My car was written off outside my front door, whilst parked one evening. I called one call immediately and provided all the details; ALL the details. I was advised that the incident had been recorded and that i should call back in the morning to finalise the claim when the claim team was in. I called back in the morning; they had no idea what i was talking about. None of the details had been recorded. I had to go through the entire thing again. This includes all sorts of details in addition to the narrative of the incident, it includes the details of the van that hit my car; the registration plate; the other cars damaged; their owner details; witnesses and their details as well as statements; and the subsequent incidents that occurred that required police input. Despite the stress caused; the call handler presented with a distinct lack of compassion for the experience i had or the fact i'd already spent over an hour on the phone providing all of this. Once i provided it all again, the call handler gave me my options, without much support an lacking in any details to support me making an informed choice. I had to ask for time to go and research, she then hung up the phone. I looked into my options and called back the following morning to go ahead with accident management. You know what i'm going to say....the previous call handler had recorded none of the hour and a half call and i had to go through the whole thing again. This time, the call handler presented as competent, i felt relief that i had someone who sounded as though he actually cared about this claim. He took all of the above details and more. He asked to speak with the witnesses; my neighbours, so i went round the doors. My Neighbours took the time to give their personal statements; personal contact details at my request. I'm on this call for 2 hours. I'm told at the end of this call; a form will land in your email address, populated with all of this data; all i have to do is write in my narrative and sign it. The form arrives with nothing in it. I call them and i'm advised as the claim has been made i can no longer call them; everything is done on the customer portal. I tried to explain that the form has not been populated, as i was advised it would be, however it took another 20 mins to convince her to have a dialogue with me as the claim would now only be dealt with online. Eventually she advises that i've been misinformed and that i populate the form. The list above; all of it. I need to do it ALL again. I completed this, sent it back and then radio silence. This happened at the start of August. I checked the customer portal daily; the portal that you have to make a new password EVERY SINGLE TIME you try to log in as it doesn't recognise you. It's now nearing the end of September and the Portal has never been updated to reflect the claim. The salvage company contacted me to let me know my car was written off, the courtesy car providers were lovely and communicated excellently; really spot on company - neither had anything to do other than being subcontracted by one call. The portal has nothing on it. I tried to call to get an update; i informed one call of the write off - they, apparently, didn't know. After that call, in mid September, which seems to have reminded them of the existence of my claim, I received a cheque. No communication - no letter, just the cheque. They were quick to contact me when i cancelled my direct debit to tell me i owed them money, however. This is absolutely not ONE CALL - it was several. It added stress to an already stressful situation - i understand that's not their problem, but there was no customer service. The accident management company One Call Direct, blamed One Call Insurance - and vice versa. A lesson learned; you really do get what you pay for....the Portal still doesn't reflect the outcome of the claim and this is, according to the company, the only way to access and keep up to date with your policy/claim.
