. Now, months later, instead of fixing it, they pushed it off to Hyundai, which denied it, and they did that because there's no commission to rob me out of it anymore. If you can avoid this dealer, please do, because they're only commission-hungry. And I'm a disabled veteran.

EPB button became very loose and this…

EPB button became very loose and this was mentioned to Hyundai garage in one of the visits for Service/MOT. Instead of replacing it they decided to glue it. I was not aware of the solution used until when the button totally broke and I was told at another garage that this has been glued before.
I raised a complaint with Hyundai and never had a proper reply from them so I had to pay myself for a replacement

A year with the remarkable Hyundai Inster EV 02

My wife and I bought a Hyundai Inster 02 EV a year ago. After traveling 11,500 mile, the Inster has proved to be an amazingly adaptable small EV. It has worked well as a flexible small 4 seater town car, and a dog crate transporter. It is equally at home in tight spaced town car parks, narrow country lanes or on long distance motor way trips. Passengers have remarked on the smoothness of the ride, its excellent design and easy access for both young and old alike. Well done Hyundai. When seen by strangers in car parks many wanted to know where they could get one. I am astounded at the quality of both the design and build such a small mid range flexible vehicle. It is by far the easiest and most satisfying vehicle I have ever owned or driven.

Resolved eventually, but only after unacceptable escalation

I bought a new Hyundai INSTER partly because I regarded Hyundai as a reputable manufacturer producing reliable cars, and because its stated ethos appealed to me.

Just over a year later, the vehicle developed a ‘Check electric motor cooling system’ warning. The AA confirmed an active coolant leak and instructed me not to drive it. What followed was an extremely frustrating attempt to find an authorised Hyundai retailer willing to accept an immobilised vehicle for warranty attention.

One retailer failed to respond despite several callback requests. Hyundai Customer Services then arranged recovery to Endeavour Hyundai Watford, where a diagnostic appointment was booked. When the recovery driver arrived, Endeavour refused to accept the vehicle because the appointment was nearly a month away.

Hyundai Customer Services eventually intervened and redirected the vehicle to Brayley Hyundai St Albans, which accepted it, took ownership of the problem and repaired it. My train fare was also reimbursed. Charley in Customer Services deserves particular credit for her apologies, regular updates and the work she did behind the scenes to resolve matters.

I subsequently received Hyundai safety recall 61D127 concerning the INSTER three-way coolant valve. The same campaign number and component are recorded on the repair paperwork, suggesting that the breakdown was caused by the specific issue covered by the recall.

I am grateful that the immediate problem was ultimately resolved, but I ought not to have needed formal complaints to both Hyundai Motor UK and Hyundai Finance before my non-driveable, nearly new vehicle could be accepted and repaired. Hyundai has said it will review how I was left in that position, and I sincerely hope it does.

The enormous variation between authorised retailers has badly undermined my confidence in the brand. It is a great shame because Hyundai’s reputation and ethos had been important factors in my decision to buy the car.

Refused Hyundai Promise Benefit

Bought a pre-owned Hyundai in February 2024 from Johnson's Hyundai in Coventry that was covered under their Hyundai Promise Benefits. This clearly stated the car we purchased would have it's 5 year warranty reset at time of purchase, however they never did and are claiming that no so benefit ever existed. Yet I have the screenshots from their website that prove them wrong.
Basically, scam artists.

Hyundai Tucson servicing and diagnostic problems

Our Hyundai Tucson has been lovely to drive, and we were treated well at the dealership at London, but we've been shocked at the difficulties experienced with any aftercare, which we are actually paying for annually. If you try booking into any diagnostic check if something goes wrong, you are told it will take at least three months to book in for a check! And that's before they physically fix anything. You are treated like an annoyance rather than a valued customer who has spent thousands of pounds buying the vehicle in the first place. I wouldn't recommend buying a Hyundai based on the repeatedly frustrating experience (this has happened multiple times) in terms of the servicing and trying to fix anything that goes wrong.

I have been extremely disappointed with…

I have been extremely disappointed with Hyundai UK’s customer service and the way my complaint has been handled.

I was paying into a Hyundai Service Subscription every month, building up around £160 towards my scheduled service. However, when my vehicle was serviced at Hyundai Endeavour Watford, the dealership could not see my active subscription because Hyundai had failed to correctly register it on their systems.

As a result, I was forced to pay the full £289 service cost out of my own pocket, despite already having money built up in my subscription that should have been deducted.

Hyundai later admitted this was their mistake. Instead of reimbursing the amount that should have been applied at the time of the service, they told me the accumulated balance would simply remain on the subscription and be used at my next service, around two years later. I found this completely unacceptable. I should not have to wait years to access money that should have been used because of Hyundai’s own administrative error.

To make matters worse, Hyundai initially provided incorrect information about my entitlement to a refund before later changing their position and relying on the cancellation terms and conditions, despite my complaint being about their failure to honour an active Service Subscription when my vehicle was serviced.

After weeks of emails, apologies and contradictory information, I still have no satisfactory resolution. I have now escalated the matter to The Motor Ombudsman for independent review.

Mistakes can happen, but what matters is how a company puts them right. Sadly, Hyundai UK has failed to do that in my case.

Very disappointing customer service and complaints handling.

Always loved our Hyundai cars BUT...

Always loved our Hyundai cars - not a problem with the cars themselves, they're great.

The aftercare is bad, when it comes to warranty. They charge a £150 "diagnostic" fee to see if an issue is in warranty. So you want me to risk paying £150 to find out what the issue is, when my local garage will check it out for free?

Dealership also reiterating that the fault makes the car illegal to drive... yet cant get you booked in for a month?

Seems wrong - the warranty is there to protect us - not to be gatekept behind a hefty diagnostic fee.

After service is rubbish

We bought a Hyundai expecting the breakdown cover that came with it to work when we needed it.

Instead, when my husband broke down, he was told he wasn't covered, leaving us with no choice but to buy AA breakdown cover ourselves.

Hyundai Assist has since admitted the incorrect advice was their mistake, yet both they and the dealer - RN Golden at Huddersfield keep telling us to contact the AA.

Surely if Hyundai's error caused us to pay for cover we shouldn't have needed, Hyundai should be refunding us—not sending us elsewhere.

Does anyone know anyone from Hyundai that can help or can someone from @Hyundai_UK please take ownership of this and get it resolved?

I purchased a small petrol power washer…

I purchased a small petrol power washer online as a back up for my business . I left it in the box for a month as I went on holiday.
When I got home I unpacked it and tried it out on my own property . Clearly after 3/4 minutes the machine started vibrating and moves uncontrolled . I contacted Hyundai and sent them a video as requested showing
The movement - I got an email back from a gentleman telling me from the video I needed to chock the wheels to stop Movement ?
Isn”t it a mobile power washer ???
I have 2 other honda a power washers to a higher spec and they don’t move uncontrolled . I also recieved a further email telling me to return for inspection and that I would be charged if no fault was found … The ground was perfectly flat !! Although they also said it was the ground conditions . This is not my first rodeo gentlemen .
What a load of rubbish both the machine and after sales ..
