Ebay iIgnored its own evidence and effectively sided with the seller

I returned to Ebay after years away and will never use it again. I paid more than €250 for an item that never reached my country. The delivery window expired, tracking showed no delivery or attempt, and I repeatedly contacted the seller seeking help. Ebay had access to the entire message history, including the seller telling me that “nothing will happen”.

DHL then explicitly changed the status to “Return to sender” and confirmed that the shipment would be returned to the original sender. Despite having the tracking and all our messages, Ebay suspended my dispute and claimed the parcel was “on its way” simply because the seller supplied a tracking number. The very tracking Ebay relied upon proves it is travelling back to the seller and not to me.

Ebay ignored the expired delivery date, the seller’s dismissive response, the lack of any delivery attempt and the carrier’s return status. It effectively sided with the seller, left me without the item and more than €250 blocked, and displayed a prominent “Close the dispute” button while providing no clear way to challenge this obvious error outside limited support hours.

This is not meaningful buyer protection. It is an incompetent, automated obstacle course that rewards an unhelpful seller and forces the buyer to waste more time fighting for money that should already have been refunded. Absolutely horrendous and completely buyer hostile. This experience perfectly explains why I stopped using Ebay and moved to Amazon. Avoid if you expect competent support when a purchase goes wrong.

Ebay Fraudster Protection program

I purchased over 15 Pokemon cards from a French seller, all of them resulted to be fakes/counterfeits. Ebay refused to allow the return, rejected my report of illegal activity, rejected the appeal as well. They also blocked the feedback I left to warn other buyers of the scam seller. They are letterally protecting the dishonest seller, and made me lose my money. The seller is now making fun of me via messages and still selling fakes.

After having had an account for 20…

After having had an account for 20 years, I can say that their customer service has become the worst of all marketplace platforms. The people who answer are arrogant and rude; not only do they fail to answer your questions or resolve any issues, but they also just copy and paste the policy even when it has nothing to do with your question. I think they should fire this customer service team and find a better one.

Nonexistent customer support, unfair fees, and held funds. Avoiding this platform.

"I am an incredibly careful and meticulous seller, but a human mistake happened and I accidentally swapped shipping labels on two similar items. Instead of helping me fix it, eBay trapped me in a three-day nightmare trying to reach a human being for assistance. Because their customer service is entirely non-existent, I wasted days and nights trying to get a call, ultimately missing my grandfather's birthday and two critical work deadlines just trying to do right by my buyers.
I am fully prepared to refund or pay whatever is needed to fix it for my customers because I refuse to do bad business, but eBay makes it impossible. They hit you with massive, confusing fees that feel like double-charging for things you never requested. Then, they hold your payouts for days or weeks after the item is received, completely ignoring your excellent track record.
As soon as I get these two transactions completely settled independently, I am deleting my account for good. I honestly do not know how anyone still uses this platform. They are untrustworthy, unavailable and unfair. This is only this experience… so many more

Title: 12 Years of Loyalty Exploited: The Hypocritical eBay & Packlink Insurance Trap (Case ID: 5322128086)

After 12 years of flawless membership and trust, I am permanently deleting my eBay account due to an absolute lack of objectivity, structural hypocrisy, and an unfair resolution process involving eBay and its shipping partner, Packlink.
The situation is a complete logistical and financial paradox. I sold a high-value camera lens on eBay, used their officially recommended shipping platform (Packlink), and purchased full premium insurance for the shipment. The courier committed a critical error and delivered a completely wrong package to the buyer. I immediately initiated a claim. Packlink eventually sent the courier back to retrieve the incorrect package from the buyer, but my original camera lens was completely lost or stolen in their network.
The real corporate scam started here: Packlink refused to honor the insured value, claiming that camera lenses are "prohibited items" for insurance coverage. This is pure systemic hypocrisy. Why does eBay allow sellers to list and trade these items on their platform, actively recommend Packlink with an option to buy insurance, and collect the insurance premiums without any warning? They gladly take your money for the premium, but when the courier loses the item, they hide behind "prohibited item" clauses to evade payout.
eBay completely washed its hands of the matter, stating they "cannot physically see the items" and blindly forced a resolution in favor of the buyer, forcing me to bear the shipping costs, the insurance costs, and the total loss of my stolen inventory. Packlink has already picked up the wrong package, yet I am left with zero compensation.
This is not about the 90 Euros; it is about systemic theft, lack of merchant protection, and a total disregard for a loyal 12-year seller. I am shutting down my account immediately and will make sure to inform my entire international professional network about how eBay and Packlink systematically fail independent merchants. Do not trust their recommended insurance options—it is a trap.

