Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 104 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported significant dissatisfaction with the service and customer support, often finding it difficult to get assistance or reach a human. Reviewers frequently experienced long delays for repairs, repeated rescheduling, and poor communication. Product issues were also highlighted, including cars breaking down shortly after purchase, persistent critical errors, and components not designed to last. However, some customers also noted positive interactions with staff members, describing them as professional, knowledgeable, and helpful during repairs or purchases. A few other people also felt that the cars themselves drive well and appreciated features like remote service, Superchargers, and home battery performance.

I ordered a Tesla in June that was…

I ordered a Tesla in June that was estimated to be ready by September, according to their web site. Within 60 seconds of placing the order someone called me asking could I pick a new car up that day, over 120 miles away from where I live - not to mention getting the deposit, insurance, car charger installed, tax etc, which obviously I wasn't ready for. Also, I am not prepared to travel over 120 miles to pickup a car when there are much closer options. I have requested numerous times a call from Tesla to discuss, in three weeks I had 1 call from them which I missed and they didn't leave a number or call back despite multiple requests.
I've no idea on the quality of the cars, I didn't get that far. Tesla are a faceless organisation that don't want to talk to anyone. If you are looking for a proper car buying experience I'd go elsewhere.

I was given a 1:00 appointment at Tesla Mount Kisco New York. Told car would be done by 3:00. As you can tell they did not keep their word since I am writing this review from Tesla Mount Kiscos service area. Not only did they fail to keep the time they also refuse a loaner refuse to say when the car will be ready while I look at four workers joking around with each other doing no work while I sit here at 4:16 waiting for my car. Avoid buying a Tesla at all costs
They are no longer the only game in town so you don't have to be treated poorly by condescending workers at an arrogant company

Bad customer service and lack of accountability

We started the process of purchasing at Sherway gardens, Toronti, we had a car for trade in and would have rolled over negative equity. We were informed that the bank will be able to roll over the negative equity. The issue was there was no accountability, sales person kept misleading information, for every single query we had to pay multiple visits to the store. Insensitive staff. However finally when the delivery date came near and our anxiety kept creeping, we were informed that the negative equity will not be rolled, we since then requested a refund (as we were told). It’s been over 25 days no response. There’s no accountability, lack of communication, the over all experience is very bad. We were constantly kept in the dark, we were open to not purchase a car but were were told that the negative equity will be rolled over, and if it doesn’t our money will be refunded.
I feel the entire process and dubious.
If Tesla doesn’t look into such issues, soon they will be losing the customer base.
In my experience other than the customer experience in the entire process is poor and could be improved, but they have built some great reliable cars.

Sentry Mode Failed When I Needed It Most

bought a Tesla Model 3 and have Sentry Mode and 24/7 camera recording enabled. On two separate occasions, someone struck my glass roof with a hard object. Despite this, the car neither recorded the incidents nor triggered the alarm. Ironically, the alarm goes off when a car simply drives past, yet it completely fails when an actual attack occurs.

This vehicle is not delivering the performance Tesla promises. The customer service representatives seem completely uninformed and only provide generic, meaningless responses instead of addressing the real issue, wasting customers’ time.

As soon as I can, I will get rid of this car. I will never buy another Tesla again, and I will not recommend Tesla to anyone.

Terrible customer service

I am sure teslas are great cars if you ever actually get one. We ordered one at the end of March. So far the delivery has been rescheduled twice, eventually to November 2026. Our last car was stolen so we really need a car a bit sooner! When my husband asked about getting one sooner he was told to look at what was coming up for sale. Eventually found one, more expensive but we are desperate. He paid the £200 to reserve and then was told he had to collect at 3.30pm from Brent Cross 2 days later. We live in Birmingham. He rang and messaged Tesla several times only to be told that he could not reschedule to the next weekend. Who can drop work at 2 days notice? Ridiculous! He did question how they can put his delivery back 5 months and they can’t put collection back 4 days. Eventually asked to cancel the order, but the original one is also now cancelled so no Tesla! They are still holding the money and still haven’t confirmed that the finance is cancelled. Genuinely the worst customer service ever and absolute cowboys. Every time you speak to someone it’s a different call centre so no-one takes accountability. Do not order from Tesla, it’s a huge company and feels like a scam!

