This hedge cutter cuts the same as all the different makes I have owned over 55 years which is a lot Not such a clean cut on 5mm branches but it does the job While the power is there it does struggle to cut this size branch it may be the angle and design of the blades for a brand new tool it should cut through 5mm branches with ease. For the price I would recommend this product
