Cancelled order to gain more profit!
I purchased a Polar air conditioning unit at 6:45 this morning at £466, at the time they had plenty of stock showing on their website and I found the same unit with different online retailers but were a tad more expensive so I went for it after seeing the below really good reviews.
Around an hour or so later I noticed the price on their website had jumped up almost £100 for the same unit, I did t think much of it and just that I must have been lucky with the price!
However at almost 3pm this afternoon I had an email stating my order has been cancelled at my request with a refund! I haven’t cancelled the order.
I have received a second email telling me that my order was not processed due to stock levels with the supplier and that my order was too late!
I personally find this hard to believe considering how early this morning I paid for and ordered the air conditioner! I strongly believe that orders after mine were fulfilled at the higher cost and mine was cancelled!
With the heat we are having and an 8 month old baby at home I would have been more than happy to pay the higher amount or even cancelled first thing this morning and purchased from their competitor, by the time 3pm came around the units have been sold out everywhere!
I’m disappointed with the service from this company and feel like I have been misled and disregarded all in the name of an extra £100ish!

We’re really sorry for the disappointment and frustration caused by this situation, especially given the circumstances at home and the need for the unit.
To clarify, all orders we received for this item were placed on Friday morning and later that afternoon, we were advised by our supplier that they had unfortunately oversold their available stock and all orders had been cancelled whilst they tried to work through the backlog on their end.
Our website is linked directly with our supplier’s live stock system, as are other retailers and when the stock became available it resulted in a large influx of orders which unfortunately caused the supplier to oversell.
The order was then automatically cancelled in line with the supplier’s update and we sent an email to advise you of this. At the time, the supplier had not provided us with a confirmed restock date so we were unable to keep the order open.
We completely understand your frustration but we can confirm that all affected orders were cancelled and none were fulfilled at the higher price.
We’re genuinely sorry this happened and appreciate how disappointing it was but unfortunately this was due to a stock allocation issue at supplier level rather than a decision made by us to cancel and resell the unit.
Unbeatable service every time
If I am buying any equipment for my business then I’ll always check to see in Empire have it first. Their service is unbeatable, I have recently dealt with Abbie and once again there wasn’t anything that she couldn’t handle, choosing the right product, booking in delivery and checking in to see if everything went ok, this kind of service is so rare now and I’m incredibly grateful.
