To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Lnwis INGLEE, a vcitizen of the United States, residing at Amityville, in the county of Suffolk and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Car- Ticket Holders, of which the following is a specication.

rlhe present invention appertains to holders designed more particularly for receiving car tickets, although it may be utilized for slips, passes or the like of uniform size which it is of advantage to retain in a pile so that when required one may be removed at a time.

In its organization, the article comprises a case having an opening and a discharge slot and spring means arranged within the case for automatically moving the tickets or like articles to position for the discharge as the previous ticket is displaced.

Within the nature of the invention, it is to be understood that changes in the form, minor details of construction and arrangement of the'` parts may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention.

Referring to the drawings, forming a part of the specification z-Figure 1 is a perspective view of a ticket holder embodying the present invention. Fig. 2 is a central trans verse section thereof. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section of the ticket holder. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the spring device for automatically pressing the tickets into given position. Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of a modification. Fig. 6 is a sectional view of the modication.

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawing by the same reference characters.

The holder comprises a case which may be of any construction, form and design, depending upon the particular article to be placed therein. As shown, the case is rectangular in formation and is inclosed at its sides and provided at its top and bottom with an opening 1 to receive the thumb and finger of the hand when it is required to remove a ticket or like article from the case.

The body of the case is indicated by the reference numeral 2 and at one end the case is provided with a discharge slot 3 through which the tickets, slips, postage stam s and the like are withdrawn one at a time. lates 4 are arranged within the body of the case and constitute followers to support the pile of tickets 5 or like articles placed within the ease. A springvdevice is placed between the plates or followers 4 and is constructed so as to equalize the pressure throughout and upon both plates 4.

The spring device is shown most clearly in Fig. 4 and comprises similar members 6 each of H-form and secured, together at a middle point by means of rivets or like fastenings 7. The end portions of the longitudinal bars are upwardly deflected as indicated at 8 and the terminal portions are curved inward so as to prevent engagement of sharp corners with the plates 4 which would create undue wear. Each H member 6 is formed of spring metal of light gage so as to press the plates 4 apart and insure forcing the pile of tickets 5 outward against the inner walls of the top and bottom of the case so that the outermost tickets may be readily reached Vby the thumb or linger through the openings 1.

- An eye 9 is provided at one end of the case and a chain 10 or like device is attached to the eye and serves as means to prevent losing of the holder when carried about the person, it being understood that the connection 10 may be attached" to any part of the garment in any convenient way. The device may be conveniently carried in the pocket and when it is required to obtain a ticket, slip or the like, the thumb or nger is preferably moistened and placed upon the outer most ticket, slip or the like and moved toward the discharge slot 3, thereby carrying the ticket outward. Vhen the ticket is removed the next one in order is moved outward by the yielding device as will be readily understood.

In the modification shown in Figs. 5 and 6, an end of the case comprises complemental hinged members 11, the end portions of which are bent as indicated at 12 to embrace opposite sides of the body of the case, said bent ends being formed with depressions 13 adapted to engage over projections 14 so as to hold the sections 11 when closed. This construction enables the case to be readily charged or supplied with a pile of tickets, slips or postage stamps when filling the same.

From the foregoing description it will be understood that the invention provides a holder for car tickets and similar sundry articles involving a simple construction which will admit of a pile of tickets being conveniently carried and readily obtained one at a time when desired for use, the article being particularly advantageous for receiving car tickets and postage stamps as will be readily understood.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is

A ticket holder comprising a case having openings in opposite sides and terminal discharge slots leading from said openings, follower plates located within the case adapted to support a pile of tickets, a yielding device arranged between the follower plates and formed of two H-sliaped spring elements connected at a middle point and having the end portions of the longitudinal bars bent l I l i outwardly and curved inwardly arranged to engage with end portions of the follower plates and press the same upward, an end closing the case comprising similar members hingedly connected, each member having bent ends to embrace opposite sides of the case, and cooperating means for positively holding the members closed, the same consisting of complemental recesses and projections.
