Harry Chapman liked thisHarry Chapman liked thisWarning: career highlight and humble brag post incoming 😉 I never thought I’d be the one sitting across the table interviewing people, let alone one of New Zealand’s top podcasters. And, as it turns out, it’s not nearly as easy as she makes it look (there is a reason she wins awards). It was such fun switching seats with Frances Cook for the latest episode of It All Starts Here, the podcast series realestate.co.nz created to celebrate our 30th birthday. Frances grew up in an epic childhood bedroom with pastel walls and unicorns, and always treasured the stability of home. She also knew she wanted to help New Zealanders make better financial decisions. So, six weeks postpartum, she took the biggest risk of her career and turned her spare room into a podcast studio 🎙️ Two years later, that spare-room idea is now the award-winning podcast and successful media platform Making Cents, which I’ve been lucky enough to be part of since the start. I love our time together, talking all things property 🏠 Frances also has an interesting perspective on home: it’s an asset, but not necessarily an investment. We always have such insightful conversations about property, money and the decisions we make around both, so it was pretty special to swap seats for once. Thank you for sharing your story, Frances. And I’m actually excited about it. 💙 I’ve always believed in the importance of taking a proper break, but this one has been a great reminder of just how valuable it is to truly switch off. Clear your mind. For the past month, I’ve travelled, celebrated a milestone birthday, spent uninterrupted time with my husband, explored new places, eaten exceptionally well, and given myself permission to completely disconnect from work. And now I feel refreshed, relaxed and ready to go. I think there’s something pretty special about being able to take a break from a job you love, and then genuinely look forward to coming back. You can only do that with an awesome team behind you. Thank you to Sarah Wood, Emma Peron, Nathan Langsford, Rachel Leadbetter, Hannah Franklin, Jess Sakey and Miranda Lee for holding down the fort while I was away. I’m heading in today with a full cup, a fresh perspective and plenty of energy as we roll into the busiest time of the year. Rest isn’t the opposite of ambition. Sometimes it’s exactly what fuels it. Harry Chapman liked thisHarry Chapman liked thisWe've added another painted mural to the 2degrees collection thanks to Shout Media, OMD New Zealand, Sylvia Pitto and the talented Jonny 4Higher 💙🎨 I first came across hand-painted outdoor advertising on a trip to New York years ago and loved how perfectly it blended with the character of neighbourhoods like Williamsburg. Thrilled that we've been able to bring some of that same creative magic to Auckland through our Prepay and Turning Blue murals.
