Cashier Lazy

Portsmouth, Commercial Road branch.
Waited a long time in queue as they walled off access to the self-checkouts and rather than squeeze by everyone behind us we stuck it out.
Got to til, served. Was fine. Nothing special. My mum was stood right next to me holding her items to be served right after me.
Cashier mad eye contact with us both and clearly noted that my mum was also to be served.
Got to the end, pointed out customer survey on receipt and then declared she wasn't serving anymore and left the checkout, leaving my mum holding her items and myself stood there like absolute idiots. We then had to wait further for the checkout next to us to finish refunding their items before we could then be served.
At no point whatsoever in my transaction was it indicated, even remotely, that this was the last customer she would be serving.
To add insult to total injury the response to the customer survey was unsatisfactory - a copy paste response of oops, we will pass this along.
No wonder the ratings on here are so low the store is a disgrace. Cheap clothes, cheap service.
I was so incensed after the appalling display that I've come here to write about it!

Total con

Paying for prime, but you have to pay extra for no adverts. Watching a film that is 1hr 49 and it started with a two minute, unstoppable set of ads. Less than fifteen minutes in and there's another two minutes set of unavoidable ads. Total con. Only have prime so I can watch Mighty Nein and then I quit. This is worse than youtube!!!!

Impossible to resolve issues

Want to dispute an unrecognised item on my account. They point to the bank, bank points to them.
Go back to them and use their site to navigate to the dispute form. There is no form it just provides the same information a second time.
Go to the chat bot. Which fails to load the form. Twice. Ask for a human.
Get back in 1 working day.
Meanwhile my credit has taken a hit for something I had nothing to do with. Oh and the lender? Phone or write a letter only.
Seems everyone is trying to make it absolutely impossible to rectify this.

You Need An App For That

I used to be a huge advocate of this store. However the last time I went they advised I would need to present the app at the til to qualify, not just hand over my details. Fair enough, I got rid of the app as they never, not in five years, sent me tokens for the dog food I buy every single month.

On this visit the very nice cashier told me I wouldn't qualify for any offers in store if I did not have the app.

Whilst I cannot fault the colleagues in the stores I can fault the way this company is choosing to do business. I literally go out of my way to visit a store, but will instead be using this last purchase to put my dog onto another food that I can buy locally - without needing apps or a 20 minute drive.

Don't expect to retain customers when you make it harder and harder for us to shop with you.

Hello Erin. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really sorry to hear about your recent experience and the frustration caused by the app requirement at the till.

We completely understand how disappointing it must be to feel like you're being asked to jump through hoops just to access offers—especially when you've been a loyal customer for years. Your commitment to shopping with us, even going out of your way to visit our stores, means a lot, and we’re genuinely sorry that this change has made things more difficult.

While our app is designed to make rewards and offers more accessible, we recognise that it doesn’t work for everyone. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we’ll be passing it on to the relevant teams to review how we can better support customers who prefer a simpler shopping experience. We’re also glad to hear that our store colleagues provided great service, and we’ll make sure that’s acknowledged too. Thank you again for contacting us. Best wishes, Steph.

Borderline Harassment

Edit to add: I blocked their number. I've since received another voicemail attempt and then an email. I've now emailed to be removed from the system. Seriously so not give them your details. I'm half expecting them to turn up at my house!

Put in my details (foolishly) for a quote. Was just fact finding, didn't need anything yet awhile but forward planning.
I've since received multiple calls, voicemails, texts and emails. In fact I'm writing this review as I've been called on a Sunday, and left a further call, voicemail, email, and a text within the space of 2 minutes.
They've actually put me off doing any business with them again (I used them several years ago and they were good to use, but by goodness they harass you for a casual quote).
If I was interested I would have answered one of the calls Ive received every day for the past week, or the emails, voicemails or texts. Worse than a clingy ex!

Healthy, happy and thriving

Unlike another recently shipped batch from another company, these guys actually delivered healthy and thriving plants.
Dispatch time was impeccable, arrived the next day and in perfect well packed condition. Plants came out the box surprisingly happy considering their journey.
I'm over the moon and definitely will be ordering again. This is how it's done - the other company could learn a lot.

It's finally over.

It's finally over.

I'm now paying £100 DD to another company just so I don't have to put up with SP any longer.

It's been a breath of fresh air so far after dealing with this shambles of a company for so long.

The issues began with the credit vouchers during COVID. They tried to tell me I used one up at around 2am Christmas morning, but couldn't tell me which store was open for me to do that. They then offered me £10. I persisted for my £66, and after months of going through their complaints procedure (absolute joke) I took them to the ombudsmen where they had to pay out double that for their incompetency. Should've just paid what I was owed.

