Abstract
1418701 Acylated derivatives of substituted piperazines CIBA-GEIGY AG 27 April 1973 [1 May 1972] 20032/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of the formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are the same or different and each is a C 1 to C 12 alkyl group or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> together with the carbon to which they are bound form a monocyclic C 5 to C 12 ring system; n is 1 or 2 and when n is I, R<SP>3</SP> is C 1 to C 24 alkyl group, a phenyl group, or a group -NHR<SP>4</SP> in which R<SP>4</SP> is a C 1 to C 24 alkyl group or a phenyl group; when n is 2, R<SP>3</SP> is a C 1 to C 10 alkylene group, a carbon to carbon bond, a phenylene group or a group -NHR<SP>5</SP>NH- in which R<SP>5</SP> is a C 1 to C 10 alkylene group, a phenylene or C 1 to C 5 alkyl substituted phenylene group are disclosed. The compounds of Formula I when n is 1, R<SP>3</SP> is an alkyl or phenyl group and, when n is 2, R<SP>3</SP> is an alkylene group, a carbon to carbon bond or a phenylene group may be prepared by reacting a compound of the formula with R<SP>3</SP>(COCl)n or R<SP>3</SP>(COOR<SP>6</SP>)n in which R<SP>6</SP> is a C 1 to C 4 alkyl group. Compounds of Formula I in which n is 1, R<SP>3</SP> has the formula -NHR<SP>4</SP>, in which R<SP>4</SP> is as previously defined and when n is 2, R<SP>3</SP> has the formula -NH-R<SP>5</SP>-NH- may be prepared by reacting a compound of Formula II with a compound of the formula R<SP>4</SP>NCO or formula R<SP>5</SP>(NCO) 2 . The compounds may be used in synthetic organic polymers to stabilize them from deterioration by ultraviolet light.
