CHARLES G-..MARSHALL, CF .FLORENCE, MASSACHUSETTS.
' Letters Patent o. 65,924, dated June 18,1861.
IMPROVED MODE or ronume EMMY-WHEELS.
TO ALL] WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, CHARLES G. MARSHALL, of Florence, Hampshire county, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented certain 'new and useful improvements in Emery-Wheels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof.
This invention consists of a new and improved combination of materials forming the wheel, whereby it is rendered more perfect in its operation. 1 v
The material from which my emery-wheel is formed consists of thefollowing ingredients, put together as I will now describe: Ordinary glue is dissolved in water", so as to make a. somewhat thick solution; with this is mixed the emery powder, and'also about an equal quantity of concrete lime. These are mixed into a eon Sistency'sufiicient to hold it together, and are then placed under dies formed of the proper shape and size to pfoduee the required wheel. These are placed under zi hummer, which, by its force, presses the meteriule into a solid form, ni :iking the emery-wheel. The lime forms a hard cement'with the glue around all the particles of emery, holding them together in a solid bed. p
9 By these means I obtei'nnn emery-wheel far superior to those ordinarily in use, in that it is much more solid, and being thoroughly mixed beForc being formed, themeteriuls composing it are equally solid at any pin-2,. pausing it to wear evenly. I l
It is not absolutely necessary to use the glue. in this composition, as the cement may be made to unsiver both purposes. I I i I New, ha ving described my invention, whntI cleim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,*is The use of concrete lime or, cement in the formation of emery-wheels, substantially as and for the purpose c. MARSHALL.