The final straw was when their app went down for maintenance. I topped up just before. I guess they thought they knew better and without my consent or knowledge added to the balance. Then told me a few weeks later I owed it back, and would receive a letter. I'm still waiting for a letter, I'm still waiting for a response to my complaint about the audacity of it.

Their customer service then told me it was an error and I didn't owe them. Except they've been charging me £5 a day for nearly a week now. It was £10 credit they added to the account. I spend no more than £45 a month on leccy, so you can imagine my finances have been hit hard.

They had no right to do it. So I finally bit the bullet and today I have the email to say I'm a customer entirely to a different supplier.

Oh, and the real kicker? They've sent me multiple emails and texts begging me to stay. £100 credit offered (they'd find a way to claw that back and all). Not even for ten times that would I stay another second. Then the feedback option.

IT DIDN'T WORK.

It presented an error and could not report back the feedback that they'd specifically asked for. Even the form is broken!!

How very on point.

Good riddance.

Review of Napo Pet Insurance

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Excessive renewals. Not worth it.

I signed up to Napo about 12 months ago. I chose Napo primarily as I needed pet insurance and there was a £50 voucher for doing so.
They endearingly sent my dog a cupcake set for his birthday. Unfortunately that's where the positives ended for me.
The quote for renewal was excessive. I've never made a claim, my dog is a healthy four year old and not a breed prone to issues. The quote I received was an increase of about £10 a month and this is non-negotiable in their words.
I cancelled my plan today and will not be continuing nor recommending to others. I couldn't say how good they are if you make a claim because I've fortunately not had to, but I'm not sticking around to find out.
I would rather put the £25 a month away in a fund for my dog, it seems a much more logical approach.

Update:
Response from Napo is a copy paste of every other response to this same issue. Downgrading cover? I can pay more for the same level of cover offered for the last year, or pay the same for less? Alternatively, find someone offering better, which isn't that hard? Tough decision to make, Napo! The business model is clearly designed to lure folks in with a good first year and then hike up the costs. I'm lucky I got out before being tied in with a preexisting condition.
I hope other potential customers look beyond the positive comments and see those of us who have seen the other side to this company. Shoddy practice.

Reply from Napo Pet Insurance

Hi Erin,

I'm really sorry to hear your increase at renewal has sadly led to you leaving us. I appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback, we value the good and bad as it's how we improve.

Whether you have claimed or not, our renewal prices take into consideration the future risks so it's likely premiums will increase each year.

How much that increase will be, will depend on your unique circumstances such as your pet’s age, breed and the current trends we may see among pets of comparable breeds and ages to your pet.

It’s great to hear your pup is healthy and whilst they’re still young, the truth is as our pets get older, their health risks sadly increase (just like us). We price future health risks based on our claims model as we are able to study pets that are similar to your pet (similar breed, age and location). When we see an increase in this trend, we reflect this in our pricing model accordingly as your vet costs are likely to increase too.

I’m aware you’ve decided to leave us and I completely appreciate your reasoning. Whilst we don’t offer any discounts on renewals at the moment, there's always the option of exploring downgrading your cover level, in turn reducing the cost.

If you’d like to discuss this further or have any other questions feel free to drop me an email on support@napo.pet and I'd be happy to help.

Best wishes,
Sam from Napo

I used to love Waterstones.

I used to love Waterstones.
Payday would be the best time as I could go to the store and drop my wages on a fresh round of beautiful books to enjoy. I was a regular user of the Waterstones card and blue light for online discounts as well. I was a big fan.
I no longer shop here. I've replaced my Waterstones card with a garden centre card and books for plants.
Waterstones are not a friendly company. Their recent advertising choices are testament to the fact they really don't care. I asked to close my account as a result and a few weeks later they send me an email asking to review some "recent" purchases. So I've contacted back for a full deletion of my details.
Do better, Waterstones. It'll be a longtime before I support you again and will be sourcing my books from independents from now on.

Hard to find goodies at reasonable prices

Made my first order after plenty of hesitation. A friend of mine actually ordered first and when they had prompt delivery and delicious Japanese snacks, I knew I had to take the plunge as well.
Delivery was very swift - two days from order to stomach. Reasonably priced. Snacks are mostly inexpensive, especially considering what other places try to charge. All perfectly packaged and exactly as ordered.
I'm completely over the moon and this'll make the long months between visits all the easier to bear. I will be placing another order next month without a doubt!