Awful service

Awful service! In line with the average ratings! After telling them already 3 times that I cannot enter my account cause I need to change the phone number linked to the 2-steps-verification, I keep getting an email instructing me to log into my account to change it myself. Just useless and frustrating!

Avoid

Avoid: Ebay's shipping program doesn't indicate VAT was already paid during purchase. Thus, the transport company bills it again, plus extra fees to the tune of 25€. In case of a faulty/returned item, the double paid VAT is irrecoverable. I called them and was absolutely assured I would be refunded, then after upload of the invoice, I received machine-made emails stating they won't refund anything paid outside of ebay (even if it's their fault...)
Result: I don't have the item, but I still paid 1/4th of its price.

EBAY IS NOW DEAD AND BURIED!!!

I’ve been on eBay for 25 years as both a buyer and a seller, but the platform has undergone radical changes for the worse. Every 2–5 months, the terms and conditions are constantly being updated without providing a summary of the changes, and I certainly can’t be expected to read through all the pages just to figure out where the catch is.
Its strong point used to be the online auction and the chance to sell second-hand and vintage items, but now it’s saturated with pseudo-sellers engaged in dropshipping from China (with long delivery times) or buying in small quantities from China and reselling at 400–600% mark-ups to unsuspecting buyers.
The Chinese market, with its rock-bottom prices, often results in receiving items that are NOT durable, yet at the same time they devalue vintage ‘Made in Italy’ items that are still in excellent condition after years.
EBAY IS NOW DEAD AND BURIED!!!

I purchased a handbrake control unit for my Land Rover Discovery which arrived on 09/12/25. Unfortunately, the control unit emits a slow signal, causing communication problems with the ABS. Therefore, the orange brake system fault warning light comes on the car's dashboard. I reported the problem to the seller on 28/23/26 but I still haven't had any response.

Ebay customer service is a joke !

I have a 10 years ebay experience. 600 transactions and 100% positiv feedback. As a buyer it is ok, but as a seller is a nightmare.

Ebay customer service is a joke. You call them and they just open a case, fill in your request an they do not solve anything. you get then a standard message which do not answer your questions. It is hopeless. They are all clerks doing nothing. It tretas sellers very bad and play with their money. Commisions are very high and service very bad. Not a good combination. Sell somewehre else.

Selling 7-year-old expired skincare & zero accountability disappointed with eBay’s…

I am extremely disappointed with eBay’s lack of oversight regarding consumer safety. I recently purchased 4 bottles of Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion for €75.11, only to receive products that were completely unusable.
Upon checking the batch code (A19), I discovered these bottles were manufactured in January 2019. They are over 7 years old! The lotion has a foul, rancid smell, indicating the ingredients have degraded and spoiled.
Selling expired, spoiled cosmetics is not only a violation of eBay’s own "Health and Beauty" policies, but it also borders on illegal under California and US consumer protection laws regarding the sale of adulterated goods. Despite reporting this, eBay has done nothing to penalize the seller or prevent them from offloading hazardous, decade-old stock onto unsuspecting customers.
If you value your skin or your money, stay away. eBay is clearly choosing seller fees over buyer safety.

Ebay support fake Product descriptions as it does not contravene Ebay policy apparently

Ebay have advised that a product listed as a glucose monitor that cannot measure Glucose does not contravene EBay policy. The product seller has advised despite its description it does not measure Glucose. Apparently EBay are happy for product descriptions to be blatantly untrue. Now we all know EBay is not a safe reliable trading place

eBay customer support is complete idiots

eBay customer support is complete idiots. They blocked my selling account because of some new nonsense metrics called BBE policy. What does it matter that I have 100% pozitive customer reviews as a seller and eBay itself says I am an "above standard" seller. They blocked my account, delisted my products and froze my money that I was supposed to receive from the sale. They destroyed my business and stole all my money!!! And all this before Christmas. I am really in a desperate situation now. In fact, I am even worse off than before selling on eBay because I bought a lot of products and invested a lot of money, time and lost everything. Never sell through this selling platform unless you want to end up like me.
