Abstract
La présente invention concerne un procédé d'électroextraction de zinc à partir d'une solution de sulfate de zinc obtenue par la lixiviation de zinc calciné, dans lequel on ajoute en continu un réactif sulfite à une solution de sulfate de zinc débarrassée de ses impuretés en vue d'obtenir une concentration de SO3-2 dans la solution comprise entre 300 et 1500 mg/l et on soumet la solution de sulfate de zinc à un processus d'électroextraction dans lequel le zinc est déposé sur la cathode et une partie de l'électrolyte usé est entraînée pour dissoudre de nouvelles quantités de calcinat. De l'acide sulfureux ou une solution aqueuse de son sel est utilisé en tant que réactif sulfite. On utilise de préférence une solution de bisulfite de sodium NaHSO3.
