Smart Meter Master Data Desaster
Smart Meter activated in February 2026. Final meter configuration confirmed in summer. No correct meter master data on file - Octopus App cannot measure & charge on dynamic basis since Oct 1st. Very disappointed!

Thank you for your candid feedback. Having an installed Smart Meter since February, getting configuration sign-off in the summer, and still waiting for dynamic billing to activate from October 1st is immensely frustrating and we completely understand your disappointment.
To be completely transparent about what happens behind the scenes: While the physical hardware is up and running in your home, dynamic time-of-use tariffs require market-wide data synchronization. The app relies on 15-minute load-profile readings (RLM data), which depend on official master-data changes (SDÄ) and technical clearing from your local distribution grid operator (VNB). If these data packages are delayed or incomplete between the market partners, the app cannot reliably pull the dynamic intervals required for billing.
That said, you should not be left hanging in the dark while these backend processes are resolved. We want to investigate your specific meter point immediately to see where the data synchronization is stalled and ensure this gets resolved as quickly as possible.
Our specialist team will personally pull up your account, coordinate with the market communication team, and follow up with a direct status update.

As an expat
As an expat, I found rather appealing the webpage, although in German, I was able to navigate the almendung. During the process I was in need to contact customer service, not always found English speakers, but still was able to address the questions and keep my registration process a good speed.

Octopus Energy great in general, issue with unique situations
Octopus Energy are a great provider. They are very communicative and have clear steps. The only issue was when I requested a move and service transfer. They couldn't locate my address and needed additional documentation. I emailed additional information and didn't hear from them. I called the next day and the agent reviewed my email and told me everything was all set. However, they didn't input correctly my move dates and started the contract at the new address a week too early. UPDATE: 25.09.26 - The agent, Maria, called to solve the issue. She was great, provided a great solution and service! I have updated my score from 3 to 5 stars. I am very impressed!
