To (All whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUY E. Cnawronn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Carmel, in the county of Wabash and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements inPortable Fireplaces, of which the "following is a specification.
This invention contemplates the provision of a portable fire place, which includes a bottom, top, side and end walls which are separably connected. so that the component parts can be easily and conveniently assembled or disassembled as the occasion may require.
In carrying out the invention I contem-- plate the provision of a knock down portable fire place wherein the various parts can be readily separated and arranged to occupy minimum of space when stored away, the entire structure when set up for use being held together by means of a single bolt connecting the opposed side walls, and also utilized to support one end of a baflie plate which is obliquely disposed with respect to the back wall or" the fire place.
Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a grate together with means for supporting a grate within the fire place in the manner whereby the grate can be easily positioned within the fire place for use or separated from said fire place when desired.
The nature and advantagesot the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying;drawings, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawings forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is agfront elevation of the fire place forming the subject matter of the present invention.

The side walls are identical in construction, one of these walls being clearly illustrated in l he upper and lower ends of each side wall is formed with spaced openings 13, the openings in the lower end oi? each side wall receiving the adjacent pair of pins 11 rising from the base,
while the openings in the upper end of each side wall receive the adjacent pins 14 which depend from the top 15 of the fire place; The rear wall or" the fire place is indicated at 16 and is fitted between the side walls 12 as clearly shown in Figure 2, and this rear wall is connected with the top15 by means of a pin 17 which rises from the rear wall and received by an opening in the top 15 as shown in Figure 3. Carried by each side wall 12 are spaced pins 18 which are an ranged adjacent the rear edge of each wall, and these pins are adapted to be received by openings formed in the adjacent ed es of the rear wall 16 as shown in Figure 2. In addition to the spaced pins 18, each side wall is provided with a pin 19 equidistantly spaced between the pins 18 and arranged in staggered relation thereto, so that when the side walls and back wall are associated the pin 19 will be arranged directly in advance of the back wall as shown in Figure 3, and used as a support for the inclined baifie plate 20. Now when the back and side walls are associated, the entire structure is held together, and suitably placed by means of a transverse rod 21 which connects the two side walls as shown in Figures 1 and 3, and this transverse rod constitutes a support for the other end of the inclined baffle plate 20. The plate bears against the rear wall 16 as shown in Figure 3, while the rod 21 passes through openings 22 formed in said side walls.
Carried by the back wall 16 adjacent the lower end thereof is a plurality of spaced pins 23, there being preferably three of these pins as shown in Figure 2, the pins constituting a support for the grate 241. This grate is formed with a vertical wall 25 the end bars of which are oiiset as at 26, and
these oiiset portions repose upon pins 27 projecting inwardly from the opposed side walls 12.
Carried by the top wall 15 is an angle iron bar, the horizontal branch 28 of which is embedded in said Wall, While the vertical branch 01" WllICll depends fromthe Wall in the manner illustrated in Figure 3. This angle iron 18 used as a deflector. Also embedded in the top Wall is asleeve 30 formed with an angular flange 31, the sleeve projecting a slight distance above the Wall and adapted to be associated with a chimney or the lilze indicated at 39. lilanitestly I have devised a fire place wherein the component parts can be readily and conveniently assembled or disassembled as the occasion may require, thereby making it convenient to carry said lire place to any part of the'building and conveniently and readily set it up for use in any particular room. The entire device can be made from any suitable mate rial and may also vary in size within the scope of the invention.
While it is believed that from the fore going description, the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to What is herein shown and described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall Within the scope of What is claimed.
What I claim is:
A portable fire place comprising a bottom, a top, side Walls and a back Wall, pins projecting from each of said Walls, and adapted to be received by openings formed in the adjacent Walls, whereby the structure can be entirely assembled or disassembled, a grate arranged Within the fire place and including vertically disposed bar having offset extremities, pins projecting inwardly from th opposed side Walls, at points immediately adjacent the back Wall and centrally of the side Wall, spaced upper and lower pins projecting inwardly from the said side Walls in advance of the last men- 'ioned pins and arranged in triangular relation With the latter, said lower pins constituting a support for the offset extremities of the grate bars and an inclined bevelled plate arranged above the grate and supported by the other of said pins.
