To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOSEPH COLLINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Tarrytown, in the county of lVestchester and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ticket-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to a ticket holder, and more particularly to the class of ticket holders and ejectors.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character in which a plurality of tickets may be held and singly ejected therefrom so that the said tickets may be used in the ordinary wellknown manner.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a ticket holder of this character in which tickets when placed therein may be singly ejected therefrom in a quick and con so as to avoid the manual handling of the tickets in the ordinary wellknown manner.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a ticket holder which is simple in constructionfreliable and. efficient in its operation, and inexpensive in manufacture.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

In the drawing :-Figure 1 is a top plan view of the ticket holder constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a vertical, longitudinal, sectional. view through the same. Fig. 4 is an end elevation. Fig. 5 is a similar view looking toward the opposite end. Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the ticket ejecting device. Fig. 7 is a horizontal transverse sectional. view through the ticket holder.

Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.

Referring to the drawing by numerals the ticket holder comprises a hollow body 5, having opposite open ends, one of which is closed by means of a swinging end wall 6 formed with pint-1e receiving eyes 7 adapted to aline with similar pintle receiving eyes 8 formed on the bottom of the said body 5 and through these eyes is passed a pintle 9 hinging said end wall to the bottom of said body whereby it may be swung to open or closed position. The pintle 9 is formed with a nib 10 engaged by the free end of a leaf spring 1.1, which is suitably fixed at its opposite end to the inner face of the bottom of the body 5, the spring being designed to frictionally hold the end wall 6 in its open or closed position.

Fixed in the body 5 spaced from the opposite open end thereof is a vertical transversely disposed partition 12 which is of slightly less depth than the side walls of the body and serves to form independent compartments 13 and 14: respectively within the said body.

Arranged within the compartment 13 is a follower plate 15 the same being provided with instruck fingers 16 cut therefrom and adapted to engage the inturned end 17 of the resilient limbs of a spring yoke 19, the latter being interposed between the bottom of the body 5 and the said plate 15 and is engaged in fingers 20 instruck from the bottom of said body 5 so as to avoid the displacement of the spring when acting upon the follower plate 15 for the raising thereof.

The body 5 is provided with a top plate 21 formed with a central elongated opening 22 of a size to permit the introduction of the thumb or finger of an operator. Adapted to be superimposed upon the follower plate 15 between it and the top plate 21 are a series of tickets 23 which are adapted to be ejected singly from the body 5 in a manner presently described.

The follower plate 15 is provided at its rearmost end with laterally projecting lugs 24 which loosely engage in vertical slots 25 formed in the side walls of the body 5, and in this manner the said plate is prevented against longitudinal displacement within the compartment 13 during the ejecting of the tickets singly from the body of the holder.

Arranged within the compartment 14L is an ejecting device comprising a pusher frame 26 having an ejecting slide 27 projecting forwardly therefrom, so as to overlie the upper edge of the partition 12 into the path of the uppermost ticket 2?) of the series superimposed upon the follower plate 15, so that upon pressing inwardly upon the frame 26 the uppermost ticket of the series will be ejected from the body 5, the frame 26 being formed with an inturned bearing flange 28 which is adapted to rest upon the bottom of the body 5, while interposed between the partition 12 and the said frame 26 is a compression spring 29 which normally holds the said frame 26 in contact with the int-urned abutment tongues 30 on the side walls of the body 5 so as to limit the outward movement of the said ejecting frame. The bottom of the body 5 and the top plate 21 are formed with alining finger notches 31 which accommodate the finger or thumb when pressing inwardly upon the ejection device for ejecting single tickets from the holder.

The top plate 21 of the body 5 is formed with a finger notch 32 which permits the ticket when partially ejected from the holder to be grasped by the hand for removing it from the body 5, as will be clearly apparent. The swinging end wall 6 is of slightly less depth than the side walls of the body 5 so as not to interfere with the uppermost ticket when being ejected from the holder.

The spring yoke 19 will automatically feed the follower plate 15 upwardly within the body 5 during the successive ejecting of the tickets therefrom. It will be apparent that when it is not desired to actuate the ejecting device the tickets 23 can be successively ejected by the user of the holder forcing the thumb of one of his hands inwardly through the slot 22 and by a slight forward movement of the thumb the uppermost ticket of the series within the body 5 will be ejected therefrom.

When it is desired to fill the ticket holder it is only necessary to open the hinged end wall 6 and thereafter press downwardly upon the follower plate 15 and through the open end of the body 5 the series of tickets may be introduced therein between the follower plate 15 and the top plate 21 of the body. After the tickets have been inserted in this manner the end wall 6 is swung to closed position and thereafter the ticket holder is ready for further use.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it is thought the construction and operation of the invention will be clearly understood, and therefore, a more extended explanation has been omit-ted.

What is claimed is 1. A ticket holder comprising a hollow body having finger notches in opposite ends of its top and also having an intermediate l l l elongated slot in said top, a vertical partition arranged within the body and forming independent chambers therein, a follower plate arranged within one of said chambers and having a finger on its under face, a finger projecting from the inner face of the bottom of the body, a spring yoke engaging the lips on the bottom of the body and follower plate respectively and adapted to feed the latter in the direction of the elongated slot in the top of said body, an ejector slide arranged within the other chamber and having a right angular flange movable across the upper edge of the partition for engagement wit-h the uppermost ticket of a pack when placed within the body upon the fol lower plate whereby such ticket will be partially ejected from the body on actuating the ejector slide, and resilient means interposed between the partition and slide for sustaining the latter in normal position.

A ticket holder comprising a hollow body having finger notches in opposite ends of its top and also having an intermediate elongated slot in said top, a vertical partition arranged within the body and forming independent chambers therein, a follower plate arranged within one of said chambers and having a lip on its under face, a lip projecting from the inner face of the bottom of the body, a spring yoke engaging the lips on the bottom of the body and follower plate respectively and adapted to feed the latter in the direction of the elongated slot in the top of said body, an ejector slide arranged within the other clihmber and having a right angular flange movable across the upper edge of the partition for engagement with the uppermost ticket of a pack when placed within the body upon the follower plate whereby such ticket will be partially ejected from the body on actuating the ejector slide, resilient means interposed between the partition and slide for sustaining the latter in normal position, the said body being provided with vertical slots in its side walls, and lugs projecting laterally from the follower plate and engaged in the vertical slots for preventing the displacement of the follower plate within the body longitudinally thereof.
