Abstract

Un proceso para producir un pigmento de dióxido de titanio que comprende los pasos de: a) hacer reaccionar un tetracloruro de titanio en fase vapor con haluro de aluminio y un gas que contiene oxígeno en un reactor a una temperatura dentro del intervalo de 900 C a 1600 C para proporcionar una suspensión gaseosa que comprende partículas de TiO2; b) poner en contacto la suspensión gaseosa con al menos dos precursores de óxido, donde el primer precursor de óxido es un haluro de silicio y el segundo precursor de óxido está seleccionado a partir del grupo que consiste en precursores de óxido de boro, fósforo, magnesio, niobio, germanio y una mezcla de los mismos; y c) enfriar la suspensión gaseosa para proporcionar un pigmento que comprende partículas de TiO2 quetienen un revestimiento que comprende sílice y un segundo óxido, donde el segundo óxido está seleccionado a partir del grupo que consiste en óxidos de boro, fósforo, magnesio, niobio, germanio y mezclas de los mismos.
