Abstract

본 발명은 (a) 리튬과 합금화가 가능한 (준)금속의 산화물로 된 제1 입자상; 및 (b) 상기 (준)금속과 동일한 (준)금속 및 리튬을 동시에 함유하는 산화물로 된 제2 입자상을 포함하는 것이 특징인 전극활물질, 및 이러한 전극활물질을 포함하는 이차전지에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 전극활물질은 음극활물질로 사용할 때, 전지의 초기 충방전 이전에 이미 상기 제2 입자상 내에 리튬이 함유되어 있기 때문에, 전지의 초기 충방전시 리튬산화물이나 리튬메탈산화물과 같은 비가역상이 덜 생성되며, 이로 인해 양극 쪽의 데드 볼륨(dead volume)이 최소화될 수 있어, 고용량의 전지가 제조될 수 있다.