Exactly as needed

Needed a no-interest credit card. Searched and applied for the John Lewis card, offered about six months no interest and more than enough credit to pay what I needed.
As someone who had bad credit not too long ago it was really nice to be accepted and given what I needed without hassle.
Found the £5 John lewis gift voucher a bit stingy given I'd spent £2.5k on the card but it was better than nothing.
Fast forward six months and I'd paid the card off and have now closed the account as no longer required. Process was hassle free.
My only complaint is contacting by email is not possible. Not all of us use phones and the chat isn't applicable to those of us awake after hours.
The email I was sent with a survey to complete was amusing. I opened the survey and it immediately advised me there was nothing to answer. I wasn't able to contact the company about this as I wasn't going to the effort to call them.
A minor hiccup to otherwise impeccable service. Thank you John Lewis for helping me fund my first holiday in almost five years. Much appreciated!

Not interested in new customers?

I wanted to join this company over my current one, who have treated me badly. It wouldn't result in any kind of savings - the positive reviews made me want to switch to a better service.
Unfortunately it seems my business isn't worth their time. I originally contacted back at the end of June and received a quote.
Three emails and now the end of August later, they haven't replied to my last email sent two weeks ago and I'm no further than receiving a worthless quote.
For whatever reason they aren't inclined to respond and they aren't inclined to take me on as a customer, so I don't rate them very highly and will be looking to another company to move to.
It's a real shame as they're so highly valued - must be some well kept secret how you get to be a customer!

Surprised by all the negative reviews

Surprised by all the negative reviews. I've had my card for sometime now - I've managed to get myself a new kitchen table and chairs, desk, couch, bedding - a number of items. The cost has been spread out to make it more affordable and it's worked very well for me.
I've calculated in advance if I'll be able to afford to pay off the total sum in the time frame to avoid the hefty interest fee and in this way I've been able to furnish my home.
If you don't overdo it and pay off in time it works great. I try to make sure I make final payment one month before the deadline in case there are any issues.
Just be sensible and it can work for you.

Discrimination - AVOID.

I placed an order last night. Had a message this morning querying the information given - advised the clinician that I am a trans patient. My order was then declined, with no reason given. The medication requested was in no way impacted by that information - I've been treated with it before. I am absolutely disgusted at this service and their discriminatory behaviour, and I will be seeking to take this further.

Hope you don't end up on the table...

Further edit to the edit: they never replied to the email. Company is ultimately a scam. Please don't waste your money.

Further edit: dropped a star as they have yet to respond to my email communication. It's been almost a month and counting.
This is seriously just a cash grab and nothing more. Please don't waste your money on it.

Edit: Now the show has finished and I know fully what to expect, I have dropped the score to three stars.

The event started at about 13:00, as opposed to the advertised 12:00 start. Yes, we were sat in the venue for a full hour prior to it beginning.
There were zero covid 19 precautions. Only about four people in the entire crowd wore a mask, there was no preventative measures - not even ventilation. Bags were not checked on entry for safety.

We were promptly told no food or drink of our own could be consumed for insurance purposes, but they were happy to sell us the same crisps and cans of drink at a premium price (coffee + crisps = £5) to consume in the same area.

The very real looking body was missing a large portion; quickly noticed that the groin area and upper legs were missing, I guess as they weren't immediately relevant, but this was disappointing as it detracted from the realism.
The presenter was well spoken, very clear and easy to hear. There was a lot of technical jargon. From what I understood, there was a heavy emphasis on processes within the body, such as functions of nervous systems etc, and a brief talk about what happens in death. Several slides were skipped over entirely.

The dissection itself was painfully minimal. The extra specimens given to those with bigger wallets was an extra pig head. This is the only specimen you have; you are meant to remove an eye and later, the brain. There is no actual cut into the brain or any other organ whatsoever. The corpse being investigated is also minimally dissected; there is a brief look into the voice box and a quick look at the outside of the lungs. This is it.

There was then a 35-45 minute interval. We were all seated approx 10 minutes prior to the presenter returning, which was after his suggested time for us to be seated again. Another lot of time wasted.

The detective aspect is even more minimal. The website makes out that you will be taking part in the active discovery of what happened to the unfortunate person. Instead, this is given in a single slide at the end and the show is over. There is no examination in to what happened at all, so don't expect this. There are about three slides that basically say a report has come over from x department, and then the presenter will look into the file and discuss briefly (I cannot exaggerate this enough; the whole thing was BRIEF) some facts regarding what was eaten and the possible suspects.

I have to admit the overall experience was quite simply oversold, over priced and underwhelming. I was already jaded having spent more money on the tickets than I ought to - I received a hefty discount code a few days after I got tickets, which stung.

