Dangerous driving by Breedon cement mixer – Reg RX66 BVV
I was driving today, 14th August at approximately 11:45am, along Peacock Lane onto Vigar Way in Bracknell, approaching the A329.
I was correctly positioned in the left-hand lane for turning left onto the A329 when a Breedon cement mixer, registration RX66 BVV, used a lane intended for traffic travelling straight ahead to turn left, cutting across my path. I had to take evasive action to avoid a collision and sounded my horn.
The response from the driver was extremely concerning. I was met with verbal abuse and an offensive hand gesture. At the next roundabout, as we joined the A329, the driver then appeared to deliberately move the vehicle towards me in a manner that caused me to take further evasive action to avoid being forced off the road.
This was not simply poor driving or a minor mistake — it was dangerous and potentially could have resulted in a serious collision.
The vehicle appeared to have cameras mounted on the sides, so I would strongly encourage Breedon to review the footage from the vehicle and investigate exactly what happened.
I contacted Breedon immediately to raise a formal complaint. Unfortunately, my first call was disconnected. I called again and was told that a message would be passed on, but at the time of writing I have received no return call or acknowledgement regarding what I consider to be a very serious road-safety incident.
I would expect a company operating large commercial vehicles to take allegations of dangerous driving extremely seriously. If this is how one of their drivers is prepared to behave on a public road, it raises obvious concerns about whether the same standards of safety and care are being followed elsewhere.
Breedon — please investigate this incident, review the vehicle's camera footage and contact me regarding the outcome.
