Created an account for client's needs, and besides the good quality of the platform, when a problem arised regarding billing, synthesia and their support were eager to fix everything. so they have really high standards of customer support.

I enjoyed having the facilitator and also producers (extra facilitators to help answer questions). They were able to answer questions and supply resources where they were needed.
Excellent Product, Disappointing Credit Policy
We’ve been using Synthesia to create educational videos for our students, and from a product perspective it’s excellent. The quality of the AI avatars, voices and overall platform has been a great asset to our business.
Unfortunately, our experience with the monthly subscription model has been disappointing.
Our plan includes a monthly allocation of credits. The issue is that if you don’t have enough credits remaining to generate a complete video, those credits become effectively unusable. At the end of the billing cycle, any unused credits are simply wiped, despite having been paid for.
When we raised this with customer support, we were told to “make sure you use all your credits” or switch to an annual subscription. Unfortunately, that isn’t a practical solution. If the remaining balance isn’t enough to create another video, there is no way to use those credits before they expire.
We have no objection to paying a premium for a month-to-month subscription. We simply believe customers should receive fair value for what they’ve paid for. Allowing a limited credit rollover, the ability to purchase only the shortfall required to complete a video, or even a small overdraft deducted from the following month’s credits would solve this issue and demonstrate a more customer-focused approach.
We genuinely like the product and would happily continue using it long-term. However, the current credit policy leaves us feeling that we’ve paid for something we are not given a fair opportunity to use, which is disappointing for an otherwise outstanding platform.
Honestly the Customer Service Sucks
Honestly, I've loved using Synthesia up until today.
Since the switch from time-based usage to a credit system, the experience has become really frustrating. What wasn't made clear during the plan comparison is that if you don't use your credits in a given month—even if you continue paying for your subscription—they don't roll over.
As a busy HR Manager, that's just not practical. I can't guarantee I'll have the time every single month to create videos, so losing credits I've paid for feels like poor value.
What has really disappointed me, though, is the customer support. I have a deliverable due today, and I've been waiting for nearly two hours for someone to help me resolve an issue so I can get it out the door. It's incredibly frustrating when you rely on a platform professionally and can't get timely support when you need it most.
Very expensive not enough hours of video
Very expensive and disappointing. I paid for the monthly plan and ran out of credits quickly when trying to generate videos. After that, I realized I would have to pay for a yearly subscription just to get around 6 hours of video generation. For the price, it feels way too limited and not worth it. The service is far too expensive for what it actually offers, and overall I had a terrible experience.

This is a crap site
This is a crap site. I posted a college world series review and they flagged my video. I will be shooting a video explaining what cucks these fools are. Dont use them. Total censors for no reason it seems. Who is behind this crapy platform.
Complete waste of time
Spent all day learning the software and creating a video, just to find out the subject of the video cannot be published by Synthesia (educating paid affiliates).
Would be nice if I could have received an error message or head’s up that the content I was working on would be rejected prior to spending hours on this.
Hot tip - if it refuses to generate your video, just take a screen recording 👍
Thanks for nothing Synthesia.
Could have drafted a PowerPoint and recorded myself in a fraction of the time
Really great content
Really great content, easy to understand and presented in an entertaining and upbeat style!
Synthesia has been a gamechanger
This is a great product, and the good news is the company is continuously working to make it better. I have been using it for almost two years, and everything has improved. This has been a godsend to my client who has asked me to produce healthcare-related training videos that may need to be updated frequently. They could never afford to do this with a real person. With Synthesia, if a policy changes it is just a couple of clicks to update the video. The avatars have been getting better and better. And you can make your own avatar from just a headshot! The closed captioning is a great feature, and I find the stock videos and photos plentiful. I can almost always find what I am looking for. The UI is excellent, and the learning curve is very short. It is simple, down and dirty editing and gets the job done. The interactive features have taken the software to the next level, allowing you to create more engaging trainings. I highly recommend!
Synthesia has consistently delivered a…
Synthesia has consistently delivered a subpar user experience. The platform frequently suffers from technical issues, including bugs, unreliable scrolling behavior.
Even when the system does function, the quality of the output remains problematic. The avatar’s body movements often appear exaggerated and unnatural, and the voice generation lacks consistency. In many cases, I find myself repeatedly refreshing the voice output in an attempt to produce something usable, and at times I have abandoned projects entirely due to these limitations.
A key concern is the lack of meaningful control over both voice and presentation. This appears to stem from an assumption that the default automation performs adequately, which, in my experience, is not the case. While I have explored alternative platforms, I am still looking for a solution that offers both stability and greater user control, rather than simplifying the process at the expense of output quality.
Other generators offer better experiences at the UI level and about the same quality overall on the ability to control motion or stitch frames together - that is, I haven't found one that actually works. I'll give Synthesia an extra star though for having multiple speaker capabilities (though I don't know if it works as I haven't had to use it yet).

Be very wary of their billing practices. I have an unexplained plan upgrade and I am struggling to get my money back. I have had to raise a dispute with my credit card company to recover the money.

Generated $300+ in real commissions, but Synthesia perma-banned me and confiscated 100% of my money over a minor keyword oversight. Zero warnings, zero human support, and they ignored my GDPR data requests. They weaponize their TOS to steal from affiliates. Stay away!

Unfair affiliate practices and zero human support.
I generated over $300 in real, paying customer commissions for Synthesia. Due to a minor keyword oversight in my campaign, they instantly permanently banned my account and confiscated 100% of my earnings without any prior warning.
When I tried to reach out to their support and Head of Partnerships for a fair resolution or to request data logs under GDPR, I was met with complete silence and automated bot emails. They are quick to take your traffic, but will use any excuse in their TOS to keep your money. Affiliates and partners, stay away.
Huge mistake trying this on Feb 25—avoid the billing trap.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I was on a free plan and wanted to try an upgraded version. The site initially stated "no credit card needed," but as soon as I tried to move forward, it forced me to enter my payment information.
The moment I provided my card info, I was immediately charged for an entire year upfront. There was no clear warning that I was committing to an annual subscription instead of a monthly trial.
I realized the mistake and canceled my subscription within minutes. Not only did they refuse to refund the large annual fee, but they also downgraded my account back to the "Free Plan" immediately. So, they have kept my money for a full year of service, but I no longer even have access to the Starter Plan I paid for.
This feels like a total scam. They bait you with a "no credit card" promise, charge you for a year without consent, and then take away the service even after keeping your money. Avoid this company if you value transparency and fair billing.
Using the Powerpoint to Video route
Using the Powerpoint to Video route, I have been able to rapidly produce over 12 videos that contain my personal avatar so that "I" am narrating the video. Synthesia creates an incredible video. I look forward to trying other modalities within the platform soon.
