Abstract

1309431 Detergent enzyme granules UNILEVER Ltd 18 March 1970 [21 March 1969] 13010/70 Heading C5D A detergent composition comprising proteolytic enzyme granules with improved storage stability contains granules comprising a neutral or alkaline granular carrier material (A), a proteolytic enzyme, and an acidic substance (B)-containing-layer. The granules may have a further coating layer (D) preferably containing the acidic substance (B). Preferably the acidic substance is dissolved or dispersed in a gluing agent (C), the granular material is treated with this mix and subsequently the enzyme powder is affixed to the so-formed granules. Suitable granular materials (A) are alkali metal phosphates, e.g. pentasodium triphosphate, sodium or potassium sulphate or mixtures thereof; starch and starch derivatives. The acidic substance (B) is any detergent-compatible organic or inorganic substance having an acid pH especially pH 4 to 6 in a 1% aqueous solution, e.g. citric, benzoic or adipic acids; boric and phosphoric acid; and acid salts such as sodium or potassium acid phosphate or acid pyrophosphate. The gluing agent (C) may be a non- ionic surfactant, e.g. C 8 -C 18 alkyl phenol condensed with 8-15 moles of ethylene oxide, a fatty alcohol a fatty acid an ester of a fatty acid a wax paraffin carboxymethyl-cellulose, a fat or an oil. The coating agent (D) may be polyvinyl alcohol shellac, or a wax. The detergent composition may contain 0À5 to 15% wt. of the granules, 2 to 10% by wt. of an anionic detergent, 1 to 10% of a non-ionic surfactant 1 to 10% wt. of an alkali metal soap, 20-50% of a condensed phosphate with or without an organic builder and conventional builder salts and detergent additives, e.g. sodium perborate.
