Be it known that I, RnBnooA GREENBERG, a citizen of the United States, and a'resident of the city of New York, borough of Bronx, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Quilt Cover, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to an improved fastening means for a quilt cover. An object of the invention is toprovide a simple and etficient means for-fastening a cover to a quilt so that the quilt and cover are permanently held in their proper relation.

Another object concerns the provision of a simple and efiicient fastening means which I can be very quickly and easily fastened and unfastened by the housewife.

The invention is illustrated in the drawings, of which Figure 1 is. a plan View with a portion broken away showing the cover and the quilt connected together Fig. 2 is a sectionon the line 22 of Fig. 1;

The form of the invention shown in the drawings is a preferred form, although it is understood that modifications in the construction and arrangement of the parts and in the character of the materials usedmay be adopted without departing from the spirit of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

In'its general aspect the invention comprises means for fastening a quilt and a cover therefor together in a simple and efiicient manner. In the use of quilts, especially babies quilts, it is sometimes desirable to provide them with a cover which preferably extends completely across one side of the quilt and partly over the other'side. In most cases the cover is held to the quilt by some sort of fastening means connecting the edges of the open side of the cover with a fastening element on the quilt.

My particular construction involves a number of loops fastened to the quilt, and a COVER.

The particular details of the construction are those which I have found by actual practice to be most efficient in the development of the idea.

v The preferred form of the invention includesa quilt 10 over which a cover 11 is disposed. This cover completely encloses the quilt on one side and extends partly over the other side of the quilt in the form of a narrow band 12, leaving an opening 13, through which the quilt can be observed in Fig. 1. Along the edge ofthe open portion of the cover I attach a plurality of straps 14 which are fastened to the edge of the band 12 in any suitable .manner. Each strap is preferably provided with a fastener element, as shown in the drawings, in the form of a buttonhole 15. The band 12 adjacent each strap 14 is provided ,with a cooperating. fastening element which is shown as being preferably a button 16. When the endof the strap 14, therefore, is bent back on itself to form a loop, the button 16 and the buttonhole 15 co-operate tohold the loop closed.

This loop of the strap 14 preferably passes through a metallic loop portion 17 on the quilt, there being one of the quilt loops fastened to the quilt adjacent each strap. Preferably the quilt loop is fastened to the quilt means of metal plates 18 provided with apertures 19 by means of which the plate can be sewed to the quilt. The plate is provided with struck-up ear portions 20 beneath which the shank of the metal loop 17 passes,'as shown in Fig. 3. I11 order to fasten the cover to the quilt, it is merely necessary to pass the .end of the strap through the metal loop 17 and then fasten the end of the strap back on the band 12 by means ofthe button and the buttonhole. Other fastening devices, of course, can be used having more than one buttonhole, and
