Domestika is amazing. I like because of the caliber of artists…professional artists in the field, instead of hobbyists/side hustle types that seems to fill up other platforms. A huge annoyance is u... See more

Some technical delays. Other courses do a split screen showing the instructor and the reference so users can work along with teacher. That is much more effective

Unexpected €302.25 charge

I was a returning Domestika customer and had purchased several courses from them over time. However, my recent experience made me absolutely appalled. I recently purchased 3 courses for €0.79 each, with a one-month free subscription. Later, I discovered that €302.25 had been charged from my bank account for a full-year subscription. I immediately contacted Domestika and requested a refund, explaining that I had never intended to purchase a €302.25 annual subscription. Their response was simply an automated reply refusing the refund.
Since then, I have repeatedly contacted them and sent email every day for several days, asking for someone to properly review and resolve my case. I have received no further response whatsoever.
Whenever I have experienced an unexpected subscription charge with legitimate companies, the situation was quickly resolved, with a full refund. In this case, Domestika is unwilling even to communicate with me as a customer. After reading numerous other reviews describing very similar experiences, it becomes clear that this is not an isolated incident but a recurring problem with this company. This kind of practice and customer treatment is just shameful.

DREADFUL company - tricks people into buying subscriptions they don’t want BEWARE

I am absolutely furious with my experience with Domestika.

I clicked on a Facebook advert and somehow ended up signing up for a 30-day trial. I vaguely remember looking at one of their courses, but it was dreadful: it was in a language I couldn’t understand and the translation was poor and it was impossible to follow. I immediately forgot about it.

I have no memory of knowing that I was signing up for an annual subscription. Perhaps the information was there somewhere and I should have noticed it, but I genuinely had no idea I had committed to an annual payment of $363.61. That is the important point.

The process is presented in a way that makes it extremely easy to misunderstand what you are signing up for and accidentally end up with a subscription you never intended to have.

The first I knew about it was a PayPal notification telling me Domestika had taken $363.61 from my credit card. I was shocked and had no idea what the charge was for, so I initially reported it as fraudulent.

PayPal closed the claim because Domestika could apparently demonstrate that I had agreed to the subscription. I then searched my emails and eventually found Domestika’s messages in my junk folder.

This is where I find their practices particularly questionable.

They had enough information to prove to PayPal that I had apparently agreed to a subscription, so they could clearly have addressed me by name. Yet every email simply began “Hello!” — with no name, no indication that it concerned an important account or payment, and nothing to distinguish it from spam.

All their emails went into my junk folder, including the one explaining the subscription and the need to cancel within 30 days. Even if it had reached my inbox, I could easily have deleted it without reading it because it looked like spam.

They know who I am when they want to prove I agreed to a subscription, but not when communicating an impending $363.61 annual charge. Customers should receive clear, prominent information about the price, renewal date, subscription length and cancellation process. A proper receipt or invoice would also be more transparent than a generic-looking email.

When I asked Domestika to cancel the subscription and refund the money, they simply quoted their policy and said I had missed the cancellation period. They still made me cancel it myself, and the cancellation process included further attempts to persuade me to stay, mentioning credits and other benefits.

In my experience, they make it remarkably easy to end up paying for something you did not intend to buy, while making it difficult to get your money back.

I accept that I may have made a mistake and that information about the subscription may technically have been available. That does not make the way it is presented acceptable.

$363.61 is a huge amount of money, and I am devastated that this has happened.

Having read other reviews, I am even angrier to see the same complaints repeated, followed by the same patronising responses from Domestika.

Yes, this company is very good at what it does. And that is tricking people into giving them money for nothing.

Difficult to find classes by instructor

Difficult to find classes by instructor. Pricing is not what it used to be when I frequently purchased classes. Too big a push on Plus subscription, not wanted — I prefer paying for individual classes at reasonable (not high) prices. VERY poor ratings on social media. I used to love Domestika, but no longer due to pricing and difficulty navigating the app.

Rejected refund

I tried to buy a single course on Domestika and ended up unintentionally subscribed to an annual Domestika Plus plan for USD 200. I noticed the charge just 30 minutes after making it, immediately cancelled the auto-renewal, and requested a refund from the company. Domestika rejected my request twice, with generic responses, without evaluating my case. Crazy how companies still get away with this in 2026.

Scam website

Scam website! Be aware! Just purchased a course on Domestica which was advertised for £0.59 for a 30-day period to try. However, just looked on my account and it turns out that they charged me £19 (full price!) for this course. During the check out process, the price in my cart was £0.59 the whole time, but somehow after check out, it turned into £19! Scammers! Not only that, but if after the 30-days trial period, this will turn into a subscription, I am going after you Domestica!! 😡🤬😡

Domestika's Courses Truly Enriching

I love the way the lessons are conducted. Very organized and step-by-step. I've applied whatever I've learned. Domestika is the only platform I go to for all my art lessons. And that's because I trust Domestika's art courses.
