I have just signed up as im doing a care plan for my customers and i cannot access any of my funds, i have followed all of there compliance and they dont reply to me!!

UPDATE 4/9/26, After 3 calls, 9 emails I am still not close to getting this resolved, everyone is coming back saying the cant help, iv provided screenshots of the compliance forms i have filled in and they are saying its not being picked up there end. They are actually starting to be rude about it!

I have been with go careless since 2023 and I think it’s fabulous. So easy to set up, never had one problem with it. Collects payments like a dream!

Unbelievable ripoff. This company charges a customer £9.95 for cancelling a direct debit which was originally proposed and setup by a supplier. Never again will set up a direct debit through Gocardless.

As a customer of Gocardless I cannot recommend this company at all. They have no support available at all. You cannot speak to them as they do not possess a telephone. You have to send a ticket which is in itself quite challenging as they think they have the solution on line. But don't. It can take 7 days for GoCardless to respond to a ticket by which time over problems have arisen. They NEVER respond to the issue on the ticket and always respond to an issue they wanted you to have. I have spent 6 weeks with support to pay our customers back funds they are due. But in that time GoCardless has made the process worse. No attempt has been made to address the issues raised.

GoCardless offers a convenient system that is relatively intuitive and easy to use for myself and my customers.
The reoccurring subscription payments and automatic retries have been very helpful to automate a lot of my business cash-flow.
The only reason this is not 5 starts is that I do find the system can be a little slow at times and my £100 reference has not been processed.

Ideal for startup’s! Making business easy!

Money hasn't been coming in on time and there's no communication

Go Cardless is great.

it takes a little while to get used to, but once you learn how it works and tailor it to how you like it, its perfect.

I use it to bill my dog daycare customers weekly, it costs me about £200 per month and that is very little compared to how much we turnover every month. It is well worth the money, I don't have to chase any payments or send invoices out anymore.

Al principio nos ha ido muy bien, hemos hecho nuestras remesas, recibido el dinero y nuestros clientes no han devuelto ningún recibo. El primer mes nos paralizaron la cuenta unos días y la pusieron en revisión, superando sin problemas su control y nos permitieron seguir operando sin problema. La sorpresa ha sido que en agosto no han llegado los ingresos y al meternos en la web, nos indican que la cuenta está registringida temporalmente y que nos han mandado un email desde riskreview@, email que nunca nos ha llegado.

Pusimos un ticket de incidencia el 13 de agosto con una respuesta entre 1 y 2 días. 10 días después seguimos sin respuesta por su parte.

Si no tuviéramos otras formas de ingreso, el daño que te hacen en la tesorería es importante. Y seguimos sin saber cómo una SL que cumple con la normativa española por obligación de nuestra actividad ( basada en la normativa europea), puede haber dudas suponemos con las leyes francesas que son idénticas a las españolas.

Y lo peor es que les da igual las veces que les escriba. Ellos tienen tu dinero y es tu problema. Probablemente, a no ser que haya una explicación a tanta dejadez y falta de comunicación por su parte, finalizaremos con ellos el servicio e interpondremos la correspondiente denuncia ante la ACPR, y que la Banque de France se encargue

Ich bin mit GoCardless insgesamt sehr zufrieden. Zu Beginn wurde mein Konto zunächst gesperrt, da noch einige persönliche Daten bzw. Nachweise benötigt wurden. Diese habe ich vollständig eingereicht, woraufhin mein Konto wieder freigeschaltet wurde.

Seitdem funktioniert alles sehr gut und zuverlässig. Die Abläufe entsprechen genau meinen Vorstellungen und ich bin mit der Nutzung insgesamt sehr zufrieden.

Gelegentlich werden einzelne Informationen noch auf Englisch angezeigt. Ich gehe jedoch davon aus, dass sich dies mit der Zeit ebenfalls verbessern bzw. klären wird.