Disastrous wait time

Disastrous wait time – parts are "blacklisted" and Tesla provides no answers
Review:
I highly discourage getting your car repaired at a Tesla-approved Body Shop. My shop ordered parts for my car nearly two months ago, and the status was marked as "blacklisted" – meaning they aren't even ready yet.
Both the shop and I have contacted Tesla directly (I messaged them through my service app), but neither of us can get a proper answer. Every single time, Tesla gives the same response: they don't have the parts and still cannot say when they will be able to ship them. It is completely unacceptable to be left stranded for two months without a car because Tesla's logistics and customer service are a total mess. Terrible service – 1 star

Terrible service experience - I went to the Tesla Service at 999…

I went to the Tesla Service at 999 Upper Wentworth St in Hamilton regarding a factory molding defect (a large blob of rubber right in the tread groove) on an OEM tire that came with my vehicle when purchased, which i found out later when swapping my winter tires, as who checks for blob of rubbers in the grooves when purchasing a vehicle.
I went here first, and they just routed me to Pirelli saying they have nothing to do with tires even on new cars. One visit wasted. Next when I spoke to Pirelli it was clearly mentioned that Pirelli takes claims only through dealerships, not from a direct customer. This dumb Tesla team doesn't even know their own vendor's complaint protocols.
Ok so now I escalated hoping someone intelligent would address this issue. So my wife and I booked an appointment with Edwin the Assistant Manager. And then we explained what happened.
Instead of helping, Edwin was extremely rude and ignored my wife when she was talking as if he only talks to men. He offered no help, and said he inspects his car and tires everyday and said since we found it late we probably got it impaled. What kind of attitude is this.
It is not a matter of a $400 expense. When I bought a 65k car I expect basic service and etiquette. They didn't even answer whether to throw this tire out, repair it, or claim it under warranty. That discussion basically ended with them being rude and blaming us for doing this blob thing. Like we are so free that we will waste two visits and a Pirelli call if it was our fault. Omg! Unbelievable.
He said he will have the regional manager reply, but no one cared to reply, and he basically showed us the door.
I am still stuck on my winter tires because of this tag game.
No wonder this dealership has such low ratings. They sell cars, but don't care about giving any service. The service team is not qualified and I really hope they get fired soon!
They are completely unqualified to handle standard procedures and have zero concept of basic human decency or customer respect.

Never again

I'm 52 and bought many cars. This has been by some distance my worst experience.

It's impossible to overstate how inept Tesla customer service is. When there is a problem - of which there were many during my 6 month journey of trying to buy this vehicle, they make it literally impossible to communicate with them in any way.

If by some miracle you manage to get someone to communicate with you - they are guaranteed to be dismissive and tell you the complete opposite of what the last person told you.

I could give several examples of how miserable they have made this process but to take one- the website says the trade in value will be credited against my finance amount so is what I originally expected. As the finance docs were for full value of car I then queried this on the app, which was ignored. Two weeks later I called customer service and after a long queue they said no, 'Tesla don't do that anymore' so I finance the whole car and the delivery team would arrange a cash payment for my old car. Fine.

Then I finally get an app reply two weeks, which said something slightly different i.e. that within 4 days of dropping off my trade in vehicle at collection the app would invite bank details from me to make the payment for the trade in vehicle. It's been a week and that hasn't happened.

I have tried to call to clarify but after an hour of queueing had to give up. The conversations on the app messaging service all closed by Tesla so can't contact them that way, and the live chat link on the website support page doesn't work either.

So at this moment I have no way of knowing when my first payment will come out, how much it will be for, whether or not to expect cash or finance offset for my c. £20K trade in value and therefore whether I've even borrowed £50k or £30k. And with no way to communicate with them to resolve this.

I don't care if the next car has wings and they offer it to me free, I am NEVER doing this again.

TESLA delivery is substandard. Very disappointed

I have been waiting for my Tesla for 19 weeks as I ordered it to be made.
However, my leasing company Tusker has already released all the paperwork end of May. And I know from Tesla that my car is now at the Bristol collection center for the past 2 weeks but noone can change the home delivery to collection very fast. I confirmed on Friday 19 of June that I can collect the car on June 19, 20 and 21. After that it will have to be home delivery as I work from home and no-one can drop me off to go collect it, as I specified to the
Tesla agent over the phone.
Love the Tesla app. Being sarcastic here. They just open the App for me tonight, to arrange a collection from Monday 22 of June onwards. Seriously they have not listened to anything I have told them.
My car is sitting ar their site and they cannot allow me a weekend slot.
This is utterly the worst experience I have had from any car delivery I ve had to deal with for the past 20 years.
Once the lease finishes, it will not be a Tesla anymore that I will go for.
And now I wont give them the courtesy to save the expense of delivering my car at my house. I will wait another week for them to get their gear in order and drive the car to me.

£1000 lost!!!

Hi, I received a refund request for £89, but the correct amount should be £1,089. My trade-in vehicle was valued at £3,389 and I paid a £200 deposit (Total £3,589). My finance down payment was only £2,500. This leaves an overpayment of £1,089,Why refund is £89? where is £1000?

I Give Tesla Energy only 2 Stars

I have been a Tesla customer for several years and was extremely disappointed by my recent experience with Tesla Energy.

My Powerwall inverter failed and I was advised that the replacement would take approximately five weeks. Based on that timeframe, I expected the issue to be resolved reasonably quickly. Instead, it took around 20 weeks for Tesla to provide and install the replacement inverter.

