DONDE EL PROCEDIMIENTO COMPRENDE: a) TRANSFORMACION DE LAS MENAS O CONCENTRADOS DE MENAS, MEDIANTE REACCION EN ATMOSFERA INERTE CON AZUFRE DE 300°C A 600°C DURANTE UN TIEMPO ENTRE 5 MINUTOS Y 24 HORAS; b) MOLIENDA DEL PRODUCTO DE REACCION; c) SEPARACION FISICA AL MENOS PARCIAL DE LOS SULFUROS QUE CONTIENEN COBRE OBTENIDOS DE LOS SULFUROS DE HIERRO, MEDIANTE PROCEDIMIENTOS ELECTROSTATICOS, GRAVIMETRICOS O MAGNETICOS, SEPARACION POR AIRE, SELECCION DE TAMANOS DE PARTICULA, Y PROCEDIMIENTOS CON HIDROCICLON O DE FLOTACION; Y, d) TRATAMIENTO DE LOS SULFUROS QUE CONTIENEN COBRE SEPARADOS, MEDIANTE PROCEDIMIENTOS PIROMETALURGICOS O HIDROMETALURGICOS PARA OBTENER COBRE. (a) ES CONTINUA, EN UN SISTEMA DE TRES CAMARAS, Y SE LLEVA A CABO EN UN HORNO ROTATIVO TUBULAR O REACTOR DE LECHO FLUIDIZADO. (b) SE REALIZA AL MENOS PARCIALMENTE EN EL HORNO ROTATIVO TUBULAR O REACTOR DE LECHO FLUIDIZADO IN SITU MEDIANTE INCORPORACION DE BOLAS DE MOLIENDA. EL AZUFRE SE ANADE ESTEQUIOMETRICAMENTE, SEMIESTEQUIOMETRICAMENTE O CATALITICAMENTE. DURANTE (a) SE REALIZA UN ENRIQUECIMIENTO DE METALES PRECIOSOS EN LA FASE DE SULFURO DE COBRE. LAS MENAS O CONCENTRADOS DE MENAS SE SELECCIONAN DE CALCOPIRITA (CuFeS2), BORNITA (Cu5FeS4), CUBANITA (CuFeS4), CALCOSINA (Cu2S), DIGENITA (Cu9S5) Y/O COVELINA (CuS). LOS SULFUROS DE HIERRO SON PIRITA O PIRROTINA
