My experience with voya has been mixed…
My experience with voya has been mixed on one hand this company compared to other companies like them allows participants to have two loans out at a time and you can still contribute to your account while paying off your loan. The other hand is when you call customer service it's 50/50 if you leave with a positive experience. And when you are done with the call a survey is supposed to come in but that's not always the case. I recently wanted to take a loan after paying off a loan .it took two weeks for the check to get processed and afterwards a extra 8 days for check clearance? I sent a email to k.kriegle a vp at voya financial he was out of office but I was called in the morning just to say she couldn't help expedite. My money to my account?
Voya is the company used to administer…
Voya is the company used to administer my flexible spending account. In early June I deposited a reimbursement check from them. Less than a week later the check was returned, affecting other transactions in my account. I received no notification from Voya until I called the customer service line. It turns out all checks deposited that day were returned due to “a glitch” in their system. It is now late July and I have yet to receive the payment after five calls to the line. The last representative rudely told me I would have to wait through their process. Voya is a huge company that handles billions in customers money. There is no excuse for this.

I’d honestly give minus stars if I could. Horrible company, horrible customer service and no manager to speak with. The customer representatives try to dance around answering questions. I was told I could speak with the “escalation” team but the customer service rep did all she could to try and deter me from speaking with them. She even came back on the line and repeated her statement regarding their policy and tried to again deter me. Unfortunately the “escalation” was no better. I will NEVER signed up for 401k with this company again.
Absolute worst 401K company
Absolute worst 401K company. The fact that ADP switched to work with this company is the worst decision they’ve ever done. If I could give 0 stars I would.
HORRIBLE customer service
HORRIBLE customer service, slow response (even on an escalation), ridiculous 401K withdrawl rules that make it IMPOSSIBLE to get to your money even when it is a valid and documented request.
Be advised
Voya is a site that should be ignored, every dime I put in would’ve gone into thin air if Proxen~~Binders hadn’t helped. Be advised
This company is ridiculous
This company is ridiculous. After requesting a withdrawal, and faxed all of my docs, they have come up with a million excuses of what I did not include. I ended up faxing them like 4 times, with different excuse every time of what I did not include. when I called and spoke with someone again, another excuse. I am so done with them. I am going to report them to the BBB.
The Worst !
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Voya Financial has been incredibly frustrating.
I requested a hardship withdrawal to prevent an eviction after receiving a 10-day notice from my landlord on June 29. This was my retirement money—money that I earned and contributed—and it should not have been this difficult to access during a legitimate financial emergency.
Every time I submitted the requested documentation, I was given a different reason for denial. First, I was told my documents didn't meet the IRS hardship requirements. Then I was told the document looked like it could have been altered. After fixing that, I was told it had to be on official letterhead with a signature or be certified.
Why weren't all of these requirements provided upfront? Instead, I lost valuable time correcting one issue after another while facing an eviction deadline.
To make matters worse, one of Voya's supervisors specifically told me to request an extension from my landlord because my hardship request was still being reviewed. I followed that advice and obtained the extension, yet my request was still denied anyway.
The lack of consistency, poor communication, and constantly changing requirements made an already stressful situation even worse. When people are facing emergencies, they deserve clear answers and fair treatment—not a moving target.
No one expects the process to be effortless, but it also shouldn't feel impossible to access your own retirement savings when you're experiencing a qualifying hardship. I hope Voya seriously reviews how it handles hardship withdrawals so others don't have to go through what I did.
After months of providing discharge…
After months of providing discharge summaries for 3 hospitalizations I’m still waiting on a resolution for my claims. Half the customer service reps live out of the usa. 2 I spoke with had roosters crowing within ear shot.

My experience with Bla•Ke Spec•Trum was smooth and reassuring. Their communication was clear, timely, and professional.
You have to verify 13 times before…
You have to verify 13 times before getting connected to someone. Then you verify two more times for them to not even know how to answer a simple question like can I use my HSA/FSA card at any store for meds or just certain stores. I’ve been on hold almost 5 min. Evidently nobody knows. SMH. So sad.
I opted out of this when I was hired…
I opted out of this when I was hired and was signed in without my approval. Voya withdrew money from my pay without permission and will not return it. This is not a safe company to do business with.
The company’s handling of my account…
The company’s handling of my account was deeply troubling. Access was halted without advance notice, and every attempt to obtain clarification through their system produced no acknowledgement whatsoever. No representative issued a message, no explanation was offered, and no effort was made to address the disruption. The absence of procedural clarity or basic professional engagement rendered the situation untenable. My experience (aegis—recourse) was the complete opposite. Their personnel demonstrated exceptional discipline, swift organisation, and a consistently respectful manner. They outlined the reimbursement steps with unmistakable precision, maintained dependable communication, and ensured I understood each phase of the process. Their steady coordination and thoughtful approach resulted in a full and properly finalised repayment. The entire interaction reflected a level of competence and care that sharply contrasts with the earlier shortcomings.
The worst financial firm ever
The worst financial firm ever. They have the worst customer service and the most dubious financial assesoring. No one agent will give you the same response. The "mistakes" they make seem ilogical. They asked for the dame document over 20 times. There is no manager or supervisors. Their sgents are operatung blindly.
A sickening feeling of dread hit me
A sickening feeling of dread hit me. I met someone on Instagram who promised to teach me DeFi node operation. The scammer even sent me 5.15 ADA with which I registered and deposited into this website, showed me how to trade, and I made some profit and even withdrew 14.29 ADA. The scammer then advised that I invest more so I can get greater rewards. So I took out a business loan for $716,267 and deposited it, followed all the instructions and was able to take my balance to $2,730,105. I was so excited, so I decided to withdraw $2,188,870, but was told the amount is too large, I would need to pay a 15% network validation fee ($328,330). I quickly took another loan and paid it since I was sure withdrawal was possible because I had withdrawn in the past. Then they demanded another 19% risk control deposit, which was when it dawned on me that it was a con. I explained to my credit provider, and he referred me to a cyber tracing company (fiscop advisor), who started tracing the movements of the ADA until it was sold on Coinbase. The scammers' bank info was obtained, and he was caught, and the ADA reversed.
Horrible incompetent customer service
Horrible incompetent customer service. They send you a letter stating they sent you documentation which is not in the mailing. They are difficult to reach. you get misinformation, failure to update personal information; 9 months later the info and spelling of my name is still incorrect, direct deposit still hasn't gone through. It takes forever to get a document and then they send the wrong paper or not at all. I would not recommend this company and am trying to find a way to move my funds to a different company. Avoid this company like the plague. A year's worth of aggravation.
Nonexistent customer resolution
I have contacted Voya six times to answer 2 simple questions regarding their own forms and process. The 2 reps I've gotten on the phone did not know the answers, had no one to forward the questions to, and could not find the form I was asking about. Dead ends. I contacted by email 4 times, and each time the response is to call. Circular and profoundly unhelpful. Worst 'customer service' (functionally nonexistent) I've yet to experience in a financial institution.
Request for expedited loan on 5.20.26…
Request for expedited loan on 5.20.26 and removed immediately from fund account. On this day 5/29/26 no funds received, package lost and was told the process must start again. Supervisor not returning calls, calls are dropped (hungup), and No One Gives a Damn!!
Worst company I’ve ever dealt with
Worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Customer service is terrible and they make it impossible to do anything. Never again.
Information Sharing Opt-Out
Requiring customers to call to restrict information sharing rather than providing an opt-out online is just a tactic to stop people from doing it. This is especially frustrating when the only reason I am a "customer" of Voya is that my 403(b) plan switched servicers.
