STREET-CAR-TICKET HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALEXANDER MoCUL- LOCI-I, of the city of Edmonton, in the Province of Alberta, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Street-CarTicket Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in street car ticket holders, and the objects of my invention are to provide a simple and effective device for containing tickets, from which they may be readily withdrawn one by one.

Further objects are to prevent marking or scratching of the ticket by the ejecting mechanism during its return movement.

In one form of the invention the container is provided with a hinged cover 011 which the ejector is mounted, said ejector being formed with inclined edges having teeth thereon and springs in the container adapted to force the tickets against the ejector.

In the alternative form of the invention, separate ejectors are provided on opposite sides: these and other features of the invention being more fully set fort-h and described in the accompanying specification and drawings.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective View of the invention with the cover open. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section through the same with the cover closed. Fig. 3 is a cross-section through the device in closed position. Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section through an alternative form of the invention. Fig. 5 is a transverse section through the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 4.

In the drawings like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.

Referring first to the embodiment illustrated in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, A represents the container, of substantially the same length and width as the tickets, in which they are adapted to lie flat. The container is provided with a hinged cover B, and the end 10 of the container is of slightly less height than the end 11, whereby, the tickets may be ejected through the space provided between the end 10 and the cover. C represents the ejector which is mounted on the cover, said ejector being adapted to reciprocate in parallel slots 12 and 13 formed in the cover, and being retained in said slots by projecting straps 14 and 15 extending Specification of Letters Patent.

locking member 25 is provided in the form of a strap hinged to one side of the container at the end thereof and adapted to be swung into position encircling the cover and container, the strap being adapted to hold the end of the cover down so closely to the end of the side 10 that it will be impossible to slide a ticket out without swinging the strap outwardly. The cover is held at the opposite end by means of a spring catch 19. It will be noted that the end of the cover 12 adjacent the loop 25 is cut away at one side thereof as at 26 to permit said end being forced downwardly between the sides of the container.

In the form shown in Figs. 4 and5, two ejectors O and O are provided mounted on opposite sides, whereby, the tickets may be separately removed from opposite sides, and thus may be made to contain two different lands of tickets. In this case, provision must be made at both sides of the container for the ejection of tickets. The springs F in this form of the invention, are similar to those in the embodiment of the invention first described, and in general the other elements of the structure are the same.

In operation: when it is desired to eject a ticket, the strap is first swung outwardly, and then on sliding of the ejector toward the end 10, a ticket will be partially ejected and may be withdrawn by the user. On the reverse reciprocation, no movement of the tickets will take place. Any possibility of sliding of the tickets on the reverse movement of the ejector is guarded against by means of a flange 26 provided on the end of the cover and adapted to fit over the side 11 on the container.

lVhat I claim as my invention is:

l. A holder for street car tickets compris ing in combination a container having one end wall of slightly greater height than the opposite end wall, a cover having one end normally lying in a plane slightly above the upper edge of said shorter end wall, whereby an opening is formed therebetween for the removal of tickets, and a locking mem' ber adapted to encircle the container and cover and force one end of said cover to close said space.

2. A holder for street car tickets comprising in combination a container having side and end walls and a bottom Wall, a hinged cover normally lying when closed in a plane slightly above one of said end walls forming an opening therebetween, an ejector adapted to eject tickets through said opening, and a locking member encircling said container and said hinged cover forcing the latter to close said opening to prevent the withdrawal of tickets.
