Generell nutze ich Proton auch als Mail Programm und nutze auch die anderen Produkte, wie den Passwort Manager, die Cloud und den Authenticicator.
Ich bin mit Proton sehr zufrieden und kann mir keinen besseren Anbieter vorstellen.
Das einzige was ich bemängeln könnte, ist, dass die VPN Verbindung manchmal weniger Bandbreite bietet als man selbst als Anschluss hat, aber mind. 100mbit/s waren bei mir immer problemlos möglich.

Prix élevé, mais la confidentialité suisse justifie le choix
Utilisatrice de Proton VPN depuis plusieurs années. Globalement satisfaite pour la confidentialité et la sécurité. Le chiffrement et l'hébergement en Suisse sont des atouts majeurs.
Points d'amélioration : tarif élevé. Connexions parfois lentes, particulièrement via Secure Core. Performance variable selon les serveurs.
Malgré le coût et les lenteurs occasionnelles, je reste cliente car la base suisse et la robustesse du système de confidentialité compensent pour moi.

AVOID, disreputable, useless
Useless, many websites detect Proton and block it. Proton makes it VERY difficult to cancel with many obstacles and long delays to their 'money back guarantee. AVOID, disreputable, useless.

On another note, cancelling your Proton VPN subscription is pretty straight-forward. All you need to do is log into your Proton account at https://protonvpn.com. Then, navigate to the "Subscription" tab, click on "Explore other Proton plans", select the Free plan, then confirm the downgrade. As for refunds, they are not processed automatically, so you need to request one by contacting us through the above-mentioned contact form (https://proton.me/legal/terms).
ARNAQUE et Surveillance d'activité .
Je pense avoir été escroqué de près de 100€ sur le site web de Proton vpn ou un faux site . Je me suis abonné suite aux publicités et avis mensongers , installé sur android tv avec connexion filaire sur fibre optique , coupures intempestifs. Et sur smartphone s'est un vrai interrupteur internet quand le vpn est activé sur le serveur le plus rapide et même Pays rien ne passe pas même 1Mo de bande passante ( c'est dire que c'est très très sécurisé ) donc le soit disant support est inaccessible et l'envoi d'analyse est impossible . Si ce abonnement de 2 ans n'est pas une ARNAQUE cela y RESSEMBLE COMME DES GOUTTES D'EAU.
Parfois il se déconnecte tout seul sans raison . VRAIMENT UNE ESCROQUERIE .
La réponse de Proton vpn n'est pas adéquate ou ma requête n'est pas comprise , je n'ai pas d'autres vpn ni antivirus et comme déjà dit le vpn est un interrupteur donc impossible d'envoyer une analyse comme le support le sais très bien. Une escroquerie qui est bien organisée.

Mon expérience avec Proton est assez décevante. Même pour une opération simple comme la clôture du compte, la procédure m’a semblé inutilement compliquée et peu intuitive. C’est regrettable pour un service censé être pratique et fiable. Je ne compte donc plus utiliser ce type de messagerie.

The Good and The Bad...ProtonVpn
The Good: Solid encryption, clean interface, strong no-logging commitment. Gets the basics right for privacy-conscious users.
The Bad:
Slow servers: Many Plus-tier servers struggle with throughput. 4K streaming buffers, large downloads drag—noticeably slower than competitors at the same price point.
Endless YouTube CAPTCHAs: Almost every session triggered "I'm not a bot" screens on YouTube across multiple servers and countries. Extremely frustrating and kills the streaming experience.
Swiss jurisdiction uncertainty: Switzerland is pushing a revised surveillance law (VÜPF) that could force providers with 5,000+ users to collect government IDs, log IP/metadata for 6 months, and potentially decrypt data on demand—all via executive decree, no parliamentary vote. Proton says they're moving infrastructure to the EU (€100M investment) and the law may not technically apply to their zero-knowledge setup, but the legal landscape is clearly shifting.
Bottom line: Great for encryption-first users, but slow speeds and constant CAPTCHA friction hurt daily usability. The Swiss law changes add real uncertainty even if Proton fights it. Worth considering if Proton relocates fully—and if speeds improve

Regarding the CAPTCHA, this usually happens when there are many users connected to the same server and trying to access the same website simultaneously, which may be interpreted as a bot that is trying to spam or scrape the web, and you're then prompted with CAPTCHA. More often than not, simply switching to a different server should resolve this issue. For more details on how to avoid CAPTCHAs while using Proton VPN, navigate to https://protonvpn.com/support/avoid-captchas.
Lastly, Switzerland is revising an ordinance that could lead to increased internet surveillance. However, this ordinance will not affect anyone for several years. Furthermore, the ordinance is incompatible with Proton's business model, and we're committed to fighting it. We will never comply with such changes, and we are confident that we can prevent them. While we believe we can still change things, we must take some steps to protect our users if we were to be unsuccessful in this fight. We have taken some steps to ensure a contingency plan in such a case, which involves infrastructure investments in Norway and Germany. However, our services remain fully based and operated from Switzerland for the time being.

Nasty
Nasty. Plain nasty. Their email service is allegedly secure but given the sh!show VPN service I've got my doubts on that.
The 'free' VPN wouldn't load. Trued re connecting to different random servers and nothing would connect at all - god knows what server infrastructure they're using. Won't be paying for any subscription with this lot any year soon - ill stay with NordVPN at least it connects first time round and looking at the other 900 or so reviews the message is resounding clear STAY AWAY!!!

Didn't receive the upgrade and they took my money regardless
Bought pro for 1 month for the purposes of using this on holiday. It took 2.5 weeks to receive the upgrade from free version which was therefore too late. I requested a refund which has not been provided despite my best efforts. They hide behind 'You've purchased it through apple so it is up to them whether it is to be refunded' apple will not allow refunds either.
Therefore they have taken my money and all i have received is the hinderance to try and solve the issue.

Terrible! Their verification code does not arrive. They make you upgrade and then do not send replies for days. When they do reply, it sounds like they never really read your email. Not recommended!

habe ohne vpn eine 100k leitung, wenn ich den vpn an mache komme ich nicht über 300kb/s teilweise laden seiten nicht mal und videos kann man damit komplett vergessen. absoluter müll
Was die hier antworten ist auch müll, habe das Problem auf jedem einzelnen Server von protonvpn

subscription misleading
signed up for one month and they renewed my subscription for another month! i dont understand. on the subscription page, you get the choice of annual subscripton or monthly. i chose monthly and they continue renewing it!! how this is a monthly subscription then?

Edit: Tech support did reach out after I cancelled the subscription and offered to troubleshoot. It felt like a very long and involved troubleshooting process, so I declined and was granted a refund. I appreciate that.
Original: I was shocked that this was one of the top rated VPNs. After downloading it and connecting, I was actually not able to connect to the internet at all. An AI "troubleshoot" just gave me some bullshit about -- "oh you just have a very sensitive internet provider and if you do these 15 steps, you can probably connect" -- the whole point of the VPN for me is to be able to safely connect while I am out it the world -- I can't spend 10 hours troubleshooting every Starbucks public internet connection.

Trap
The promotional offers from this VPN service feel like a trap. I received a Discount Deal email, and they also advertise student discounts. However, whenever I click the offer, I’m unable to claim it because I must use the device I originally subscribed with. When I open the app on my phone, the discounted offer is nowhere to be found—only the regular price.
I contacted customer support, and they initially asked me to provide screenshots. After I sent everything they requested, they simply stopped responding. Their customer service has been extremely disappointing.
Because of this experience, I have cancelled my subscription and will be switching to a different VPN provider. I cannot recommend this service.