If you're interested in going I'd make sure you get the cheapest tickets available. Premium front row is not worth it - there was no front row to speak of, rather "zones", and the view offered was little better. The extra specimen I already covered. It isn't worth the cost, so don't be fooled by the hype.

I love pick n' mix

I love pick n' mix. And these guys do it almost perfectly.

I went for the medium sized bag which was a self-indulgent moment I'd longed for for a couple of months. Delivery was a little long, but I hadn't paid for anything special so I didn't expect it to arrive on the following day - plus I'd ordered over a weekend, so I don't fault them for this.

The box was discreet and the goods well cushioned. I must say, the jelly sweets are top quality. Fresh, chewy and delicious. The panda chocolate is okay - not my personal favourite. The kola cubes were also good, albeit not the cola of my childhood. I don't think they do it anymore.

The bubblegum bottles are superb, as are the fangs and snakes, dolphins and crocodiles. All absolute perfection, high quality.

I've given four stars because the cola and cherry cola bottles are really not good. They are hard, the sugar has come off a few and they don't taste good. They aren't a good quality bottle for me and I was a little disappointed by this. They were the only disappointment in the bag and I know for future to skip them. I've actually dug through the bag to remove them - I just can't eat them.

That said, I will most certainly be ordering again because the quality of the rest of the sweets is unbeatable. The fact the majority are also wheat free has meant my partner has been able to share them (perhaps that isn't a good thing after all?), which is a big bonus.

Overall I do recommend these guys!

Trash quality clothes, zero support

Not surprised to see how poorly they are rated. Please, heed advice here and avoid the STORE.

I ordered a Tshirt to the tune of just over £30. I should have returned it immediately upon seeing the peeling print. Since it was on the back, I accepted the 10% off in store and moved on.

I washed the shirt once, to instruction. The entire print on the front is ruined. Absolutely destroyed. I've got a tshirt I purchased six years ago, and the print is in better condition.

I emailed the support team. They're refusing to help as I've washed the item. They direct me to contact their "special" help team.

Who direct me to the store team.

I'm now incredibly fed up with them. I've been a big supporter of this company, but this is beyond ridiculous.

Please do not buy clothes from the store. They are absolute trash quality and won't last a single wash - which at the moment, they aren't bothered by .

Updated Review: they're okay, but could be better

EDIT: As promised I'm overhauling my original review to reflect the overall service.

I placed an order several months ago for two items, one a preorder for a figurine. The in stock item shipped quickly and I was very satisfied.

Unfortunately the figurine was subject to multiple delays, often being pushed back right on the day she was due to be released. This is the nature of the business, and I understand that.

My frustration came when she was released in Japan, coming second hand onto the market, and I still didn't have my preorder. Key word: preorder. When you see a figure you preordered reach the second hand market and you don't have it, it isn't very reassuring.

This was an expensive figure, too, costing over £200.

I'm pleased to say when the day came to finally pay the remaining balance (oddly enough this was literally a day or so after my original review), she was shipped and arrived very quickly. Condition is excellent, no issues with the figure or the box.

Overall I've given them 3 out of 5 as the horrendous delay makes me uncomfortable to do this process again. I highly recommend them for small, inexpensive and IN STOCK purchases but their preorders leave much to be desired.

While I appreciate items take time to get from Japan, this is not something I'm able to control. If this is a frequent occurance for the company perhaps they should consider a more reliable company to ship their goods to them. Just a thought.

Hi Erin - thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're sorry to hear that there is a delay with the item ordered. Whilst many items are released several months earlier in Japan/Asian territories, many of our products are sourced from the official EU distributor(s) for manufacturers. This typically means that releases are 1-2 months after the initial Japanese release, owing to the time taken to ship an item from a Japanese manufacturer by sea to their European distribution partners and then further on to retailers such as ourselves. At the start of this year sea freight was adversely affected due to a number of global issues that were well publicised, and this in turn has resulted in delays to some products.

Where delays occur, customers are notified at the end of each month via email regarding any amendments to product release dates. These are based on the best estimates provided by distributors and in some cases may be subject to further change in the event of unforeseen issues or logistical delays.

Having looked into your order and the responses sent from our customer support team, it has been confirmed that this item is currently in transit to us from the distributor and should arrive in due course for final delivery to customers. The release date has been amended to the end of July, to allow for any unforeseen issues, however it was confirmed by our customer support team in your contact that the product should arrive sooner all being well.

We hope the above helps to explain the reasons for the delay and the difference in release dates. We would hope that you are pleased with the item ordered once it is delivered.