Eine zusätzliche App für Smartphone würde ich persönlich sehr begrüßen. Dadurch könnte man noch einfacher und flexibler auf das Konto zugreifen, ohne jedes Mal den Browser nutzen zu müssen.

Abgesehen davon bin ich mit GoCardless sehr zufrieden. Die Funktionen und Abläufe funktionieren so, wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe.

Quite a strange company to deal with. I would advise using a different provider. All in my huble opinion of course. Not a trust worthy provider.

Après une semaine d'utilisation, je reçois un mail indiquant que mon compte est bloqué sans aucune raison, décision totalement arbitraire de leur part. Mes clients ont été prélevés mais évidemment je ne peux pas récupérer les fonds.
Pire, les clients devront faire des démarches auprès de leur banque pour récupérer leur argent. Inutile de dire que l'image de marque de mon entreprise en prend un sacré coup, moi qui voulait faciliter les règlements.
Par ailleurs, je ne suis absolument pas rassurée qu'une telle entreprise qui a de telles pratiques douteuses possède mes données bancaires ainsi que celles de mes clients ! À l'instar des banques traditionnelles, pourquoi ne pas avoir fait ce contrôle à l'ouverture du compte ? Fuyez GoCardless !!!

I am updating my review after receiving GoCardless’ final response to my formal complaint.

My account was closed shortly after opening, with only one £30 payment collected from a client. GoCardless confirmed that they still hold the funds, yet refused to refund them directly, instead instructing my client to contact their bank and initiate a chargeback. This places unnecessary burden on individuals who trusted their platform, especially when GoCardless already has the money.

Their explanation relied heavily on internal policy and “security reasons,” without addressing the fairness or transparency of the process. As a new humanitarian‑focused business, the experience felt dismissive and unsupported. The complaint response was formulaic and did not meaningfully engage with the concerns raised.

I am not escalating this today, but I am documenting it so other early‑stage founders understand how these situations are handled. Many people do not have the time or energy to challenge systems like this, which is why patterns like these continue.

This is a matter of principle. I hope GoCardless reflects on how their processes impact small organisations and individuals trying to build responsibly and ethically.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my experience with GoCardless needs to be shared so other small businesses and founders understand what can happen.

I opened a legitimate UK limited company (THEONEPROJECT LTD), completed all verification steps, and received full approval. My account was activated, payouts were enabled, and my first supporter signed up through Direct Debit. GoCardless even confirmed that everything was ready.

Four days later, without warning or explanation, my account was closed. No request for additional information. No clarity. No transparency. When I asked for a reason, I received a generic message stating they “cannot disclose specific details” and that the decision could not be appealed.

GoCardless had already collected my customer’s £30 payment before shutting down the account yet provided no information about the refund or how the customer would be reimbursed. For a regulated payment provider, this is unacceptable.

I understand compliance and fraud prevention, but the way this was handled shows a complete lack of consideration for early‑stage founders who rely on stability and trust. Being approved, charged, and then shut down without explanation is not just inconvenient. It is harmful.

If you are a new business trying to build from zero, be aware that GoCardless can approve your account, take your customer’s money, and close your account without telling you why. This experience caused unnecessary stress and undermined my confidence in their systems. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision.

Absolutely horrendous company.

We signed up to MyClubHub who use GoCardless to take payments. Local under 10 football team that relies on monthly subscriptions from parents. The team changed name and 3 weeks of providing bank accounts, letters, websites, social media, whatsapp chats etc to be told still not good enough. They currently ate withholding over £500 resulting in missed pitch let invoices.

Activation team only work in emails and get 1 response per day.

Refused refunds unless we revert back to old name and request although it was collected in the new name.

Shambles of a service and company

Go Cardless has transformed my business. It saves me hours invoicing and chasing payments. Highly recommended

I like the site and it definately works when it comes to collecting payments but I find making any changes un-intuative.

Signed me up for a direct debit without my permission. Keep asking me for more bank details to cancel the direct debits. Has all the hallmarks of a scam. Not getting anywhere with the customer support. Definitely avoid