During those 20 weeks, my Powerwall was not operating properly, which significantly increased my electricity costs. In the comparable period the previous year, my electricity costs were approximately $194. During the outage period, my electricity costs exceeded $1,000.

What disappointed me most was not the equipment failure itself—technology can fail—but the lengthy delay and Tesla’s refusal to take full responsibility for the financial impact caused by that delay. Tesla ultimately offered me a reimbursement of only $428, despite the substantial increase in electricity costs incurred while waiting for the replacement.

The installation was performed by a Tesla-accredited installer, and the delay was not caused by me. Throughout the process, I spent considerable time following up and trying to obtain a resolution.

I expected better customer service and accountability from a company of Tesla’s reputation. If you are considering a Tesla Energy product, I encourage you to consider not only the technology itself but also the level of support you may receive if a major component fails and replacement parts are delayed.

Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling that customer loyalty and the real financial impact on customers were not given the consideration they deserved.

Terrible Customer Service

I have a Powerwall 3 which was installed in February its now June and my electricity bill is higher than it was before I had the solar panels because my system keeps importing expensive electricity to fill the battery. I have emailed Tesla twice with all the information and screen shots, heard nothing. So I called them and they said they would invest and get back to me. Never did. I thought Tesla was a good quality system but now I regret buying it and wish I had gone for someone else who has better customer service.

When things go wrong with approved installers, Tesla does not take responsibility

Installed tesla batteries with approved installer, Octopus, for over £11,000. System does not work as promissed, batteries do not export energy into the grid. Octopus is ignoring the issue and not sorting out the problem. Tesla just tells me to get another installer to look into the issue, but at my own cost, even though the batteries are just a few months old, there is apparently no warranty. Neither Octopus or Tesla take responsibility for the correct operation of the batteries. I installed Tesla batteries with a big company at a higher expense than other systems thinking I would have better support in case things went wrong , big mistake! See letter of complaint to Octopus below sent 19 May, like many other emails unanswered.
Dear Octopus Energy Complaints Team,
Name:
Installation address:
Quote number:#8030206
Installation date: 14 November 2025
Installer: Octopus Energy Services
Case handler:
Tesla Support involved: Yes
I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the ongoing and unresolved issues with my Tesla Powerwall export configuration, originally installed on 14 November 2025. Despite months of communication with your case handler, Hassan Ali, the matter remains unresolved and I have not received clear explanations, timelines, or the documentation I have repeatedly requested.
Communication throughout this process has been very difficult. Several of my emails have gone unanswered, and others received incomplete or unclear responses that did not address the questions raised. On one occasion, Hassan advised me to contact the After-Care team for further assistance. I followed this instruction, but every email I sent to the After-Care team was ignored and received no response. This lack of engagement has significantly contributed to the delays and uncertainty surrounding the issue.
Since the installation, I have repeatedly asked for clarification on what is preventing export activation. Unfortunately, Hassan has not provided a clear or consistent explanation of the issue or the steps required to resolve it. Responses have been vague, contradictory, or have simply ignored the specific points I raised.
Tesla Support has also been involved, but they have been unable or unwilling to assist further, stating that they require confirmation of export approval from the DNO before they can activate the relevant settings. This has left me in a position where both Octopus and Tesla are pointing to each other, with no progress being made.
A key part of this complaint is the repeated failure to provide the DNO export approval documentation. I specifically requested a copy of the UK Power Networks export approval, which Hassan confirmed had been submitted and approved. Despite this confirmation, he has not provided the approval letter or any evidence to support that the application was completed successfully. This documentation is essential for Tesla to proceed, yet my requests have been ignored.
This situation has now been ongoing for several months, with no clear resolution path and no accountability from Octopus. The lack of transparency, the failure to provide required documentation, and the absence of a coherent plan to resolve the issue are unacceptable.
I request the following:
A full explanation of what has caused the delay and why the issue has not been resolved since November 2025.
Immediate provision of the UKPN export approval documentation, including the G98/G99 approval letter and any associated reference numbers.
A clear and actionable plan to complete the configuration so that my Tesla Powerwall can export energy as intended.
A realistic timeline for resolution.
Consideration of compensation for the prolonged delays, lost export earnings, and the significant time I have spent chasing updates.
Please treat this as a formal complaint under your regulated complaints procedure. I expect written acknowledgement and a full response within the required Ofgem timelines.
I look forward to your prompt and comprehensive resolution.
Kind regards,

Continuously delaying delivery.

I've been waiting on my leased Tesla Model Y for several months. The delivery date moves continually. I had a confirmed date, based on which I arranged sale of my current car, insurance on the new car, congestion charge, Dartcharge, etc. Then Tesla cancelled delivery citing "logistics problems". Currently I have no new date and the Tesla app just moves the target date another day, every day. I don't think Tesla can delivery or support the product I thought I was buying into, so I'm now looking into how I can cancel. Nice car, but pointless if Tesla can't deliver. Not surprised BYD are giving them a kicking.
