- FR-2 696 110 and FR-2 203 680 are known, for example, for pipettes for taking liquid samples. These pipettes have an external tip in the lower part in which an internal piston slides. The movement of the piston produces the suction or expulsion of liquid in the nozzle. To this end, a seal is interposed between the end piece and the piston to provide a seal between them.

- the sampling pipette of the present embodiment of the invention comprises a pipette body 2 and a tip 4 fixed to the body 2.
- the pipette extends in a longitudinal direction with an axis 6.
- the body comprises the conventional parts of a sampling pipette, namely a handle for gripping in hand, an actuation button at the upper end of the body, a counter, means for adjusting the volume to be sampled, etc. These classic parts have not been illustrated. Thanks to a conventional mechanism integrated in the body, a downward action on the button causes the descent of a piston 8 of movable cylindrical shape to slide in the end piece 4 along the axis 6. The ascent of the piston takes place under the effect of a return spring.
- the pipette can be arranged so that the liquid ejection stroke from the piston is followed by a purge stroke.
- the end piece 4 has an upper part 4a and a lower part 4b in the form of two separate parts.
- the two upper 4a and lower 4b parts are arranged coaxially and define successive zones of the same internal conduit 18 in which the piston 6 is movable.
- the lower part 4b constitutes the lower end of the pipette. It is intended to receive a disposable sampling cone fixed by friction to the lower end of the pipette.
- the pipette has an ejector to subsequently separate the tip from the pipette.
- the upper part 4a is interposed longitudinally between the body 2 and the lower part 4b.
- the upper part 4a is fixed by its upper end to the body 2 by means of a border 10 projecting outwards from its edge. This edge is in axial abutment against a shoulder 12 of the body of complementary shape.
- the upper part cannot be removed from the body separately from other parts inside the body.
- When assembling the pipette it is threaded by its lower end into the end upper body, then pushed down to come out of its lower end. The other internal parts of the body are then installed, thus blocking part 4a.
- the upper part 4a has a flared shape upwards. It has near its lower end an internal shoulder 16.
- the shoulder 16 extends in radial projection in the duct 18. Below the shoulder 16, the upper part 4a has a female threaded area 20.
- the shoulder presents on the side thereof a flat face 22 perpendicular to the axis 6.
- the lower part 4b of the end piece has an upper end portion of diameter narrowed relative to the rest of this part. This portion has a male threaded portion 26 able to cooperate by screwing with the female thread 20 of the upper part 4a.
- the upper end of the lower part 4b is formed by a flat face 28 perpendicular to the axis 6 and intended to come into abutment against the face 22 of the other part 4a when the two parts are targeted one in the other, thus precisely defining their relative fixing position.
- This face 28 is started in its part contiguous to the conduit 18 by a shoulder 30 having a cylindrical face 32 of axis 6 facing the conduit 18 and a flat bottom face 34 perpendicular to the axis 6.
- the three faces 22, 32 and 34 form a housing of generally annular shape, opening radially towards the conduit 18 and receiving an O-ring seal 36.
- an annular groove 38 has a U-shaped profile, oriented upwards , is formed in the lower face 34 at a distance from its two edges circumferential. The width of this groove is much less than that of the face 34 and is here about half as wide.
- the piston 8 is movable by sliding while remaining at a distance from the faces 40 and 42 of the upper 4a and lower 4b parts of the end piece defining the conduit 18.
- the seal 36 is in abutment against the lateral cylindrical face of the piston. It is also in abutment against the faces 22 and 34 (but not the face 32) so that the cross section of the seal, circular when the seal is unloaded, is deformed. A portion of the seal extends into the groove 38. Thanks to the support of the faces 22 and 28 one on the other, the seal cannot be compressed excessively between the two end portions 4a, 4b. The seal ensures the seal between the piston and the tip with respect to the lower end of the pipette receiving the liquid to be sampled.
- the seal 36 provides a satisfactory seal between the end piece 4 and the piston 8.
- the cavity 38 forms a volume reserve for the seal.
- a large part of the seal is housed there. This part decreases as the joint ages.
- the seal pressure therefore remains essentially constant on the piston during the life of the seal and according to the tolerances of the seal. The same is true of the quality of the seal.
