Paid Bord Gais 6k for a new boiler install and trying to get the first service as promised. They are even sending emails to get it done. Can't get through on the phone and can't book online. A big con. Avoid Local Hero's and Bord Gais. Terrible

We decided to get solar panels and opted for Bord Gais as they gave us the most confidence and a competitive price.
While I have some issues with getting information from the office-based administration staff prior to the installation, I did manage to get speaking to one of the engineering team who did a marvellous job of explaining how it would all work and how it would be tailored to my specific needs (thanks Gareth!). On the basis of that phone call we decided to go ahead, and we then had two visits from the installation team - Cathal and his lads installed the panels and then Gareth and Dave followed to hook everything up. They arrived on time, worked efficiently and with minimal disruption to me and completed the work exactly as we discussed, tidied up after themselves and then gave a full explanation of how it would all work for me (using the app, routine maintenance, what to do if a problem arose). Hard-working guys, clearly knew their jobs inside out and extremely friendly and generous with their time, patiently answering all my questions - I simply can't praise them highly enough.

A great experience with Bord Gáis Energy, having our annual boiler service. It was easy to book the appointment, the date and time suited us, the engineer was friendly, mannerly, promp, carried the work out well and left the area clean. The boiler is working well.

5 stars are for Snober, who I had the pleasure of speaking with today. She was extremely helpful and so compassionate for my personal circumstances. Employees like Snober are vital within businesses.

It was easy to sort out. I rang them and within a few minutes I had an appointment sorted. The only issue is the wait for the appointment date was nearly a week and being older and the weather getting colder it wasn't ideal.

Very easy to organise appointment which suited us. The engineer Eoin arrived on time to service our boiler. He found a fault with a valve which had to be replaced. He decommissioned the boiler to make it safe. He returned with new part on time & completed the service. He was very courteous & professional. He explained everything as he went along. Very happy with the service & Eoin.

I've been a Bord Gáis Energy customer for approximately five years, but my recent experience has left me extremely disappointed, particularly with how they treat customers with disabilities.
Firstly, their email response times are dreadful. You can expect to wait around five days for a reply. In 2026, I find this completely unacceptable, especially when trying to resolve something as straightforward as renewing an electricity contract.
My contract was due to expire on 14th October 2026, and Bord Gáis initially offered me a reasonably competitive tariff to encourage me to remain a customer. I was happy to accept the offer, but they insisted that I telephone them to arrange it.
**The problem is that I am deaf and cannot use the telephone.**
On 7th October, I explained this to them by email and asked to arrange the renewal through written communication.
Six days later, on 13th October, I finally received a response from a representative named Teresa, which included the following:
"Should you wish to renew your contract, this can be arranged if you call us. Alternatively you can renew your contract online."
I couldn't believe what I was reading. Despite explicitly explaining that I was deaf and unable to telephone them, their response was to tell me to call!
To make matters worse, there was no indication that the original retention offer would be honoured if I renewed online. It appeared that the offer initially made to encourage me to stay was being withdrawn or, at the very least, was no longer accessible to me through a suitable communication method.
What makes this particularly disappointing is that deaf and hard-of-hearing customers are specifically recognised under the energy industry's vulnerable customer provisions.
The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has rules governing how energy suppliers deal with vulnerable customers, including communication requirements. Bord Gáis Energy even has its own Code of Practice for Vulnerable Customers and publicly states that alternative communication methods are available for hearing-impaired customers.
Yet when I actually needed assistance, these arrangements appeared to count for very little.
I'm not asking for special treatment. I'm simply asking for the same opportunity to renew my contract and avail of the same offers as a hearing customer, without being required to make a telephone call that I physically cannot make.
Surely a company of this size should be capable of arranging a straightforward contract renewal by email, particularly when a customer has explained their disability?
After approximately five years of loyalty, this has been an incredibly frustrating experience.
Accessibility should be more than a statement on a company's website. It should be reflected in how customers are actually treated.
Very disappointing I have to say.

This morning I received a call from Natalie in Bord Gais asking if I wanted to re-schedule a boiler service which was a no show on Friday. Taking time off work and spending all day waiting for an engineer to call.
As a customer with Bord Gais for over 30 years and if this is the service you provide.
You need to replace or train Natalie on customer service matters.
