Our holiday was ruined by broken air conditioning, a constant ant infestation, and an agency that put profit ahead of guests

Total withhold of full deposit:
After this review was made, Clicksardegna refuses to pay our deposit back, claiming additional damages. These “damages” were never mentioned once before, and came 6 hours after this review was made. I have collected receipts of our entire conversation and published them on a website that i unfortunatly cannot link to here, but you can search clicksardegna rental villas netlify on google and in a couple of days, when google have had time to index it, you will be able to see all receipts.
I can only strongly advise that you do not book your holiday rental through this company.
We rarely book holiday accommodation through private rental agencies, but after our experience with ClickSardegna (contact person Mercedes) in Costa Paradiso, we cannot warn future travelers strongly enough. What should have been a relaxing holiday was instead ruined by repeated problems that the agency did not take seriously until it was too late.
Air conditioning failed during a heatwave — we did not sleep for 3 nights. We reported the fault early on, but the agency responded extremely slowly while outside temperatures were extreme. As a result, we lay awake for three consecutive nights with no cooling at all, in the middle of a heatwave. This is not a minor convenience issue; it is a basic failure of the property’s habitability that a serious agency should have fixed as an emergency, not dragged out for days.
Constant ants in the kitchen throughout the entire stay. We cleaned, tidied, and followed every reasonable precaution, but the ants never disappeared. This points to an underlying maintenance problem in the property that the agency either knew about and ignored, or never properly checked before renting it out.
The property did not match the pictures used to market it. Among other things, the sun loungers by the pool were hard plastic chairs, while the listing photos showed cushioned loungers. Combined with the other issues, this left a clear impression that the property was oversold compared to reality.
Pool area video surveillance we were never told about. We only discovered upon departure that there were cameras monitoring the pool area. This was not mentioned in the booking confirmation, the house rules, or any other communication from the agency. Keeping guests in the dark about surveillance is not an oversight, it is a lack of transparency toward the people living in and using the property.
A checkout dispute designed to justify keeping our cash deposit. Our contract clearly stated a checkout time of 10:00. Nobody showed up at 10:00 to do the checkout inspection and return our cash deposit, even though we had a flight to catch and could not wait indefinitely. When we finally reached the agency at 10:10, we were explicitly told the deposit would be refunded. It never was. Only afterward did the agency claim the agreed checkout time had actually been 10:30, a version of events that directly contradicts the contract and that conveniently surfaced only once withholding our money became an issue. Since then, we have had to fight to get our own deposit back. When we refused to pay a credit card transfer fee the agency tried to charge us for returning money that was rightfully ours, they suddenly claimed we had left trash inside the property. This is false: all our trash was disposed of in the outdoor bins, exactly as instructed in the house rules. This sequence of shifting excuses, first a disputed checkout time, then a transfer fee, then a fabricated cleanliness complaint, looks less like a series of misunderstandings and more like a deliberate pattern to avoid returning money owed to guests.
Our overall conclusion: Based on this experience, we are left with the impression of an agency that prioritizes revenue over guests’ basic comfort, safety, and honesty. Three sleepless nights during a heatwave, a persistent pest problem, a property that did not match its listing, hidden pool surveillance, and a deposit dispute built on contradicting stories and a false accusation, together this is far more than “unfortunate circumstances.” It is a pattern. We cannot recommend ClickSardegna and strongly encourage future guests to think twice before booking through this agency.
