UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
JOIIN I'I. KEATING, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR AN ABDOMINAL BELT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,123, dated January 31, 1899.
Application filed December 10,1898. Serial No. 698.930. Term of' patent 7 years.
To all whom it 11mg concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN II. HEATING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design or Useful Shape for Abdominal Belts, of which the following, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact specification.
In the said drawings, Figure l is a perspective view ofa belt embodying my design. Fig. E. isa transverse sectional View thereof, taken on the line 2 2, Fig. 3, but on an enlarged scale; and Fig. 3 is a front View with the belt open or straightened out.
The leading feature of my design consists of an abdominal belt having the oblong eencavo-convex plate A.
lVhen viewed from the front, the plate A appears like a separate or embossed plate upon the belt proper, B, and it is gradually widened on curved lines at top and bottom from both ends toward its Inid-length, the ends of the plate being straight or at substantially right angles to the length of the belt, and when viewed from the side the plate A appears concave-convex and on the outer side of the belt proper, B.
The belt proper, B, in the rear of the plate A is widened on lines parallel with the upper and lower edges of the plate A and is of slightlygreater width than the plate A, and extending along the upper and lower edges, respec tively, of the belt proper are ribs or hems C D, which are substantially equal in width to the distance which the belt proper projects beyond the upper and lower edges of the plate A, so that when viewed from the side, as in Fig. 2, the plate A will appear as seated between the upper and lower ribs orhems O I), which is another important feature of mydesign.
The plate A is surrounded by a marginal line of stitching a, and the belt proper, B, is likewise surrounded by a marginal line of stitching b.
In the plate A appear a number of perforations a', covering an area approximating in outline the outline of the plate A.
Having thus described myinvention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for an abdominal belt substantially as herein shown and described.
