To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Josnrrr E. LEONARD, a citizen of the United States, residingat Cedar Rapids, in the. county of Linn and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tent-Stoves, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to new and useful improvements in tent stoves.

The object of the invention is to provide a stove of thischaracter comprising three essential parts-a grate, legs andv fire pot, so constructed and arranged that they may be readily knocked down and set up, and the fire pot made in sections having interlocking members, so that the sections may be separated and packed in a small package, together with the legs and grate. v

Another object of the invention is to provide a stove which is simple in construction and manner of setting up and knocking down, and having certain details of structure and combination of parts hereinafter more fully described.

In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a top plan view of my improved stove ready for use;

Fig. 3 is a side elevation of Fig. 1, showing the fire pot and grate partly in section as well as the manner of securing the sections of the fire pot together;

Fig. 4 is a plan view of one of the fire pot sections, showing the clamping ear in an extended position before being bent over to lock the sections against movement in respect to each other.

Referring'now to the drawings, 1 represents the grate which is preferably made of gray iron casting and of a circular form, although the material and shape could be varied without departing from my invention. The said grate is composed of a body portion 2. having any number of openings 3 therein of any desired shape, to allow of the free passage of air therethrough, and

equally spaced around the periphery there of are the outwardly extending radially arranged lugs 4, which, in conjunction with the casing, as hereinafter more fully described, form the air spaces 4'. The casing 12 forming the fire pot-of the stove is made of three sections 13, 14 and 15, and each section made of the shape shown in Fig. 4 of the drawings. These sections are preferably made of blue annealed steel and have upper and lower downwardly converging end walls 18 and 19, bent in an arc of a circle andsecured together form a tapering cylindrical fire pot having horizontal upper and lower edges, as clearly shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings.

Each fire pot section is provided with .a series of key-hole slots 20 adjacent one edge and adjacent the opposite edge lugs 21 adapted to cooperate with the keyhole slot of the abutting section, as shown in F ig..3 of'the drawings.

The lower curved edge 17 of each section is provided with the cut- away portions 22 and 23, and the cut-awayportion 22 of one section and the cut-away p0rtion'2S of the other section form a notch 24 in the lower edge of the fire pot of a width to receive the lateral extension 7 of the'leg, whereby the fire pot is held against oscillation in respect to the grate. The fire pot rests upon the legs below-the upper face of the grateand the lugs 4 and 5 carried by the grate will center the fire pot thereon. The fire pot can not possibly slip from around thegrate in any direction, asclearly shown in the drawings.

Having thus described my invention, what 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: r

1. A stove of the character described, comprising a grate, legs supporting the grate and extending beyond the periphery thereof, and a fire pot loosely resting uponthe legs and surrounding the grate and held against lateral movement by the grate.

2. A stove of the character described, comprising grate, legs supporting the same and a fire pot loosely supported by the legs and surrounding the grate and having notches for receiving the legs and said firepot held against lateral movement by the grate.

3. A "stove of the character described comprising a grate, legs removably secured to the lower face of the grate, and a fire pot surrounding the grate and held against horizontal movement by the grate.

4. A stove of the character described comprising a grate, legs removably secured to the lower face of the grate, and a fire pot formed of a series of sections removably connected together and loosely resting on the legs surrounding the grate and held against horizontal movement by the grate.

5. A stove of the character described comprising a grate, legs removably secured to the lower face of the grate, and a fire pot formed of a series of sections removably secured together and having notches to receive the legs and" loosely resting thereon below the lower face of the grate and held against horizontal movement by the grate.

6. A .stove of the character described comprising a grate having outwardly ex- "tending lugs on its periphery provided with recesses in their lower faces, legs having lateral extensions secured 1n said recesses, a

7. A stove of the character described comprising a grate, legs removably secured to the lower face of the grate, and a fire pot formed of a series of sections having keyhole slot connections securing them together against outward movement, and lugs carried by one edge of each section and overlapping the abutting sections to prevent lateral'movement and said fire pot resting upon the le s below the lower face of the grate.

8. A stove of the character described comprising a grate, legs removably secured face of the grate and extending a horizontal direction and then downwardly in an oblique direction, a fire pot formed of sections having curved upper and lower edges and converging end walls adapted to be locked together by key-hole slot connections to form a tapering cylindrical fire pot having notches in its lower edge adapted to receive the lateral extension of the legs and support the same in a position surrounding the fire pot whereby the same is held against horizontal movement in respect to the grate.

9. A stove of the character described com arisin a rate havin outwardl exb O t) l tending lugs on its periphery, said lugs having recesses in their lower faces, legs having lateral extensions bolted'in said recesses, a fire pot formed of a series of sections, each section having a series of headed studs carried by one edge and key-hole slots carried by the opposite edge and adapted to interlock to form a tapering cylindrical fire pot, a lug carried by the upper edge of each section and adapted to be bent over the upper edge of the adjoining section to hold the same against longitudinal movement in respect to each other, and the lower edges of each section having notches to form a recess to receive the lateral extension of the legs, whereby the fire pot is supported on th'e'lateral extension of the legs against oscillation and alseagainst horizontal movement by engagement with the grate.
